Hope someone signs my boy Ismaël Kip. Would be sad if he became jobless. |

Vangenechten another solid cobbler pick. Seems to have been a trend from round 1 to mop up a lot of the remaining competent cobblers. Will this in fact cancel each other out come the season? - tbc!
Quite a few oldies in the crop, but if it works as a one-year solution, maybe that's all that is required!

Kip certainly one of the more colourful riders left Vien in terms of MG history - sure he won a 1-day sprint classic just a couple of seasons ago, and must have other solid results on his palmares (great sprint, not so great across the rest of the stat block!).

Compal-Merida make it a Luxembourg double, as Tom Thill joins the team. His most notable appearance in 2017 was when he led the KoM competition of the Tour of Romandie early on, eventually finishing 4th. |

Two very solid riders to start off with

Certainly a solid pick by Compal-Merida there. Great helper for flat - tick, hills - tick, TT's - tick, fancies himself in breakaways as well. Think Thill has only maxed out quit recently if memory serves, with a good few years potentially ahead of him.

Puusepp had a blink and you'll miss it appearance as a Nutresa rider back in the 2014-15 off season. Signed for 0 mid-way through and sold for 100K (? maybe only 50K) a couple of days later to a manager desparately thrashing around for some puncheur support after things not going so well. Might have been the first deal I ever organised via Skype!

Winner of the 2017 C1 Viana do Castelo, Kari Brynjolfsson will get to stay with Valio - Delaval after all! |

The cobbles just won't end

Thomson a very interesting development pick by the GCN ProTeam. Mostly known in the UK as a mountain biker, has the skills to become a handy cobbler with a bit of a sprint, or vice versa. This one receives the development selection thumbs-up for also being a rider joining a team from his home nation.

Seems like cobbles is the terrain most people are looking to strengthen their squads in! Still a few very interesting riders left with other specialities. Will be interesting to see if any of them will get a contract.

What can I say? I'm a bit of a softie
Even though it was only one day he shined a result like that would have secured him a contract any other year (and perhaps this year had he had a more reasonable wage demand)

Speaking of cobbles!
It's been a rollercoaster transfers for Daniel Ruiz. Sacked by Hugo Boss not long ago, he finds a reprieve at ENI - MOL. |

I was praying for Brynjolfsson to Valio, and super happy to see it
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Brynjolfsson's return to Valio is a heart-warming story. Gives him another chance to chase his career long goal to snag the Icelandic national champions jersey!

A 76 TT Australian was readily available in Richie Porte, but BNZ Cycling Team have decided to develop their own instead, signing Campbell Flakemore. |

From Strava to Adastra - Argon 18, another Belgian draft pick for them, in Timothy Dupont. And like many, he has some skill over the cobbles. |
