I got PCM17 rather late, only in October.. recently I've been doing a career with Sunweb and i find myself winning at least half of all important races I have (127 victories in 2nd season) in Extreme difficulty.
I think I've seen a glimpse once on how to "hack" the game into having a harder dificulty but have no idea where to even begin with. Is that really possible, or is extreme just too easy?

Extreme difficulty is quite moderate this year because of the weak AI.
You can edit the difficulty with an editor. I use Lachis. You have to extract Steam\SteamApps\common\Pro Cycling Manager 2017\Database an chose Local
In the editor you can select STA_race_difficulty. In the second column gene_f_refcaraccoef you can change the difficulty coefficient. Extreme is on 1,05. I prefer playing on 1,1 but you can experiment what difficulty coefficient is best for you. |

Thanks I'll get right on it!
Btw if extreme is 1,05 I assume hard is 1 right? and medium and easy follow the same pattern..
And also, if I'm using a different DB, should I extract from the local DB anyway?

No the coefficient is a multiplier. If Valverde has 82 hill and your difficulty coefficient is 1,05 his hill stat is 82x1,05=86,1.
This compensates the disadvantage of the AI comparing to a human player. The better you play the game the higher you have to set the coefficient to have a challenging game. |

Probably there are a few AI weaknesses that no coefficent can fix. My recommendation is always to start with a really weak team in the CT (not your ICL team ) and work your way up. So you'll have a few seasons before becoming so dominant. And there's always automatic mode if you want to win less and be frustrated often. |

Yeah I don't think I've ever completed 3 seasons with any team in PCM, but I've dony many many that I completed 2 seasons, including CT and PCT teams. But what I'm looking for is really enhancing the AI's performance for it to be stronger in whatever race I make, it's good to have it more challenging and realistic

I found it very unchallenging for me.. But I quickly edited and found the difficulty that feels the most realistic for me

thats subjective of course, from what I've hard extreme seems to be easier in PCM17 due to weaker AI.. if you feel (that extreme) is easy, I'll give the advice that has been given to me, use lachi's editor, and set the dificulty of extreme from 1,05 to 1,15, instructions are in LuckyLucas' post.

Ive only tried some races against Froome on mountain stages, so i dont have much to compare with. But even on normal/hard im struggling.
Would you guys mind giving me some pointers on mountain stages? |

I also find extreme to easy. For example, all the cobble races before Vlaandern and Roubaix is to easy to win with riders with 75-78 at cobble, in Milano-Sanremo you just need to attack at the of poggio to win it every time, and with Movistar 20 of riders had won a GC stages after 2 seasons. |

Do you guys “pause »?
I don’t pause... i feel it is cheating. You have to plan more and make difficult choice and focus on one goal at the time.
This make the game more realistic and uncontrolled sometimes... just as real life.
This is making the Sprint pretty difficult.
Si do you pause ?
