Yates vs. Dumoulin.
Pinot the dark horse really and wonder how the last week plays out. Similar for Pozzovivo.
Aru, Froome surely try something later on and could play an important role for those dark horses in case of a cooperation. |

If he says no everyone says he's lying anyway. None of your business isn't a bad answer, at least it's instictive and more about frustration with speculation than a legit slip-up. But it gets jumped on because it's not a clear denial.

Every Yates gain has been a final 2km punch so far.
1) That doesnt say much about his form when having to go from further on out
2) That won't be enough to win the Giro
3) Dumoulin seems to be getting better.
Yates needs to do things differently if he wants to gain enough time. Zoncolan is a good shot. But can he do it? In the giro last year Quintana went from much further out. And Dumoulin gradually brought it back.
I'm certain Yates can create a 20s gap when attacking, showed it several times. But can he hold it when he does this from 5 or 8km instead of 2? Doubt it. We'll see it soon enough.
The advantage is that the Zoncolan is so steep it probably works against Dumoulin no matter how you put it |

Why not be honest about using TUE at least for once. It'd be a nice change after he has kept quiet about it for ages and everything, in his book, after all the Tours.. But ofc, what to you expect from it, not much surely.

I think Froome is running on still water instead of 'strawberry juice' considering Sky is under investigation, this being the reason for their poor performance so far. (and yes, I still consider him a cheat) |

I think Dum will take at least 2 min on any GC contender the leasr. steamroll right through.

Will be interesting to see for sure, most of Adam and Simon's time gains so far, in GTs at least, have been those kind of attacks, either last 2km of a climb or 6-7km of descent/flat.

I think Yates knows that long range attacks won't have much effect, since Dumoulin will just drag himself back. The only way seems to beat him with a quick punch in the last kms. If Yates can take 10 to 20 seconds on each mountain finish it might be enough since Yates is not a horrible time-trialist. IMO it all comes down to wether Yates can sustain this form and continuously "outpunch" Dumoulin

Zoncolan is the place but all out. Pozzo and Yates should go there.
Like ruben did say Dumoulin is getting better and better.
Giro is best. Even Froome looks ok guy at Giro.. |

I'm not sure Simon will lose so much more than 2.00-2.30 in the ITT, the form he seems to be in is like we have never seen him before.
I know only 9.7 km, but 7th in the 1st stage is unexpectedly good from a mountain goat like him. Another thing that may help Yates a bit, is that he got 3 mountains after the ITT where he knows how much time he needs (if any).
