Here is the first Excel DB for the 2018 season: https://www.dropbox.com/s/uyfhyleyy7g...B.xls?dl=0
Edit: Version 2: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kfb4ct96rhf...2.xls?dl=0
What this contains:
- Updated stats for the 2018 season - following increases and decreases
- Updated team names and divisions
- Updated OVL values
What this does not contain:
- Free Agents
- Updated NCs
- Training eligibility information for 2018
- RD values for 2018
- The ability to update the OVL value with a macro
---
Please check your team and rider details, that they appear as expected.
Updates to the OVL value have been led by SotD, with contributions from Matt, Roman, roturn and myself. Thank you to those who helped!
Free agents are not included, as the talent addition work is still ongoing.
Nobody has yet volunteered to compile a list of NCs, so it has not been possible to update this yet, for those completed NCs.
Riders born in 1988 or later; who are maxed; and did not max out in the latest round of increases; are eligible for training.
We have not yet had chance to update RDs from the updated OVL value. Additionally, the increased amount of races per team - for all divisions - may lead to RD scale changes.
The functionality to update the OVL with a macro will return when a DB is posted with all riders, not just those with a team.
---
We will be announcing some of the key details for the 2018 season shortly, ahead of the beginning of renewals. Please could you reply if there are any details/rules/etc that you would like to be aware of, before conducting renewals.
It may be that we already plan to address this in the Renewals information thread, but if not, we will look to add it in.

Not the biggest deal without FA, new RD and that stuff, but maybe better than keep looking at 2017DB
Edit: Wait, OVL has changed? Now Valls is 77 when last year was 76,5 or so

You are welcome. I'll happily help out with whatever might need helping. I can file a list of NC's btw...
Is there any certain format you want it in, or simply something like this?
Nation - Rider ID - Surname - First name ?

That would work - any format that makes it easy to update the db really.

great to see the long-term plans being screwed up directly was totally worth overpricing some riders surely now
if you change the overall please announce that at least a season in beforehand, so that you can make transfers adjusted to that...and please give a time frame on how long these overalls stand from now on, as those are huge factors of the transfer season and planning goes around that...
you may not believe it, but my transfer season last year would've looked completely different if knowing that these changes would come...

OVL is always a possibility to change, every season, if there's felt to be a need to improve.

Could be wrong but i believe my 2 young riders, mustafa carsi and Thanawut Sanikwathi both didn't recieve the upgrades the should have gotten. Currently they have the same stats as last year but with updated XP values.
Although I'm extremely hungover while I'm checking this so i could also be missing something completely. |

It is right.
I guess you would expect Bardet to be higher than Wyss according to the stats?
Though ranking wise Wyss finished 15th while Bardet finished 30th.
Hence the OVL formulas are taking a lot of different things into account. (stat only) |

So OVL formula now takes into account past performances?

Haha thanks for earning me easier renewals

I thought OVL was only based on stats? I believe results were already included in the desired wage formula, so won't it have a double effect now?
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Bardet earned less points because the climbing strength was so much better. I'd guess, and again for some reason this is a huge mystery, past performances are already a factor in renewals.
Doesn't explain this...

Overall the OVL change impacts my team negatively, but I'm not going to complain. I think the change was well designed. All my riders who performed very well for their wage in the past 2 seasons saw their OVL increase and my under-performers all had a OVL drop. Also it makes a lot of sense to see Bewley rise to the top of the table.
I do understand the frustration of managers who have focused on identifying and signing types of riders that over-perform compared to their OVL. It's rough to see that effort suddenly being swept away.
But remember that in the long run keeping the OVL in line with performance is good for the game. Try to see it as a nice challenge to adapt your team to the new situation.

You misunderstood my attempt to not give out much data.
It`s a stat only OVL! No performances etc.
Just wanted to say it`s more than just average of all stats or just best stat. |

And controversy rocks the MG! .
Certainly going to change most mangers plans for the new season, and in my mind biggest immediate impact I see right now is how to have a feel for wage demands during renewals. However we are all faced with the same changes so it definitely seems like there are already some over-reactions (OVR changes quite regularly season to season in my memory, although this is perhaps a bit more radical). Nothing wrong with a shake-up. My pre-prepared thought are definitely up-in-the-air!
Long-term, rider overall rating, and hence RD's and wages being somwhat more in line with global point-scoring potential is an obvious no-brainer that benefits the game and hence all of us (imo). Short -term we will all probably suffer some internal 'teething' pain.
