Congrats to tsmoha. Cool win with Gunman and also Barbero striking again.
Though from a sprinter point of view, this was a stupid AI stage...It`s ridicoulous at times how much energy the breakaway can still go on the last 40km with a high speed peloton flying...6 fresh eBuddy riders lose almost 5min while the break of the day is going faster in the end and just losing half of this...
Really feel for alexkr here as those kind of last 40km punctures on flat stages are awful. One hill and he would have been back in 10-15km. On flat against sprinter teams no chance.
Missed opportunity for Groenewegen here even though Enger was faster this time. |

Seeing that Delio Fernandez has managed to get a Top 10 on a GT stage is startling yet amazing given he could barely get similar results in the CT a few seasons back. I'm happy to see the team supports him and especially De Bondt who is an atrocious lead out man.
Great to see Prades and Mollema trying to join the breakaway but I am disappointed that they haven't managed to make it into the break of the day given that's where the stage wins are going.

Cameron Bayly has been a real pleasure to follow this season. First he got away with a stagewin in the Giro d'Italia, and then a 3rd place here.
Some hardly needed random points after Lecuisinier drastically underperforming in the mountains. We will need him to step up after this stage.
Too bad to see a well riding Brambilla lose more than 4 minutes due to a flat.

Oh man.
Hopefully he'll try to go into breakaways now and maybe find a stage win. But the more important goal is to get back into the top 20 so he can still have a shot at 3 top 20s in GTs in the same year.

Shame to see Brambilla loose out like that, after having done so well on the first mountain stages. Though, this could mean he gets a chance at doing the "Keizer-thing" in the mountains later in the race
As roturn, I'm disappointed to see the sprinters miss a great opportunity, and as he says, the AI was indeed weird there, seeing Brambilla's time loss. Suddenly the flat fun is mostly over as well now. I suspect the next two flat stages could very well go to the breakaway, seeing how the last three stages have unfolded, and the fact they're squeezed in between difficult stages.
Thank you for the report again, Tamijo! |

I gave up trying to understand this. And I'm slowly starting to give up on that Top 10 at the end of the season too.

I really don't like breakaways winning so often early in the race. For me it takes a lot of the fun of the sprint stages
Anyway, congrats to Alex and tsmoha for the wins

Never though the break would take this stage Nice win for Jayco
Seems like the sprinter teams is just to weak in the chasing, a stage like this should be easy to control

Ya - hardd to say what the logic is behind a breakaway win like this.
No crash to disturbe the peloton, not much hill-climbs, the only reasonable explanation is that the break all had the legs and the chasers did not, hard to belive isnt it.
Anyway congrats to tsmoha, Gunman with quite a beauty finish, comming from behind.

Pretty neat - 3 stages 3 podiums. Congratz tshoma, Gunman came convincingly. Barbero with two secondo places in two days are great. Hope he will go for more fun stuff in later "transfer" stages.
Bit of a bummer for the sprinter teams here though.

Downhill. Simple as that.
The game calculates with the classic one minute per 10km, but doesn't take descents into consideration where it doesn't gain any time on a break, who even recovers and can go even faster for the rest of the way.

Thanks for the help guys aka team Groenewegen, Holst Enger and Stauff.
Much appreciated
Whats the logic of putting Abal in front , 6th in GC?! To chase the break when we obviously dont even have the strongest sprinter.
And then not even managed to catch them. |

Turek 7th. Not bad, first real good result for the young Czech rider.

Decent stage, but not good enough clearly. Time to accept the fact we will relegate if things do not change very quickly.

Happier with Keizer. Still not sure why he is usually the worst of the 81 climbers.
Abal, Galta seem to be a lot stronger than Keizer.
Riders like Preidler and now Vosekalns should be weaker but are equal.
That said, today was a stage result I like from him and it could be much worse.
Velits, Machado and Guldhammer with a day off and so unfortunately also Olivier...9min loss in the end when he should be around ~5min. Tough 4min to get back and hence looking forward to a long range attack by him now. 17min off in total seems okay to be allowed.
Koep with a fantastic stage again though. Keep this going. |

Once again brilliant by Abal, only thing to complain about is loosing 1'25 on Galta last 2.3 kms. From now on Mr. Abal please stop working on those flat stages I´m afraid that will hurt you a lot later in this race, you still have a lot of strong/er riders behind you.
Ludvigsson crashed once more is not nice now the lost 48 minutes all hopes of a decent GC place is gone, but I´m glad he is still in the race opens up for some break aways later maybe or atleast help Abal.
No question who is the strongest in the mountains so far. |
