Tour de France Discussion

Wow, what an AI for Puma! Feel for you there, cio93. Having said that, I suspect Demare best would have fought for third place, as there seemed to be no one stopping Sagan and Lutsenko. Surprised to see Spilak not join the action and try his luck, as a sprint is always unlikely to be his best shot at stage success.

Really nervous to see Guldhammer go down in the huge crash, but a relief to see him get a top 10 on the stage and escape not injured. Also worrying to see Dyrnes go down twice, but he also made it with the peloton over the line, which should be a good sign.

Very unfortunate crash and injury for Tenorio, and a huge shame for Iberia-Team Degenkolb and beagle. As beagle commented in the rankings thread, this surely doesn't make the fight for survival any easier on them. Hoping he can recover and maybe play the breakaway card in the third week, as an eight minutes deficit should give him some freedom.

Oh my god.. I was about to throw my mobile away or laugh out loud when seeing Haig doing a Morton to be involved in two crashes. Just not the news we need right now. Luckily, it seems he did recover well and a Top-5 on this stage is quite nice.

Too bad we lost the KoM lead, but with van der Haar today and Gunman yesterday, we got the best riders in breakaways. This at least makes for some hope to hit a winning breakaway at some point.

Ahhh not Tenorio! Really sucks to see that Iberia lose their GT leader to injury in both their targeted GTs this season. Crappy stage for Puma too.

Sagan puts his and Moser's stamp on the race, crucial for holding off Festina here ahead of Spilak's expected performance - although Spilak really should have done something today too.

Keinath finishes safely, and Kirsch holding on to the group too, so we've survived it well - even though we basically did nothing besides that.

I sure hope so. Swift may have won this stage but Demare might be the real winner of the stage. He now is in the perfect position to take yellow and/or green on the next two stages Wink

Which can only mean he won't get either.

Nice top 10 for Phinney and managing to avoid the crashes is great at the moment hopefully he can keep himself well positioned for the next stage ready for the TT

Ah what a shame.

Firstly Tenorio who should really sum an extremely important amount of points for Iberia's goals. Luck has definitely been a major deterrent for them this season.

Very unlucky for Puma as well. Losing Nerz and having Demare help him is a double setback. However cio's chances of getting good points from this race are definitely still on the table.

Haig crashing twice must have been heart-wrenching for tsmoha, but seeing he finished in a safe 5th spot must have soothed his nerves Pfft

Horrible stage for us as well. Vinhas aka Mr. Party-pooper was our GC guy to try and go for top15/20, but seems to have been lost to injury too. Hopefully Borges is still a go for future hilly stages.

Thanks for another vivid report Aquarius and congratulations Roman!

Well, a hope for achieving top 5 goal was destroyed at the very beginning. On the positive note, would be nice to see Tenorio recovering before mountains and fighting for stage win(s) or polka dot jersey. For iberia, Le Tour is not over yet!

What a disgrace this stage has been. Aweful AI. Puma completely screwed over by crashes, Van Stayen completely inactive and Iberia waiting as well. This sucks.

We knew this was going to happen. Sagan to cruise for win after win, taking GC, and probably ending up in the overall top 10.

Spilak did nothing, as usual. I really don't know how to setup a team for him. I have tried basically everything but he never tries, and wastes opportunity after opportunity. I guess I will see that all through the race, only for him to perform below level in the mountains and finish 3rd or 4th in the end.

Sucks also to see these crashes. Espedially for two teams who have both struggled to get the amount of points they expected.

That's sad for Iberia, nobody wanted to see that happen. Congrats on the win by Sagan, nice ride by him.

Ouch, even if two of our guys crashed Im still glad it was not Wellens atleast.
So much luck did not several other team have...

Yates have started well once again.

I´m already losing my optimism after watching of stage 3.

Ouch, terrible positioning by Guldhammer and the team there going into the Mur. Starting the sprint well behind Swift was always going to give some time lost, which is really unfortunate as this was one of his chances to gain time on most competitors. Instead, losing time to Yates and Wellens means we're probably behind the schedule Pfft

Congratulations on the win, Heine! But with so small gaps among the top guys, it looks like Phinney for the Maillot Jaune after the TT, but who knows what can happen there, seeing the TTs in general the past couple of seasons.

And thank you for the report, Aquarius97 Smile

Lol 78 hill guy wins this stage, PCM is so weird. Nice to see Hermans in the botd but Vanendert and Pichon largely underwhelming so far. Hoping they save their energies for later on. Nice reports so far, loving the pace.

Haig doing well. Can't complain about him finishing around a Top-10 on the stage, losing not too many time as well. Not as good as yesterday, but fine enough. Too early to get back to optimistic feelings, but it's a decent start into the Tour for us. Tomorrow a breakaway appearance again, please Smile

Yeah, doesn't look good for him losing 15 minutes to Aaltio on a stage like that...
It's sad to see entire seasons destroyed by something like that Sad
