Stage 12: Bourg-Saint-Maurice Les Arcs - Alpe d'Huez
L'Alpe d'Huez is here, and it brought two other iconic climbs with him, the Col de la Madeleine, and the Col de la Croix de Fer, all three of them hors catégorie. The latter two are quite uneven, with "flat" parts of 2-5% and even one or two short descents interconnecting the steeper slopes. Alpe d'Huez, while a little shorter, is a lot steadier, the first 11 of 14 kilometers are all at least 7,5%, mostly more than 9% steep. The final 2 to 3 kilometers flatten a little, with 5-5,5%.
Chris Froome (Sky)
Geraint Thomas (Sky)
Dan Martin (UAE)
Romain Bardet (Ag2r)
Tom Dumoulin (Sunweb)
Nairo Quintana? (Movistar)
Sky's performance yesterday was quite the statement. Tough to see past them today as well, although Dan Martin and Romain Bardet looked at least close to on par with them and maybe have a shot today. Quintana left a lot to be desired and certainly is hoping for a better performance today, and the Lotto-NL duo of Roglic and Kruijswijk deserves to be mentioned here as well. And there's also a chance for a breakaway. Nieve came excrutiatingly close yesterday, which may be an inspiration for today's group of the day.
---------------
Pretty great on paper once more. Any hopes that this will not be another Sky.exe-party?

Todays stage should suit Nibali better than yesterdays which was too short for him. But Sky will probably crush it.

Why team Fortuneo is riding like idiots..draaing breakaway with pair. Wasting lot of energy.
Anyway this has been great lesson for Barguil.
But he is Still classy and strong rider. |

They also let De Buyst drive away from Greipel. He probably will also drop out of the time limit today.

I have a feeling that in previous years more sprinters came to Paris. They should definitely do sth. Its a shame when most of the top class sprinters abandom. But maybe they are not top class - otherwise they would make it

Well Sagan to win in Paris surely.
Gilbert, Alaphilippe, Pasqualon to challenge him.
And well maybe the likes of Kristoff, Arndt and if he makes it Gaviria. |
