Alarcon goes nuclear on a hillyish stage and puts a minute on almost everyone. I love this race so much |

Anyone here familiar with Quinten Hermans? Won today’s stage in Wallonie and had a good Tour of Belgium Only 23 years old and showing good signs amongst the pros, assuming he mainly rode cyclo cross until now.
Oh darn it, completely missed my cue here. He hasn't shown much before this year, but was pretty good this cyclocross winter, getting some good early season results. He also got a spot on the WC team, slightly undeserved in my opinion as he was fading a bit. He came back into competition at Tour of Belgium (Telenet-Fidea skips the spring classics because they're a real cyclocrossteam) and immediatly had some good results.
It's hard to say how far he will get, as his team only rides a few road races each year. I would say he needs to find a transfer, but nowadays that pretty much means giving up your cyclocross career.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Ok we need some good mood in here so I'll drop this here.
41 surprise doping tests were taken this morning at the Volta a Portugal, all of them from 6 Portuguese teams (the main). Have a good weekend

Tour de Pologne delivers some of the most random stage winners sometimes. |

European championships right now. Will it be Wout van Aert, Mathieu van der Poel or some outsider?

Intense race so far, and much harder than I initially thought.
Belgium has been been very active, with Italy and France showing up a lot as well.

Interesting scenario:
5km to go
Van Aert
Vander Poel
Cimolai and Trentin
Herrada

Trentin! Intense sprint, to finish off an epic race.
van Aert and van der Poel round out the podium.

It was a very good race, but I was a bit annoyed by the Italians. There seemed to be an agreement between Wout, Mathieu and Trentin to wait after the crash (the gap was big enough), but when Cimolai gets back he immediatly speeds up, not waiting for the others to return. If Wout and Mathieu knew they were going to do this, I don't think they would've waited.

Though to be fair. Whatever Nation had gotten the 2nd rider first (Meurisse, Lammertink, Cimolai) had imo gone that tactic.
So if it was Meurisse coming ahead of Cimolai, quite sure Belgium had done this tactic as well.
A bit unfortunate that some totally lost it on that Lammerink crash such as Albasini, Denz and Perichon.
Also Herrada basically lost it then as attacks were unlikely to happen then with decent sprinters against one climber. Could have been different if e.g. Denz, Herrera, Perichon had attacked together. Still a sprinter likely would win anyway though from that group. |

Maybe. I was under the impression that the initial plan was to wait for everyone to come back, but one can only guess what was said of course.

Trentin really deserved a big win like this for his palmares, happy for him. |

Now onto watching the final TT in Volta a Portugal where, with each new W52 - FCPorto rider that passes, a new best time is recorded

The fun part is to start betting on Alarcon’s successor, Antonio Carvalho, João Rodrigues or some new addition for the team in 2019. |
