Hope for Alba or Devenyns to do ok in Hammer. Obviously Taaramae should go well in Estonia, don't know the profiles though.

Looks rather flat. But in those small races or criteriums, this doesn`t mean nothing really. Would be surprised if a WT kind of rider can`t top5 there.
The first GT of the season is over and it was a real slaughter in the end. When was the last GT or even race, where the GC leader drops ~20 spots after dominating until then? And also other podium riders with several minutes lost?
OZrocker might have the clear top scorer in Simon Yates but the GC points were gone after 2 weak stages. Still fantastic 661 points, which also deliver him the manager title for the Giro.
It could have been so much more.
Similar for Pozzovivo, who had one weak day and hence dropped some spots but far less. Hence bbl312 still had good scoring by him, while his 2nd top10 candidate suffered illness in the second half and dropped ~10-15 spots. Hence his 499 points are good but less than maybe hoped for.
Back to the top. dominox as 2nd best team just ~50 points behind OZrocker. Carapaz with an incredible consistent Giro and just outside the podium was the main rider and one of the big surprises. Modolo, Mohoric with some decent results as well for the depth.
Coming to the sprinters. It was Viviani vs. Bennett and no one else really. Hence big points for jaxika and jseadog. Both with ~440 points for their sprinters alone which also was like 85% of their actual scoring.
Best placed league rider in the GC was Miguel Angel Lopez (yikes) with 394 points and hence "just" 5th best individual scorer due to missing stage results as the better four did have.
Dennis (Abishek), Formolo (alexkr), Bilbao (ember), Bennett (jandal) are the other solid scorers here while Battaglin due to stages for Marco and Oomen/Geniez for solid, consistent ~10th in the GC for Ollfardh/NV also had good scoring.
Bad luck for some managers as well as their riders weren`t as good as possible wanted. Such as Chaves for Aquarius with 121 points, Wellens (Marco) 77pts, LLS due to bad luck (hillis) 57 pts, Hermans (ember) 21 pts, O'Connor due to a late crash (ember) 0pts, Meintjes (roturn) 0 pts.
Having the 1-2 in a GC always helps. Hillis with Keukeleire and Vanendert did exactly this. Great Lotto picks here. 341 pts in a non WT race is massive.
Jandal with Smith`s 110 pts, Aquarius with Coquards 93 and also Grivko (trek), Dunbar (bbl) or Laporte (jandal) with solid results.

Smaller field, okay scoring of the 2nd or 3rd row.
Sutty is back! Since the awesome January, he suffered often. Here with Lebas and Bibby he got 123 points in a 2.1 event. Not bad. trekbmc came close with Bole on 121 pts alone!
Croatia`s Pernsteiner at 90 was the other big scorer.

Albasini with a great race in Norway with 200 points for Jandal, who also got small scoring of 44 pts by Guerreiro, who is very consistent this year.
Lambrecht and Jakobsen for dominox with 195 pts in total as well while matt got 158 pts from Ligthard and Jensen combined.
Home manager ember with 88 points from Jansen/Boom/Geschke/Kamp combined.
Plumelec had a solid race fom Jseadog with Pasqualon winning. But it`s Herrada`s points delivering him the win as hillis yet again with 2 strong riders in J.Simon and Dumoulin which delivered 95 points in total.
Next race in France and yet another fantastic one for Vichot and hence ivaneurope.
Within 1 week and 3 French races, Vichot now scored 232 points which is 88% of his season total.
Race wise matt though won due to Meurisse and Hardy both scoring well.

I might have been too optimistic. On 2 flat days, Taaramae struggled to score more than 21 points on that terrain, which was 11th in the GC.
Paterski as other scorer with 15 points, 13th in the GC.
Startlists
Not yet 100% correct but already a good overview about many riders partipating in the next 2 bigger events.
Points wise that looked like a great Giro for me for a long time, despite having Poels that didn't really do as good as hoped, clearly lacking quite a lot compared to his top level. But O'Connor crashing out was unfortunate, and saw my team loose out on 100++ points in addition to those we got. Bilbao with quite a Giro though, a new Zubeldia in the making
Some really massive scoring for some guys in the Giro, will be the same in the Vuelta too I guess, not good for me.
Our late picks Bole and Grivko are managing to fly the flag and get us some good points though, maybe Gallopin finds some form finally at the Dauphine? Not optimistic, Van Aert and De Bie in Luxembourg could be exciting for some good points for us though, might put some effort into trying to follow that race.
Small shoutout to Dries Van Gestel btw, now at 101 points off mostly just scoring finishing points in races, only top 20s in Brabantsje, Omloop and Eschbon Frankfurt giving anything above 10 points for him.
Thanks again Roturn, love getting all this detail on lots of the smaller races, I certainly paid more attention to the Tour of Japan seeing the potential for Bole to do well.
trekbmc wrote:

That`s the spirit.
My own Giro was okay but far from my hopes.
Lopez luckily found his form in the 3rd week but had no big stage results that added points.
Henao got lucky due to other riders dropping out and hence up to 13th in the GC, which is about expectations scoring wise.
Preidler and Roelandts okay but nothing spectacular while Haig had too much helper role for bigger scoring.
In the end the "0" of Senni and in especially Meintjes is about the ~200 points I was expecting to come, which would have given me the race win.
70 PPR is okay but with such team only being in the midfield of the league in PPR was not ideal.
Luxembourg might be added before the next monthly update. But anyway expect it to come next Monday/Tuesday.
Happy with Smith in Belgium, Guerreiro and Albasini in Fjords, plus Laporte and Taaramae doing ok. My Dauphine squad looks really good, Laporte could do ok in Luxembourg too with (iirc) a TT and some rolling stuff.

Earlier than expected but as Luxembourg goes into June anyway, here the full May update post Giro.
Ranking Update #5 - May
The Giro d'Italia was the dominant race in this month and hence huge scoring took place. California and Eschborn were the other WT events.
Then couple of HC races with Dunkerque, Norway, Fjords, Belgium alongside several other .1 or .2 races with decent scoring such as Yorkshire, de l'Ain, Japan or Plumelec.

dominox was the topscorer this month with 1456 points scored. And with Abishek being on the other end, we see a change in the lead.
Only 3 other managers got a 1000+ May: jeadog, ember and jandal. Mainly responsible for those months were Carapaz/Lambrecht/Pedersen (dominox), Bilbao/Betancur/Bevin/Goncalves (ember), A.Yates/Albasini/G.Bennett/Taaramae/Smith (Jandal) and S.Bennett/Bernal/Pasqualon (jeadog).
Other than those NV up to 2nd with a decent month while Abishek drops down to 3rd.

47% is average in comparison to the 2017 total score. Only the top9 are higher though with NV topping it with 72% already.
At the bottom matt and ivaneurope with 31% still a lot of potential.
Roglic, Viviani, Wellens was the order in April. First did not race this month and hence Viviani with multiple stages in the Giro is at the top while also Wellens with a stage win did pass the Lotto Jumbo rider.
Also passing are Simon Yates up to 2nd due to his long 2-week Giro domination. Even with lost GC points in the end, he was the individual top league scorer, while Bernal added the California GC to his stunning 2018 palmares and als up to 3rd.
Miguel Lopez and Pozzovivo inside the top10 now as well with Carapaz in 11th just outside as one of the main surprises.

Craddock and Moser remain in the top2 here with De Bie and Hofstetter swapping.
None of them is really a zero scorer and all are up to at least 100 points now, which shows, that they are decent picks and just had a total off 2017 season.
Jakobsen might be most impressive next to Hofstetter. Future is looking bright and dominox had the perfect picks here.
Formolo in 11th, Carapaz in 12th, Bilbao in 16th or Felipe Martinez in 17th are also awesome picks as they all scored very well and have the potential for a lot more.
Biggest scores in those category are Simon Yates, who already is at 130% of his full 2017 or Bernal (122%), Miguel Angel Lopez (135%).
I still can't believe I'm top 5. I'm even more shocked I'm still scoring that well! Thought I didn't have such a great squad but depth scoring with cool riders makes a difference

True, making a solid top 4 then some depth rather than 1 or 2 top guys.

May was a bad month but still being among the podium positions is encouraging. Hopefully things pick up again in June. Incredible month for dominox though
We were one of the weaker teams that month, poor Giro squad, afraid the Tour and Vuelta will see similar losses for us.
On the other hand, maybe the end of the Giro will mean our young Italians start racing outside of Italy and we still have a proper awesome Autumn classics squad up our sleeve.
Wow, I'm also more shocked than you all think. Didn't expect that at all.

I have said it not once. That was my plan for the second half of my picks. I wanted to choose riders young enough with a potential of a breakout year. It seems to be working so far

While it's easy to blame everything on Degenkolb, I just did some really bad picks. Okay, De Plus and Bauhaus had injuries, nothing I can do about that. But too many riders just being used as domestiques (Boeckmans, Bettiol, Vervaeke and even Oomen in the Giro). Or guys like Conti and Gerts, lots of TV time but no points. Meh.
