Rumour has it that there was a solitary bead of sweat on his brow at the finish...unless that was just the picture break up. Latour fought hard. Chaves tried a long one to no avail. Soler was strong enough to attack a few times and still come home with the second group. Quintana stronger than he said he was, as ever.

How impressive isn't Valverde. Looks to be getting better by the years like an old wine. Big question if he will win Fleche 5th straight this year.
Then will he make it in any of the GTs. Almost 10 years ago he won Vuelta, so why not see him once more on the top podium in that race.
That long recoup period after the fall in TDF looks to have made him even better or perhaps the long period gave him massive strength and will to get back on the bike and show that he isn't finished. Far from it.

Flat out day from start to finish with no break allowed any significant margin. When one did get 30 seconds Mitchelton-Scott chased hard then launched Impey to make the junction. Then Valverde attacked but Bernal covered with all sorts of GC attacking action in between. Unfortunately Rojas then slid out on a high speed descent collecting Bernal and Martin along the way - race over for Bernal
Yates got the gap the last time up the finishing circuit climb with Soler chasing him all the way to the line. Incredible dynamic racing marred by the crash at the end.
...and I can’t get PCS to link again

The movistar armada looks scary. Really excited to follow them this season. They played this race to perfection
Huge shame with Bernal though. Hoping the shoulder injury isnt too serious.
