A hard day's racing await the brave souls taking on the cobbles at E3. With quite a few inclines in the profile, this race might not allow the sprinters the opportunity to try to hang in with the pack and win from the bunch sprint. Instead, riders who can go up small climbs, and have the ability to negotiate cobbles are likely to rule the roost.
| Name | COB | SPR | ACC | STA | HIL | | Bewley | 83 | 83 | 83 | 78 | 71 | | Van Avermaet | 82 | 78 | 78 | 78 | 76 | | Summerhill | 83 | 70 | 73 | 76 | 73 | | Trentin | 81 | 75 | 76 | 76 | 74 | | Burghardt | 82 | 67 | 72 | 77 | 70 | | Vanspeybrouck | 82 | 67 | 69 | 78 | 71 | | Vanbilsen | 80 | 72 | 71 | 80 | 69 | | Kristoff | 78 | 83 | 79 | 75 | 68 | | Wisniowski | 79 | 73 | 76 | 75 | 71 | | Vanmarcke | 80 | 70 | 72 | 77 | 66 | | Teunissen | 81 | 67 | 69 | 77 | 65 | | Thomas | 79 | 74 | 78 | 75 | 60 | | Altur | 80 | 72 | 68 | 75 | 70 | | Polanc | 78 | 67 | 75 | 78 | 73 | | Kluge | 77 | 77 | 75 | 77 | 68 | | Ringheim | 78 | 73 | 75 | 75 | 67 | | Saber | 76 | 81 | 79 | 74 | 68 | | Sulimov | 79 | 65 | 71 | 77 | 70 | | Ferreira | 79 | 71 | 69 | 74 | 68 | | Maes | 79 | 62 | 67 | 79 | 67 |
Fresh off his wins in Strada Appia Antica and de Ronde, Bewley would like to further stamp his authority on the cobbles. Van Avermaet, having finished 2nd thrice this season already, twice to Bewley in the races mentioned previously, and once more in Omloop, would like to finally go one better on the pave. Will this be another battle between these two stalwarts, or will someone else steal the show?
With most of the cobbles coming in uphill sections, it remains to be seen whether Van Avermaet can make good use of his uphill advantage against his rivals. On paper, both Bewley and Summerhill are better cobblers than the Belgian, but only just. Summerhill will be looking to repeat his win from last year. His motivation will be sky-high.
Another former winner Vanspeybrouck, will be looking to upset the apple cart. With able support in Saber, he should be able to create an impact on this race.
Perhaps the strongest team here is Aker-MOT with Trentin, Kristoff, Ringheim and Breen a formidable quartet. They will surely hope to make their numerical advantage pay dividends in this race. Trentin's ability to climb also gives him an advantage over his rivals. They have been in excellent form in the cobbles so far this season, and there is nothing to indicate that this will stop now.
The likes of Burghardt, Vanmarcke and Teunissen will also be strong contenders for the win here.
Some of the other possible contenders are mentioned in the table above.
| Name | COB | SPR | ACC | STA | HIL | | Breen | 77 | 73 | 72 | 72 | 70 | | Tsatevich | 75 | 75 | 75 | 74 | 77 | | Langeveld | 76 | 63 | 73 | 78 | 72 | | Boroš | 77 | 64 | 66 | 73 | 73 | | Polnicky | 75 | 63 | 70 | 74 | 72 |
Some riders who aren't the best cobblers but can make an impact with their unique combination of stats are shown above. Despite their abilities, they will need to have a blinder of a race to compete with the best of the best.
The start list is available in the spoiler below:

This is the kind of race where the aint that many cobbles and you wonder if we might have a sprint from a group. Dosen't really matter though when Sam is here, he will win anyway

Hoping for the sprint group scenario here obviously, although it seems likely Vanderbiest will be dropped regardless...

So who will finish 3rd?
Vanspeybrouck should hope for a selective race to repeat his strong RVV result. My goal is to beat Burghardt and finish around 5th again If Saber has a good day, he may be at notable result as well. This would definitely help us.

No Kump no party. Van Asbroeck did the same, so I'm kind of confident with the choice not to send him here. A Top15 would be nice for Polanc here.

I didn't send Van Asbroeck because I didn't expect a sprint here. With the way cobbled races are going however, I'll probably regret that..
Vanbilsen to finaly shine. He's been underperforming every race so far, so we expect a good result, even if the best of the WT are here. I don't like the preview not talking about him though..
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Best of the PCT would suit me absolutely fine from this race, getting Marcus or Thomas up into the Top5 behind the freaks.
As this is PTHC it's not our copy&paste cobbles squad, with Yates getting a spot. And more importantly Ewan in attendence. So if there is a bigger sprint finish we have a real weapon to fire, or Matthews or Thomas.
Basically, i like to think we have all outcomes covered for this one and we really should be getting a top level result to match

Strong startlist. Wisniowski and Rowe our two hopes here, hoping for a top 10.

Hopefully we can continue to perform well as a team, having several cards in the top 20 and top 30, with Trentin as our obvious standout rider. As for every race on the cobbles this season, top 5 will be good, and a podium will be great.
Hopefully Kristoff can do well here too, hanging on to the first big group, assuming Bewley, GVA and others (Trentin included) get ahead, and takes the sprint and valuable points from it. Though, the same goes for Kogstad Ringheim and Breen, like they showed in Appia Antica and De Ronde.
Thank you for the preview, AbhishekLFC! |

Entertaining racing again on the cobbles! Good to see that AI handles it far better than what we've seen so far on the continental scene.
A bit unfortunate by Trentin to miss out when the decisive move went, and then being forced to chase and bridge all by himself. Suspect that cost him dearly in the sprint for 4th place. 7th place doesn't give us the big points we will always hope for this season on the cobbles.
Though, Kristoff following it up with a 9th place is good. Seems like our riders behind Trentin have found a way to rotate who will be up there close to Trentin. Surely they're saving themselves in certain races to be as sharp as possible in other races I guess that's the big upside of having several contenders for the minor top 10 placings, that the odds for one of them having a good day is greater.
Bewley is just superior on the cobbles. It's pretty amazing, really. Congratulations again, Roman! And with another four riders inside the top 30, I guess you can't ask for anything more |

Gratz to Bewley, just another one of those days. Happy with Langeveld's performance, coming in 10th. That's a solid race but we'll need a new cobbles leader next season. This races are too much fun to only play a siderole.

Good ride by Wisniowski to get in that final selective group. Unfortunately not much left in the tank, but 6th is still a very good result. Rowe also following up nicely.
A relatively good race. Seems that the AI only have problems in the races outside the PT(HC) ones. Bewley unstoppable as ever, congrats again Roman
Both Lierse and Podium with more points here than us from the PCT, so congrats on a good race for them. At least we managed to outscore a couple of our main contenders for promotion.
Thanks for another quality report, Abhishek!

Not good. We sadly not know what would have been possible for Polanc without the crash (another one for our leaders, this is getting awful). He looked strong with Maes, but at the end others earned the fruits of their pacesetting for minor places. Congratulations to Roman and also the strong scoring PCT teams here!
A bummer how an invisible Joseph as 14th scores as many points as Potocki in his full Romandie hunt for the white jersey and his great effort there. Damn.

An improvement by Vanmarcke, but he isn't showing particularly good form in the closing stages. Superb race for the Kuroedas though!

Alright, Vanbilsen! Excellent race for his best result of the season. Fourth place behind the big 3 is great. He really likes a tough race rather then the borich group sprints we had so far. More might have even been possible if he had been in a better wheel, but beating Bewley was never going to happen, grats for yet another win!
Shoutout to Stijn Joseph as well, 14th in a PTHC race is great, I'll have to keep him another season now, despite him pulling my average age up so much.
And a big thanks to Abhi for the report, they're getting even better!
