What is Brambilla on
Too bad we are missing out on these mountain stages, but Herrada seems to be injured which only leaves Van der Velde.

Much better from Machado, finishing with Pluchkin and Dombrowski. Tremendous ride from Abal today to stick with these as well. Madrazo also showing his first signs of life. Definitely a good day for the spaniards!
On the other hand a a handful of riders with a big tumble Lecuisinier, Monsalve, Velits and especially Kritskiy. The game seems to favour the very top climbers in a consistent manner, while the rest top-10 climbers seem to suffer much more from the randomness of daily form, I guess.
Schleck with a very alarconesque Vuelta so far in the MTFs. It's going to be tough for anyone to beat him unless the dynamics change in a near future.

I need to give whatever drug Preidler is on to more riders, he is overperforming spectacullary, great result(s) from him in this Vuelta! Seems like he will never be able to do a big KoM-break though :/
Catastrophic stage for Nemiroff this. Loosing 2 minutes to Schleck.... Abal with the ride of his life, and Andy seems to just own this Vuelta

Amazing Schleck! Unless something changes quickly, it's game over in the 5th stage

Wow, Abal! Did not count on a performance like that from him, 3 mins down to 10th is looking very good thought its very early much can and will happen. But the "plan" was to not loose much time in the mountains and hills and try to earn time in the TT. Now he even gain time in the mountains.
Nice with some relaxing flat stages now! |

Somehow we have managed to stick on screenshots for all stages. Even with back-numbers visible so I can actually distinguish which rider it is. Cool.
Amazing ride so far by Schleck, having had loanes at Vesuvio a couple f years I can't help cheer for him to go out as the legend he is.

Overall I'm happy with the first two real mountain stages. Madrazo and the team were sharp and pretty strong, especially in the last stage. Gaining that much time on Pluchkin is an important achievement.
Schleck is currently on a completely different level though. Hope we can change that in stage 9.

That stage could not have gone much better, with Schleck pulling out some great gaps in the closing stages. Especially after the couple of earlier advantages had been brought back.
Top class team performance by all, except perhaps Konig - who didnt appear to either work, or then ride well individually. Top stuff by Goos and Kirsch, and also great to have a picture of Frank Schleck on the front as well.
A nice proof of strength to lead the teams classification too. It won't be one that I can hold on to though, once the successful breakaways begin.

With the strength your team has there shouldn't be too many successful breakaways though. Just look at last year

I was thinking of the Giro, where Hugo Boss would have cruised the teams classification - but lost it due to breakaways. But it's true that there is a chance that will not happen - and I'd be very happy with that

Brilliant performance by the young Latvian
I'll have to find a way to poach him back from Valio in the next transfer window
Congrats roturn, it was a great decision to send Groenewegen here

And now you can beat Schleck again...
Ulanowski decent despite not being well positioned, and Golovash up high too which is good.

wtf? Abal save your energy!!!
Surprise to see a Spotify train here, I mean its not Ahlstrand who we sent here.
But 5th is good, with all that work to reel in the break and that train it would have been sweet with a podium.
Congrats once gain roturn for Dylan´s success. |
