Here's the usual thread to suggest for new riders to be added; or rider's stats to be modified, as the 2018 ManGame DB is created.
Young Riders
1996 is likely to the main year of interest, with the top talents from this year yet to be added to the game. A number of riders were added post-transfers, although their stats will be adjusted and brought in line with other additions.
Riders from 1997 can be added too. Last year talents from 1996 were avoided. That does not necessarily need to be the case for 1997 this year. So feel free to suggest them, but it may be that they are held off for another season. All riders born in 1997 that are added, will be limited in the 2018 season, such that they cannot develop beyond Level 2 in their first year.
1995 is the other year for which riders will be Avenir eligible.
No riders will be added for 1998 or younger.
Older Riders
Riders who are free agents, or part of disbanding teams, can have their stats adjusted - even if sometimes it is just in a minor way. (e.g. I've often boosted the Prologue stats of free agent Sprinters in the past)
Examples in the 1992-1995 range are of particular interest, as they can become 'talents' that are not Level 1, which allows more unique stat combinations.
Riders of 4.100 can be added or adjusted too. More interested here in filling depth for countries though, rather than anything else.
1985 or older are off limits, since these riders have already started decreasing now anyway.
Stat Limits
I would imagine that 80 will be the maximum potential stat, certainly in the climbing domain, but we'll see. I know there's always a lot of opinions on exactly what is best for the game, but ultimately the additions are available for all teams to try and sign, which is a good thing to remember. And just to point out, I have created 2021 and 2024 versions of the DB, so will be very much have them in mind when considering the max stats of these top talents.
Realism
MG doesn't need to be 100% realistic on stats of riders. Real life results are a useful indicator, and many riders will tend to be aligned to that, but they are not a constraint. If you want to discuss completely realistic stats, see here.
Stat Gains
This is also the chance to change any Stat Gain category, or add new ones. A 'Fabian' category will be added, and others could be too - this addition period will be used to test other options out, to ensure they aren't too powerful, and are also relevant.

Links to CQ and PCS are helpful. I've been finding https://firstcycling.com/ quite useful too. Not so-easily searchable, but a greater depth in races included.
First of all I am not the most "honest" person to give stats to Swedish riders I know that this stats is not realistic to how they may perform IRL life but I dont think I have overperformed them to much.
It´s not like there are that many really great Swedish riders but we are some teams with Sweden as national focus.
If I remember right Hampus Anderberg was in that latest DB as a good cobbles rider? Then I dont have to submit him here.
Awet Gebremedhin. https://www.procy...eskel-awet
Was promosing a few years ago f.ex riding "home" in Eritrea agains Kudus, Debesay. etc. Dont really know his conection to Sweden more then he is stated as a Swede on a few cycling sites and was riding in the Swedish NC last year. Now riding at Israel Cycling Academy in PCT.
According to the teams site he is a rider that likes mountains and stage races as he gets better the more days the races goes on.

Lucas Eriksson https://www.procy...eason=2017
Having some solid results early on at Mens Junior races with top 10 two years in a row at Worlds. Quite hard to "predict" his stats but my best guess would be a strong one day racer. Likes hills but could also handle cobbles but that could be a bit over powered rider with good on hills on cobbles.
As I think I have a fair amount of insight in current Swedich cyclists via my "Svensk Proffscykling" project I'll just throw a few thought to those suggested by viking:
Awet Gebremedhin: Eritrean refugee, who was part of the team that disappeared after the U23 worlds in Italy. Now with Swedish papers.
He sees himself as a climber/stage race but tends to do better in tough hilly stages so I'd move a point from Mtn to Hill making him more equal in that matter. The last couple of months have been marred by illness and injury though.
I would ad a bit to the cobbles as well. Rode some Belgian races this season and when he avoided getting caught behind crashes and getting technical problems he did ok. I would put cobbles at 60 probably.
Fighter stat a good bit lower as he haven't been in a single break the last year. Could probably do with being added as XP 2.0 in stead as this despite his age really is his first full season and he had a long break after U23.
Lucas Eriksson: I would adjust a few things with him as well. Have had a very good last couple of months producing results in UCI-races despite only riding for a club team this year. Generally tough races needing strong flat and hill and he even packs a pretty decent sprint.
More sprinting, less mountain, otherwise I think it looks fairly accurate. Having a solid sprint at the end of a tough races is really what I see as his big strength IRL.
Since Anderberg was already added I'd say Lucas is about it for the class of '96.
Awesome to see your knowledge coming to MG suggestions (again) Atlantius, really cool insights Gebremedhin is a cool rider... very interesting

However I have three concrete changes, that may be a little unfair on some guys who just missed out on them (including myself who started developing last year), but I think need to be done.
#1.1: Hill Stage Racer
The hilly stage racer training type could be one of two things. It could be customized a bit more, or just a straight swap of MON-HIL from regular stage racer. There is no reason not to have this really and creates an interesting rider type to have around as well as an option in combo-training.
#1.2: Classics Type Upgrade
The option of a classics rider is very appealing to many but the training type isn't to me and others because of one thing in particular: the low ACC gains. The acceleration stat is key in both cobbled and hilly races and it just makes the classics type unfairly weak. I think with the absence here of MON/SPR as secondary stats for these riders it's only fair they have a good acceleration stat to make them competitive.
*I also think this should happen in cobbles as well given it's a key stat there, but especially for classics it's an absolute no-brainer.
#1.3: Fighter Type Upgrade
I completely understand that the flat stat is the main stat for fighters. But the fact that they gain not much in SPR, COB and HIL is an injustice in my eyes. I know I talk about him a lot but a good example is my lvl2 rider Novardianto:

He currently has a great (expect FL is too high...) skillset for CT breaks with decent skills on different terrains and in a sprint. Currently the best way for him to be trained to become an alright P(C)T level barodeur is Track-SPR, to give him flat skills, a decent sprint, good flat and a nice acc. But the fact is he'll never be a good to great barodeur because the fighter type, which is absolutely what he needs, offers him no weapons in his arsenal. Every good fighter should either be multifaceted with low 70s stats in cob/hi/spr (as he is but at a CT level) or really good in one terrain - like a KoM hunter with mid 70s MON and high acc/ftr. Classics is not an option even with sacrificing sprint as it gives no acc (above). Currently track-spr turns him into a good flat rider and domestique:

Thanks to his current skillset but doesn't do him justice as an all-around barodeur - he doesn't even get to have a high 70s fighter stat as he should for a good barodeur. I get he isn't destined to be one of the best, given he is pot2, but surely (even sacrificing RES and SPR slightly) he deserves something like this:

That is the fighter training for him, with two more points on hill, cobbles and sprint. I would give more but he's a pot 2 so any more could be making the category kinda OP and useful for all-around leaders (not that I'd mind because I <3 cool riders). With these stats he's not going to win anything in any level from the favourite's group but becomes a good barodeur without being one of the best - I doubt in anything but FLA, RES, and ACC he'd be the best in whichever breakaway he joined as this would (hopefully ) be in PCT or PT for his career, which hurts me but if I make him with the stats I want you'd laugh off every one of my suggestions
Obviously this change won't affect Jams much if it at all since he won't get to use them for most of his training.
I am not sure exactly what the upgrades here would look like - that'd be for the people making these to decide. But I think none of these are rocking the boat, and improve the system without being anywhere near overpowered.
I have used the HSR idea (with HI and MO swapped) for a couple of my suggested riders. Just stuck to focuses + a couple of Aussies. Most Africans I was planning on are already easter eggs (I wonder who added them ) so that was nice, but the balance here may lead to more jokes about my "equal" second nationality interests

A cool opportunity to turn an unjustly average TT "talent" in the DB into a cool rider which he has shown signs of being, with great uphill sprints, GC performances and above all KoM hunting. Can be taken a few different routes, none that I've found are too OP. This uses Cv1. https://firstcycling.com/rider.php?r=4...hp?r=44340

One of the best MTB riders in the world, when he's gone on the road he's shown to be a strong rider and a fast finisher. Has won many small races on the road, but these stats are kind of ballpark and based on MTB crossovers from the past to just make an interesting multifaceted domestique/breakaway rider. https://firstcycling.com/rider.php?r=6...hp?r=61049

Has shown to be a powerful rider with also a good kick over flat to rolling terrain. Most recently winning (against pro rider Hayden McCormick) from a mid-range break in a rolling New Zealand Cycle Classic stage and defending the leader's jersey until the Admiral Hill stage. https://firstcycling.com/rider.php?r=4...hp?r=44227

Has shown himself a useful subtop rider and occasionally KoM aggressor on the Oceanic domestic and Asian climbing scenes, with some top 10s and good stage results along the way. Older so starting him at lvl4, could even be maxed which would make him more attractive and useful to more Oceanic teams (or CT in general). https://firstcycling.com/rider.php?r=3...hp?r=36286

Speaking of the Asian cycling scene, the Kiwi/Brit (please please please let him be a Kiwi!) has been one of the top riders there for a couple of years despite being very young. This year has gone to Europe after a top20 in the HST and has won a KoM jersey and top 10'd a MTF in seperate 2.1 races. Is fond of a breakaway or stage victory so good FTR and ACC. Also won Le Race this year with a massive solo and with other performances deserves high backups. 95 so started him up a level (and to make sure he would only be trained as a climber so he can't be abused a bit). https://firstcycling.com/rider.php?r=1...hp?r=17253

He seems to have a lot of tools in the box. A track rider with power and a really good sprint but has been awesome in hills and even recently proper mountains too. This seemed the best way to balance that given otherwise he could become OP in some way or another. https://firstcycling.com/rider.php?r=4...hp?r=42153

A really strong all-arounder, from the mountains and hills, his main speciality, to even the cobbles, hanging onto the Belgians then attacking late to win the RVV Beloften. Just seems a generally tough all-arounder with high backups and stats in general. Focused in on the climbing but still could be trained through alternative or combination routes. Spoke to trek, who knows a fair bit about him (and my next suggestion), to help gather this. https://firstcycling.com/rider.php?r=8...hp?r=82146

A pretty strong all-around sprinter, especially decent over hills (won the U23 NC on the hilly route). Has done well in mountains, hills, some cobbles (front group of the RVV), and in TTs. But sprints for sure is his speciality. He is currently added as one of the "easter eggs" but since he hasn't been signed yet and his stats seem a bit weird I thought I'd try this. Hard to make a properly all-around sprinter as maybe he could be so the RES, whilst it looks weird and too high, should make sure he doesn't get dropped so easily but can't turn into a monster. https://firstcycling.com/rider.php?r=4...hp?r=43011

*Max stats with Hill Stage Racer
Seems like a very good young TT guy (because NZ in the MG doesn't have enough decent TT guys!) but has also done ok at surviving, if not competing at the front, in the hills. Won the Oceanic U23 TT champs, has done well in the Elite NZ RR (hilly) before, 12th in the Tour of Southland, and usually good-ish in the Cycle Classic. Hard to place with the lack of overseas action but this seems ok. Could be downgraded. https://firstcycling.com/rider.php?r=4...hp?r=41198

Has done well in South African ITTs (usually 2nd to the very strong De Bod, who has already been put in the db ) but has won Tour of Good Hope 2017 + two stages across the years (1 ITT) and even done well on many flat stages. Couldn't find the info but I put it down to flat strength and RES over being a sprinter (since it seemed to be him or De Bod attacking the other, they were 1st and 2nd in a flat stage this year). Not bad in the hills but nothing too special afaik. https://firstcycling.com/rider.php?r=4...hp?r=44350

*Max stats with Hill Stage Race
Has performed very well in African hilly and TT races this year, peaking in him combining them to win the Tour of Limpopo, and the TT stage. Also has done well over longer mountains but mostly it seems to be the hills which he has ridden and I can justify. Spent a year in Belgium and won a small classic there breaking away from the bunch so seems to be able to translate his power to the road there. Lots of decent results in Africa and Belgium, think HSR, if added, is his best option. Also has won a reduced bunch sprint over a bump stage and a classic from a 5-up sprint but he's enough of an all-rounder anyway, so I've just given him high 60s SPR and low 70s ACC Finished the Paris Roubaix Espoirs in a decent time behind the Europeans, so mid-60s cob doesn't seem unfair. https://firstcycling.com/rider.php?r=3...hp?r=37282
This wouldn't be my full list of suggestions, but it's the most important names (imo). I do have a full list with a few more "useless" riders, who could potentially replace existing riders in the DB, who are useless as well. Just for reality reasons, but really not too important.
Generally tried to not suggest too many overpowered riders. Lucas Hamilton had to be on my list, even though, I'm well aware of the fact, that Australia may not need another stage racer with Morton/Haig still far away from declining But well, I will try anyway. A few less talented riders on the list, who deserve a mention though.
Considered as one of the best future climbers in Australia. Not too impressive in his first year in the WT, but he had a pretty impressive 2017 season - you know the name, of course. Tried to balance his stats, so that he won't be too overpowered. Several training options, of course.
Reigning Oceanian road champion and definitely an interesting rider from the Bennelong/Avanti development. No real deal like the top talents we have in Australia, but with some respectable results in his first full season on the continental level this year: 4th in the Tour of Japan most recently, a podium GC in France a few weeks ago and a 6th place at the Herald Sun Tour. To name a few. A rider I would love to see in the MG, as I really love the process he made from racing for a rather small National Road Series team two years ago and improving quite impressively since then.
Even more impressive than Harper, Whelan enjoys a stellar season so far. Like jandal said, he's a strong allrounder, showing climbing potential as well as great skills for the classics. Like Harper, I would love to see him making his way into the MG, even though I'm going for a different stat setup (obviously). I like the outcome of several different training options (haven't made the Cancellara way yet, though). With Cyrus Monk's current MG setup (opposing to jandal, I would leave it like that, by the way), I think Whelan as another (slightly better) potential cobbler could be a good fit.
Just like Yates, just a solid CT level domestique to replace some aging climbers from Down Under. No bigger results on the Continental level so far, but he comes with some potential to be a breakaway climber or something like that.
Simply a solid rider for the Bennelong team, who had some notable results here and then. A good finishing puncheur, who deserves to be in the MG, imo. As always, I'm biased though
A well known track rider, who rode to a couple of stage-wins on the NRS level last year. If Australia needs a second or third tier sprinter, I would rather go for him than for the earlier mentioned Yates.
Former Trek stagiare, who is another promising rider from the Bennelong squad. A rather classic type of roleur, I would say (obviously could be trained as a TT rider as well). Would be a cool addition, imo, but you know the drill.
One of the most interesting names on the Bennelong squad, imo. Came out of nowhere last season, winning the Jelajah Malaysia (and a NRS race, too). Looks like a strong roleur, who can ride long solo breakaway attempts and finish them off, too. Not sure about the look of South Africa's MG matrix, but I guess a rider like him could fit anyway.

And if it's of any interest, here's my list of suggestions for riders being removed from the DB (mainly, because they have retired irl:
SportingNonsense wrote:
Suggesting so many really good riders, and so many with such a high acceleration, really isn't too helpful
Any evidence to suggest Whitehouse is NZ nationality now? Just looks like a Brit living in NZ, from a quick google search.
Fair enough. It was more a take a pick type thing since I won't go for many of them, especially top ones, or the Aussies. But I see how that's not very conductive. And what can I say, I love ACC and since I would like one, and I wasn't expecting one of them to get in, I'd like him to be a useful wildcard
In articles from 2016 and before and in the daily 2017DB he's listed and referred to as from NZ, so may have just been using that license until he could get a British one. That was a little selfish
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant." [ICL] Santos-Euskadi | [PT] Xero Racing
I support jandal's suggestions in terms of stat gains, especially improving acc for Classics (and Fabian + maybe Cobbles) is a necessity imo. I like his fighter and hill tour suggestions as well though
With Cyrus Monk's current MG setup (opposing to jandal, I would leave it like that, by the way), I think Whelan as another (slightly better) potential cobbler could be a good fit.
On this comment, I'd just say that Monk has really shown himself to be a sprinter (with good hill) in NRS and VRS races in the past, I don't mind either Whelan suggestion though, as while he has shown himself as a hilly climber in the past, given his U23 RVV result I'd definitely support the option that he could be trained either as a cobblist or a puncheur/climber.
Got a lot of statgains that I'll probably send in small batches coming soon.

Filippo Ganna - Stage Race https://www.procy...eason=2018
Guess Italy could need a 2nd tier stage racer with the old veterans decreasing more and more.
Ganna might be a bit of a questionmark but has some solid results. 5th in the California ITT in 17 and 18.
Showing his GC skills in this years San Juan with a 3rd in the GC alongside 2nd in the ITT there.

Luca Raggio - Climber https://www.procy...uca-raggio
Decent support rider for any uphill races. Had good results in 2017 and also in 2018, e.g. 12th in the Langkawi GC.
I will put up my complete list of riders for suggestion later but I saw roturn's suggestions and saw three overlaps, so am just gonna put in my observations for those...
Didn't know van den Berg had a cobbles speciality, so I think I'll scratch him of my list.
Mostly agree with Budding but I had him a couple of points higher in both MO and ACC.
I don't really agree with van Schip's stats and feel he should be better. This is what I make of him:
Jan-Willem van Schip - Sprinter

He's not a sprinter by any stretch of the imagination, but I do believe that's the best training for how I've statted him. From whatever little I've followed, he should become a good rouleur and sprint/cobbles all-rounder in the future. Results are only a matter of time I believe.
Really awesome rider here, he's very versatile, but shines in sprints with a lot of decent results, he's not often #1, but he's usually right up there, though he did win a reduced bunch sprint after a mountain stage in a strong U23 field in 2017. So a really nice reduced bunch sprinter, he also has a lot of skill in prologues.
Good evidence of his skills is the race he seems to peak for each year, the U23 Carpathian Couriers Race, where he won a sprint stage from a reduced bunch after a mountain last year and finished 2nd in the prologue length ITT this year. Also, justifying his higher cb stat, he finished 4th in the final sprint of the U23 RVV this year and 14th in the U23 Gent - Wevelegem.
Okay, first off, he's not a stage racer and certainly not a climber. Instead, he's a rider with already two gold medals and a silver in the track pursuit world championships at 21 years of age! That means his first gold was at 19! If that's not worthy of a huge prologue stat, I don't know what is. He's also won national Junior and U23 Time trials and 5th in California's 35km TT justifies a big TT stat as well.
He's acceleration and resistance stats should also be huge, evidence for this is the first time I properly saw him race, Vuelta a San Juan Stage 2, here's a video (watch it from 15:50) https://www.youtu...v9t3E2sKg8
Pretty much, Benoot has escaped with 2 local riders on the final climb with 3km left with a largely downhill run-in, with 450 metres left, Ganna (in the UAE colours) takes up the front of the peloton and Benoot launches a (very early and panicked) sprint, however, not only does Ganna pull the attackers back to finish on the same time gap as the escapees (and almost pass Benoot) in that time, he also in not passed by a single other rider in the peloton! Think of all the sprints you've seen where a rider has launched too early with 300 or even 250 or less metres to go and blown up, Ganna did 400-450 metres, was not passed and was significantly faster than Benoot! Since acceleration is the stat that justifies how long an max effort can go, I'm actually worried that my suggestion may be too low, similarly I think this justifies a high res and sprint as well as acceleration for an incredible effort, which is also backed up by his strength in prologues and pursuits.
I gave him decent CB, Mountain and Hill stats as well, I'm reasonably certain he should be trained as a TTist/Sprinter so at least he gets 82 Prologue so I tried to discourage those training options. I could potentially see him going a cobbled direction irl, as he has had a few tries in Cobbled races this season with a lot of DNFs but one or two decent results and also winning the U23 Paris - Roubaix a couple years ago, but Fabian training would clearly be best in that case so his PRL won't be neglected.
Apparently he's the best Armenian talent out there. He moved to the US, but continues to race on an Armenian licence. I found he was involved in Scratch racing on the track, where he performed decently. However his major result so far has been the win in the Dana Point Grand Prix, part of the US elite criterium circuit. His stats may be a tad (or more) too high, but this should give an impression of the rider type (upgrades based on Track-TT)
The very best part of the season: Here we go with the wave of Slovenian talents we would like to see in the game or upgraded.

edit: lvl/kp xx means the current status of the rider
Ziga Rucigaj: This man has a remarkable speed on the flat. If Miskulin doesn't get improved, the sprint stats of Miskulin would fit with Rucigaj as well, maybe even better. Martin Otonicar: Used to offer some serious power on the flat and short term efforts. Jure Miskulin: Deserves a nice flat to be useful in the game. Miha Poljanec: He'd just look really cool as an allrounder with those stats. Izidor Penko: Not the biggest of climbing prospect, but he can take turns pretty well, especially on a chrono bike. But can go up a mountain fast either. Gorazd Per: First of all it would be freakin awesome to have the Per brothers together on cobbles. Then he has some great technigue with some power in his legs. And he's surprisingly punchy also on hills for a man with his statue. Jon Bozic: A powerhouse that can go very fast over short term efforts. Huge energy potential, but especially awful over hills. Rok Korosec: One of the best CT riders irl, dominant over hills and in the sprints and still massive potential left. Used to be a huge prospect, now he is showing why. Ziga Groselj: Very solid climber, having some nice speed as well as he used to be a sprinting prospect. Luka Cotar: Pure sprinter, very fast but almost no climbing

On Cyrus Monk, I wanted to add an Australian rider with those stats, and he was the most suitable rider (at the time) to receive them. One example of using reality as a guide, but not pretending to be the PCMdaily DB.
With Ganna, I tend to agree with roturn's principle. He is super talented in real life, so a good choice to be super talented in MG. An all-round Italian stage racer is something that the DB seems to lack - so maybe Ganna? The 'Phinney route' into MG. That's not to say he will definitely go in like that though, and specialists in the 'Track' trainings are quite interesting alternative rider types. Wouldn't want to make a rider too similar to Soren Kragh Anderson though.
And yes, Bernal and Lambrecht will be possibilities to be added.
Wins - Trofeu Un Hivern a Mallorca-El Arenal (2018), Lus Van Roden, Raboronde van Bolsward, Wielermeerdaagse Noordenveld Westerkwartier-GC including a stage win (all 2017) and a couple more in 2015 and 16.
Top 10 in Ronde van Zuid Oost Friesland in 2018
Top 20s in Arno Wallaard Mem. and Ster van Zwolle in 2018

It seems like a strange decision to make a track rider a climber though, there are some other good options for Italian stage racers, just very quickly my biggest recommendation would be Luca Covili as a really talented 1997 born climber, otherwise Filippo Zaccanti is a climber who's up there at TTs as well. I could probably find some more given the time as well.
Neither are as great time trialists as Ganna, but they are certainly much better climbers and it'd probably be much more realistic to give them a boost in TT then to completely change Ganna's rider type, especially as Ganna is such a cool rider it'd seem like a waste to lose that.

On Monk, would it be possible to raise his sprint a little? I can understand that you want to add a cobblist, but surely 61 sprint is a little harsh for a sprinter.
