Formula 1 Season 2017
FreitasPCM
Meanwhile, news regarding Gasly riding in Austin: he might not because Honda want him to ride the final race of the Japanese Super Formula. So... will Sainz remain another race? Will Red Bull promote Galeal for the US Grand Prix? Or will they seek a former driver like Buemi or Vergne? All possibilities seem to be on top of the table.

I think Gasly should ride the final race of Super Formula. I mean, he is fighting there for a title, and one more race in F1 won't be crucial in his career, but a title in a high-rated series as Super Formula is something that will remain forever.

In that case Buemi would be the rider replacing him in Austin. He is still RB and TR test rider. Vergne is long gone from Red Bull, he has been with Ferrari as a development rider until a few months ago

Mistery solved: it's Brendon Hartley who gets to ride for Toro Rosso in Austin.

Please guys tell me you've seen the video that McLaren made to anounce it.

Some McLaren workers saying in Spanish "My engine is good"

Well... a typhoon cancelled the weekend races of the Japanese SuperFormula in Suzuka so Gasly couldn't fight for the championship crown.

Also, good signs from Sainz on his Renault debut, finishing above Hulkenberg on both practice sessions so far.

You can always rely on Max Verstappen to liven up a race! But when you cut an apex you're gonna struggle to keep an overtake, and he was pretty clearly inside it. Such a shame, but Kimi defended excellently.

Lewis to be crowned in Mexico for sure. At least Seb looks like he'll hold 2nd now, i was worried he'd lose out to Bottas but Ferrari is back ontop of things. Can go for some pride at the finish of the season with another win hopefully.

Hartley didn't do too badly. Clearly way off Kvyat, but Brandon wasn't the slowest this weekend and he can take heart from that. Enough to get him a regular seat next year? I doubt it, and really i think he should stick with WEC. Kvyat though was very good and showed the talent we've seen before. Arguable for a spot at TR as Red Bull get more experience into their real young guys?

Really enjoyable race with plenty of good racing (we'll not look at Ericsson-Magnusson...), roll on Mexico. This season really has rekindled my interest in F1

BTW track limits this have been kind of a joke all weekend, and needed a lot more consistency

And Sainz finishing seventh in his first race with Renault, just like Alonso did back in 2003. #SainzWDC19 Pfft

If Hülkenberg can get out of this recent chain of bad luck, he and Sainz will definitely scoop up some good points for Renault. Next season I'd expect them to see right there with Force India for manufacture no4, hopefully with McLaren if they can sort things out with the Renault engine.

We've got rid of Palmer, now I'm just waiting for Ericsson to step out of Sauber.

About the penalty, according to the rules, yes. But then they should have given a lot more penalties for people going wide at the penultimate turn... whatever.

I'm glad Verstappen showed he is still super quick and that all that bad luck didn't matter to his reputation in the end. It did to Jos while most of the time it wasn't Jos fault either. But sometimes, people will get unfair reputations for it anyway.

Well, he was the only one who gained a position offtrack and all the penultimate corner stuff doesn't matter, since the FIA has eased the track limits on almost every corner before the race. Every driver knew it, hence everyone ran wide, but you lose time there, when you go wide, not like Verstappen.

Also Jos has showed his true personality, when he claimed, that Ferrari had influence in the decision.

What a manchild, although I find it funny to think of a grown man googling "FIA Ferrari international assistance" whilst being furious.

Hartley to partner Gasly in Mexico for Torro Rosso as they continue to faff about with their line-up. Guess a good race for Kvyat didn't matter and he's got to be well out of mind for a 2018 drive with them now, and gives rise to the theory that Hartley is in the running as a stop-gap option as they get more experience into their young guys.
