The madman only went and finished 6th on GC! What a turnaround the last few stages from Clarkey to bring home some actually decent points Grin Ngamoki with his first appearance at the front putting in some good fight - actually a pity he didn't stay clear, has some nice stats for that situation. Either way, I never thought I'd say this but I'm very happy with that 2017 Simon Clarke performance.

tsmoha, thanks for having way more faith in him than me and helping me believe Grin And Aquarius, I know you may try to deny Jams success but you have shown a great deal of maturity not using the control team to make Clarke crash Pfft Seriously though, a great set of reports, much appreciated Smile

Brilliant reports thanks a bunch!
Great race for us. A stage win and some very good performances from our own Andriato!

You're welcome Smile Obviously easier for me to be optimistic, if a rider is not under contract with my own team. But I'm Clarke got some confidence through my faith in him Grin A good result indeed, even though Andriato definitely should not be ahead of him, imo.

A thrilling battle for the GC win. Castaneda surely making his manager nervous eventually. But a great victory then. Good to see both Haller and Salleh getting something out of here, too.

Thanks for the quality reports!

Wow so Matzka picked up bonus seconds and went on to get dropped from the peloton!! So no top 15. No top 20. Much fun! But look Bogdanovics sprinted to a season best 6th place. Hoorayyyyy.

2nd in KOM will serve little purpose.

Thanks for the reports Aquarius Smile

oh hell, this was the most unlucky race in a while for Philips (2nd time in a row I didn't wrote Lufthansa Pfft )

how did Xero score he without Novardianto joining the breaks?

You did write Lufthansa, and now I did too Pfft

Thanks again for the reports Aquarius97

Congratulations to Scorchio with the overall and maxime86 with the stage.

Jung did something again, cool enough. Yosukue Matsumoto U25 3rd preventing a Zero point race, but all in all waisted race days.Sad

Since the AI screwed him I think this week the real Jams was inside us all along <3

Sam Bennett, you little Irish scamp, you. Well done bringing home the podium on Stage 5, and the top 5 finish overall. More steady points coming our way through the KOM, the U25, and the depth scoring in the GC, very happy with this race haul. June has been steady for us, hopefully it will continue, though we’ve got a break until Penasa comes back at Andorra.

Cheers for the reporting Aquarius, very enjoyable reads for this sprinter’s paradise, and congrats to Scorchio on the overall win. Glad to see Haller got his stage win as well, congrats Maxime.

Well once again Azteca is saved by Marantes picking up the KoM for us, giving some points and at least a little bit of saving face in our home race. Huge result for us where there easily could have been none.

Well, we asked for a top 10 GC and a podium and we got it, so I can't complain, even though we got practically nothing from the last 3 stages which was disappointing. Corti in 15th as well so we get some extra bonus pts but overall, this was not a high scoring race for us. Smile

Very happy with the points ranking and winning the final stage, a bit dissapointed that Haller didn't wake up earlier and do better on the first few stages, but 2nd in the GC is nothing to be too pissed about.

congrats Scorchio for the great win!

Sorry I missed this guys, been travelling the last week, so just now catching up on MG.

Wasn't too sure what to expect here. Pre-season I thought WCC had assembled a sprint team well capable of competing for top honours in CT, but has been quiet to say the least thus far.

Stage 1 seemed to continue this trend of underwhelming management without getting anyone even in the top 20. WIth time bonuses so key at this race, disasterous start.

After a bollocking from management, stage 2 brought significant improvement, with WCC imposing themselves in the sprint train

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/C2/Juarez/Juarez-02-004.jpg

This was what I had been envisaging pre-season, with Vandousselare and Quintero using their flat strength to best position the Vasyluk-Lay-JAC train. On the day, Sauber outmanouvered us, but 3rd was a great improvement for JAC on 34th the day before!

Stage 3 brought more of the same, except this time, JAC claimed his first victory in WCC colours to really turn things around. Cherry on the cake was Lay sneaking 10th after lead out duties, which would prove crucial in securing a lower GC point-scoring position after the final stage. JAC was now up to 2nd overall with time bonuses from s2+3.

Now on a roll, JAC won the s4 bunch sprint, although this time for 2nd behind our good friends and neighbours Sancor securing a win from the break. With no time-gaps, JAC moved into the GC lead by 1 second!

Stage 5 was a nervy affair with strong cross-winds, and JAC returning to stage 1 form, nervily hanging on to the front peleton to finish an anonymous 51st. Fortunately main rival Salleh was struggling even more so. A late scare occured with Haller victorious on the final stage, but a quick update of the GC confirmed that JAC had secured yellow by a single second over his main sprint rivals. Lay secured 14th overall also on the final day.

Hence overall a great outing for WCC's sprint group, even if performances were quite hit-and-miss (JAC: 34th, 3rd, 1st, 2nd, 51st).

This overall victory was a bit of a surprise, and moves WCC into a commanding position to achieve promotion in this crucial season Smile.
