Doumoulin being a big giant AND a fatty (a whopping 69kg after all! ) means big watts needed compared to the Tom Thumb brigade.
Btw those watts translated to a flat/hill TT would mean fuck all for all competition. Like 2'30/3 minutes at least. |

Tom Dum vs the Tom Thumbs
Loving the Bennett consistency with always leading in the second group, but hope he can get in on the action again as well, as he showed he could on Etna.

Btw have you thought above SKY at this Giro? I mean no SKY train setting the hard tempo as usual in Tdf to be seen....maybe sth had to be changed since Froome’s salbutamol case.
Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

3 rest day GT's make me a little impatient, especially when none of the next 4 stages are in the mountains and 3 are almost completely flat...

I don't think that's the cause.
The Giro is a different race since it's earlier in the season and riders are fresher and more explosive. It's hard for Sky to control that. |

There is also the option that SKY know that Froomy is weak, maybe caused by his crash, so why help setting a high pace.
Provided that they has riders strong enough to do it.

Going to be an intense post rest day stage now. Lotto Jumbo, FDJ, Sunweb, Sky and BM are all driving to keep Chaves behind, where he has 3 team mates to try and bring it back. Only 135km to go...

According to the Twitterverse Matt White says no fall for Chaves, so just post rest day blues?
Also MS recce’d the first kms yesterday as knew it was deceptively hard, so they were prepared.

Rumours say it`s some allergical issue for Chaves.
Will probably be said post stage. |

Team car said lots of pollen in the air on first climb and that can cause him problems...more likely post rest day blues though I reckon.

Frapporti averaged 340W (69kg) for the last hour in the solo break. Even for a pro that’s likely a solid sweetspot effort after all the earlier antics (especially on the cat 2 opening climb)
