Taaramae winning on Gesink and Spilak's terrain. That's a real show of power. Still hoping things will change in the "hillier" stages.
Good to see Gesink having initiative. A stage win should be on the cards in this Tour.

Ehhh, Keinath too far back and Kirsch losing 3 minutes. That won't go down as my favourite stage.

At least he tried for once. Still, this race is a disaster so far and I'm getting quite annoyed at Van Stayen. MSR is about the only race he performed well so far

Fair enough, in green outright for a day. Shitty positioning though, why do you care about an intermediate sprint more than about the stage.
Two more stage podiums in stages 5 to 7 and it's an acceptable first week despite everything. We need to win either green or polka-dots to really make up for the GC disaster though.
Also thanks for the kind words.

Well, Wellens taking time on several GC contenders on that stage is a very nice bonus. Hope he can do the TT of his life now. |

That was dissapointing to say the least... But atleast Spilak tried. But beaten by 78 and 80HI riders on a finish like this is not good enough. Simple as that.
Huge team performance though. But that doesn't give any points...

Sorry for having missed screenshots for the last 3 riders to start. I thought i had done it, but obviously didn't And while in general this report wasn't too good, i can say that the report of the other TT will be much better

Rather disappointing TT from Haig. No huge drama though, but had hoped for better. Well. Guess he already had his two strong TT rides for the season. I expect him to do better in the late timetrial though!
And now more breakaways please

Stage 3: Great report, and a great win for me. Unexpected. I hoped to save time on the hilly stages and then retain some in the TT, but winning here was great. A lot of drama in the report as well, and a crazy start for a stage (Did Lutsenko really believe he would be allowed to go? If he does this later in the race it might be genius, but not while being 2nd in GC)
Stage 4: Phinney winning is expected, but Rein being this close and taking the lead (I hoped for being top 5 at this point) is great! Will be interesting to see how this could effect the coming stages. Getting 40 seconds on Spilak was awesome

Just bring on the sprints again. A podium for green.

Phinney does as Phinney does and wins the TT again (unbeaten for a year in TT's now) had hoped to be leading overall but Taaramae is unstopable This year so the goal is keep going for a top 4 overall and maybe steal a march for the green jersey |

Must be happy with that from Guldhammer Sitting just outside the top 10 in the GC after the TT and a not so good hilly stage is definitely better than I hoped for before the TT.
Congratulations on the stage win, jt, and to Heine for the yellow jersey. Will be interesting to see if Taaramäe continues to ride aggressive now, or if the yellow jersey force him into a passive mode, kind of similar to Schleck on his struggling days in the Vuelta. If it turns out to be the latter, then this Tour is still very much wide open, especially as there is four hilly stages left as well, and they all look tougher than the two we've had up to this point.
And thank you for the report, Aquarius97! |

Spilak being Spilak. Not a huge disaster here, but always underperforming.

I´m happy with Wellens being 7th after only hills and TT with two punchers infront of him aswell could mean top 5 so far of the GC guys.
Hope he can continue with that when we hit the mountains
Cort Nielsen and Lövkvist safetly in top 30 so far is also as planned, Cort Nielsen may even have a good chance getting on the podium for the U25 jersey? Big surprise. |

Losing less than 20 seconds to Phinney here is amazing. Gesink is looking like he could be scoring well in the points classification as well which is not bad at all.
Now, we just need a plan that will put Gesink in yellow at the end of the 7th stage
Oh, and Brambilla in the top 20

Very anonymous race for us so far.
Taaramae being Taaramae and Phinney being Phinney. I hope Fiedler is at home taking notes.
Congrats Heine and jt!

Once again soo close to that elusive Tour de France stage win, but yet another great sprint by Demare. Congrats Nemiroff, I applaud that train work. Haute Route made something out of their wildcard already as well.
That makes Demare the first sprinter to get on two podiums in this race, and shooould mean two safe days in green, possibly three if he survives stage 7. Get used to that sight for the foreseeable future, guys!
Nerz did get dropped in the end, but I hope we'll replace Bol in the breaks with him or Arndt once the mountains come.
Hugo Boss and Jayco are taking lots of easy rankings points so far. Deservedly so, but they're the entirely wrong teams to do so from our point of view.
On that topic, I was somewhat disappointed by Bol's KoM points haul, as he should've been the best puncheur from that group. On the other hand, the saved energy allowed him to make a nice bid for the stage win. Well done!

Guldhammer got through it safe, which was all that mattered. Congratulations, Nemiroff on a rather surprising win, which is nice to see
Demare also seems to be serious about that green jersey, but he definitely needs to make good use of the hills there as well if he's going to put up a challenge for the top GC riders.
Would really have liked to see us join the breakaways though. That was kind of the reason why Trentin was brought here. Pre-race, I hoped for him and maybe Hoelgaard on the flattish stages, and then really anyone of my riders for the breakaways on the hills and in the mountains. Hopefully we'll become more active on that front. |
