Yes, the initial news by Sunweb sounded grim, but nothing suggests he'll disappear on us, if anything his progression will be slightly slower and more natural.
The equivalent of being added next season at Level 2 then?

Sounds good to me ;-)
I saw some managers wondering about talents in the DB, how big could changes be? I guess there wont be any big ones?

I really hope my prayers are heard regarding greek talents. The ones added/altered are pretty much useless. I find 2 riders that could potentially be good CT riders. Neither are worthwhile to sign as a PT team. Not even as 50K domestiques imo.

Rider ID 120 should probably not be Jaroslav Jakobsen, but rather Fabio Jakobsen. Unless I missed this talent while following all those Dutch races

He might be back racing before we even finish transfers, and the progression lost is rather the last 6 months than the upcoming 6 months. Meaning it would also fit quite well to say he's back to level 1 now, while earlier you could've made a case that he's closer to level 2 already.
But I mean, you're the bosses and deserve some leeway considering your efforts.
It's just something I believe should've been communicated pre-renewals, it definitely would've changed my entire approach to the transfer season, possibly to the next 3-4 years as a whole.

You can't plan on a level 1 talent being added with a high level. You have never been able to do so.

I agree with Sotd here, you cannot plan for a great level 1 talent being added to your focus nations. You have been extremely lucky before

Speaking of talents, Portugal begins to be a desert of cyclists that is worth hiring. The Oliveira brothers were added this year but leave a little to be desired.
It will be difficult to maintain the national focus with two teams in the PT and nobody is worth to hire available

While posting in the rider suggestions thread is neither a requirement nor a guarantee, it surely helps
Even if suggested stats are often not used, since we can't be adding multiple PCT leader + level riders for every country, it at least gets me thinking about that country.
Indeed, my to do list for remaining talent work largely consists of riders/nations posted in that thread, that I havent yet looked at in full - or left over riders from posts there that I have already looked at more.

I fully understand and agree that the suggestion of riders is important but my current knowledge of cycling is not the best as I have been a little off the modality. I also know that MG is not based purely on reality but with my current knowledge it does not make sense to be filing names without any sense.
My comment was not a criticism, just the finding of a fact that could cause the team to turn their attention to another nationality with more possibilities of success

How do you know which riders are new? |

It's relatively easy to go through PCS to see what riders of a specific nation is able to
Atleast that is my preferred way, even if I don't really know a whole damn lot about it.

You find them!
Working with the DB is a big manager action in the game. So lists of which riders are new or changed, will not be provided.

You don't. That's part of the fun.
Well some of us have found ways to spot most, but from time to time SN plays a bit with things...

Experience makes things easier for sure - but also ends up taking even more time, because you know what kind of detail to look for, to get a real bargain

The thread can be more than just suggested stats for specific riders though.
It would have been the best place to voice concerns about Portugal depth, rather than waiting until now.
Or even suggesting the stats of rider(s) you would like to see in the DB, without saying who they should belong to.
Indeed, that is a thought process I have gone through multiple times whenever adding new riders:
i.e. Step 1: Look at the riders a country has
Step 2: Identify a gap.
e.g. Wakanda has lots of riders with MO and HL skill combos, but none with time trial. They've had 2+ teams in the game for many seasons, so fitting this gap seems reasonable.
Step 3: Decide stats, e.g. 76 MO, 74 TT, and all the rest, at maxed level - then working backwards to find the Level 1 stats.
Step 4: Find a rider to fit those stats. If there's a hint of realism, even if just: he finished 33rd in the Tour de l'Avenir so can't be an entirely useless climber, then great - but that's not always vital. The cycling results websites often indicate the type of stage - but often I just go off the results themselves. Lots of people finishing in same time = probably flat; More gaps = probably climbing involved.
So even if posts just went up to Step 3 that would be something. It would be annoying and somewhat unhelpful if everyone did that, sure, but lack of knowledge of real cycling results shouldn't be seen as a barrier for interacting with that thread.
And if nothing else, at least confirms that you'd like the chance to develop more riders in your country of choice.

Sorry SN but that post does remind me of something I wanted to say in the suggestions thread
Spoiler I do have real concerns about the balance of Wakandan cycling
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Regarding Kamna, yes, the discussion was post the first news and before his later interview.
Still some questionmarks imo and hence could be worth the wait to have him properly in the game. |

Already spent quite a bit of time on the DB, kinda sad to see no new Canadian or American prospect at the level you'd like to see. But then again I could have suggested some, even if there aren't a whole lot, Costa wouldn't be eligible before 2019 db either way, if he decides to come back to racing that is.
