Talk about a fricking technicality. He gets away with it because there's a rare loophole case that he doesn't have the chance to reproduce for a test? Are you fricking serious? As Gustavovskiy said, this loophole would only even work if he was sick during the test, which if he was, and still destroying a GT, that's even worse!

This is the biggest joke I've seen in the history of cycling. At least the UCI had the balls to cover up the Armstrong stuff! Leave it in somewhat mystery. They just let this dangle in the wind in front of everyone and snatch it back up as some sort of cruel joke. Disgusting.

You can literally get away with anything in this sport if you have the money and reputation to do it. This isn't even a stain on cycling, it's a full load of crap smeared all over it until it is unrecognizable. This stuff goes on as the UCI claims they're taking a harder stance on doping. Sky successfully turned this organization into a circus.

And people wonder why people see cycling as a sport without integrity.

Despite not a single failed drugs test by any Sky rider during the period.

That's literally what this is. He failed a drug test. They he said that he could have failed it from a rare loophole that he claims is impossible to reproduce, so it's not valid. He failed a drug test and couldn't prove a justifiable reason why. That's failing a drug test! We've seen guys banned for less!

At least Contador blamed it on the steaks! Froome can't even figure out what to blame it on, so it looks like we can't replicate it, and somehow that's fine!

Contador was not guilty, and Froome was not guilty. Facts.

Why don't we just admire greatness, instead of trying to find errors?
After the whole Armstrong and 90/00 era, i get it, but please. Froome is the GOAT.

Yes, I'm sure it's really that simple. Sky simply said the conditions can't be replicated and UCI/WADA simply said OK. I wonder how they dragged that simple conversation out for almost 9 months. I love it when things are as black and white as this case clearly was with all the apparent experts we have on this message board.

When you have enough money and lawyers to cost the UCI millions in fees and bad press by dragging out the case, and you are probably worth more to them as a superstar who brings a ton of British fans to the sport, that is exactly what could happen after 9 months of fighting the largest wealth conglomerate involved in cycling to date. Eventually the UCI agrees to cut it's losses because in the end it might be better for the bottom line than dragging this on like the Armstrong court cases for decades.

Please don't pretend you haven't seen this before. We know that the UCI are not above this kind of thing. It's happened before several times. But hey, U.S. Postal can't replicate their results either so I guess they were innocent. Not like the UCI ever tried to cover anything up there for publicity and money reasons...

Contador was literally found guilty so if he's still not guilty and ate some bad steak then all bets are off. Guess no one's ever doped.

If you were to speak to people who work within anti-doping bodies (as I have with people at UK Anti-Doping) they will tell you all sorts of stories about dirty athletes and that includes some that you would view as whiter than white. Whatever the case and whatever your prejudices, the above linked article from the BBC is an interesting illustration of the level of detail that Sky go to.

What

1+1=2

You have literally just confirmed that UK-Anti Doping covers up the doping exploits of british athletes … Rolling Eyes

Oh yes. 'I've been talking of conspiracy theories around Sky/Frome for the last few days but as soon as someone points out the fact that he has been cleared I'm going to take the moral high ground and call everyone I don't agree with a troll'. Nice one.

And Trek continues to be the retirement home of professional cycling. Still, I loved Bertie's last season with them, and I am also going to cheer for Richie a bit then. Smile

btw It is definitely a good move for Lil Richie since Trek riders are pretty loyal and work hard for their captains. Not sure that was always the case with BMC.

Hmm I am wondering if BMC will be continuing what riders remain there. They will become pretty weak (Porte, Dennis, Teuns, Caruso and probably GVA are set to leave)
Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.
