The 80th edition Volta a Portugal – 2018
The first actual stage (Stage 2 in PCM) starts in Alcácer do Sal, about 90 km southwest of Lisbon. The city was founded before 1000 BC by the Phoenicians, later annexed by the Romans and later Muslims. In the beginning of the 1200’s it came under Christian rule. Today the town has a population of about 13.000.
We finish in Albufeira, the then tiny fisher village was occupied by romans who called it Baltum, the village became a small town consentrating on farming and mainly fishery but it was with the transforming into a turist resort from the 1960’s that it has devoloped rapidly. Today it has a population of about 40.000 people.
The route runs through rural districts some 20-30 km inland from the Atlantic coast, it is sometimes quite hilly but the gentle slopes and longer flat sections should not prevent anybody from getting to the line in the peloton and we must expect a mass sprint finish.

Thanks for kind words.
There is no PCM18 section in the stage database, otherwise I would have uploaded it there. I have added the zcts to the dropbox folder.
You may of course use it in the WorldDB 2018, the more it is played the merrier.
Thanks.
It's possible to download that db here in pcmdaily? |

The 80th edition Volta a Portugal – 2018
The 2nd stage (Stage 3 in PCM) starts in Beja, about 160 km southwest of Lisbon. The city has existed since Celtic time later Romanised by Julius Caesar from 48 BCE. During the Middle Ages the city was in decline due to constant wars, but grew again from the 1500’s, today a city of about 36.000 people.
The stage finish in Portalegre, located in the bottom of Serra de São Mamede (Saint Mammes Mountain Range), about 190 km west of Lisbon close to the Spanish border. The town was founded in 1259, elevated to the status of city in 1550.
Most of route is almost flat just like yesterday, but todays finish is very different as we have a very hard punchy climb on the last kilometres up to the finish line. there are no KoM points at this stage.
We will be passing through many towns in Portuguese farmland, reliant on agriculture, livestock and forestry, producing traditional cheeses, wines and smoked hams, sausages and olive oil. Also Cork and Marble is important industries in the area.

This stage will be hell irl, almost desertic roads in 45ºC of temperature... profile isnt very atractive but it's awesome that they brought back a stage fully in the Alentejo region.
Really nice work, every stage that passes I'm more excited to see the next

Yes - South Portugal in August is likely to be very hot. The profile is a bit dull but + 200 km will be a strength sapper even if relative flat, and there are lots of small hill’s here and there to keep them “warm”.

Thanks, do my best to keep tempo, but very time consuming as i try to be as honest to the actual route as possiable, including almost all lager towns, and checking for interesting landmarks ect.

@RicardoSantos91 Ganfas & FreitasPCM: thanks
JMSilva31: I is most likely because you only have three stages – but the race expect to find 11 stages.
What I have done is copy the original stages (the one already in the folder): into another folder (that you can later just delete): t1_portugal_01_2013.......t1_portugal_11_2013
After copy rename all the new 22 files (in your "new folder#) to:
t1_portugal_01_2018....... t1_portugal_11_2018
Then copy them back to: directory/CM_Stages
Now you got two races to chose between: 2013 and 2018 with the same 2013 route.
Now to can overwrite them with the files I make as they are released, in the end you will have all stages – and in the meantime you can ride my stages by only selecting those.
Feel free to ask more in you dont get my explanation. Hope it fix your problem
