Bala demonstratively finishing last, like a teenager who is upset that they spoiled his birthday party. Next year Bala!

I think Bob chose to leave, Trek wanted to keep him

Awesome ride by Jungels. Long range attacks really dominating the classics season this year. None of my favored guys won, but seeing different types of outcomes is always a little refreshing.
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy

Very sympathetic guy, happy for him, and Kirchen.

Duller and duller. This year and the last have looked like MSR.
I used to like the Ardennes, but the cobbles have become more and more interesting
I am always the first to trash the Ardennes but this year both AGR and Fleche were quite great to watch. LBL kicked off at 20km to go to some nice racing as well.

Love that podium, three very cool riders who put in good performances. Dissapointed in Dumoulin et al who were second men and did not a whole lot - but no discredit to the fantastic ride of Jungels! Chapeau.

Didn't get to watch AGR, so I'm only commenting on LBL when I come to think of it. Agreed that these 20kms were fun, but in a race with this reputation and all the climbs, riding tempo for 90-95% of the race seems absurd.

Have to agree that the race was zzzz, thanks to QS (first Gilbert then Bob) that we at least got a fun finish.

After LBL Quick-Step have won 29 races with 12 different riders.
If two other riders win a race, half the team will have a win this season. It's not impossible knowing that Gilbert and Stybar haven't won yet. Same for Devenyns and Vakoc... |

Dumoulin nor Oomen had the legs to do anything, so obviously they did nothing and conserved energy. Btw, Dumoulin rode his last legs out to bring Oomen back to the front group between Saint Nicolas and Ans. So even that isn't entirely true (that he did nothing)
It's not a PCM game. If you don't have the legs.. both your leader and your helper, you can't do much |
