.
Not that flat. Stefan Schumacher won an individual time trial on a similar route in 2008. A few pretty steep ramps with gradients of 10-12%, which will pose quite the challenge, especially for teams with a wider range of climbing skills amongst their riders. The team time is taken with the fourth rider crossing the line.
Team Sky
BMC Racing Team
...
QuickStep
Sunweb
Bora
Michelton-Scott
Many expect Geraint Thomas to wear yellow tomorrow, BMC may be the only team to stop that from happening. Most other GC riders will aim to lose as little time as possible.
---------------
Perhaps not the greatest stage for TV, but a stage that should shape the GC for a few days to come.

Agree... Although I believe the gap after SKY/BMC could potentially be slightly bigger.
And I'm not completely sure that SKY will actually beat BMC... I could see GVA in yellow after today...
If everything goes as the preacher preaches, then I'd say the GC after today is:
1. Geraint Thomas
2. Greg van Avermaet
3. Tejay van Garderen
4. Philippe Gilbert
5. Bob Jungels
6. Julian Alaphilippe
7. Tom Dumoulin
8. Søren Kragh Andersen
9. Michael Matthews
10. Peter Sagan
The Sunweb/Quickstep riders could switch, but I don't see others realistically in the top 10.

But maybe Quickstep will want to drag Gaviria with them? Or at least he should not loose much to drop out of top10 maybe...
About SKY/BMC i dont believe they can beat SKY...they are...SKY. Thomas/Froome/Castroviejo/Kwiatek/Moscon (Bernal maybe too?) are just too good to be beaten imo and it is at least 5 guys who are TT beasts that can help them as they can turn more guys at the front. But it can be close, yes, with Porte/TVG/Kung and Greg (Schar maybe?)...i suppose Greg will slow them down a bit compared to SKYbots.

Scott could be stage favourite (Durbo/Howson/Hepburn,/Bauer), but Yates will slow them down...

True... I have them high aswell, but Yates not the fastest and Durbo crashed yesterday. Also maybe a bit more bumpy than what is perfect for Hepburn and Durbo. Bauer, Howson and Yates could make it difficult for them to keep up when it goes up a bit.

I struggle to see them taking Gaviria to the line when he doesn't have yellow. Yes, he could take it back on stage 4, but will lose it again on stage 5 probably/possibly.
I think they will go flat out for Gilbert/Alaphilippe/Jungels, who have good chances to take yellow on stage 6.
Gaviria should lose just 10 seconds or so on the other QuickStep riders to move outside the top 10.

Has Sky ever lived up to the expectations in a (big) TTT? I seem to recall it's always BMC/QS/Scott when it atters.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

They finished just 1s behind BMC in 2015 Tour, but they had Porte, but not Moscon+Kwiatek....BMC had Dennis, so i would say BMC is a bit weaker and SKY is stronger.
Also watch gaps people, not extreme gaps and it was 28kms long, with tough finish. I think there will be quite a lot teams within a minute today, not total carnage like some expect...

This should have been an ITT. A Tour having more TTT kms than ITT kms is pathetic and ridiculous. I'm for banning TTTs in GTs because they favor strongest teams a lot.

Only BMC can beat SKY I would say. They are experts in this discipline. But Avin is right SKY seems too strong on paper...
Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

Greg van Avermaet in yellow unless Bora goes furiously strong to lose less than 16 seconds. Could be...
