It will be interesting to see how Kung goes for you, as a PCT domestique he should be far more valuable than he was as a leader for me in last year's CT.
His wage is high compared to what I think he's worth, and he definitely shouldn't be higher than Reichenbach, but that will come down over a couple of seasons to a more reasonable level so he is a sound investment for you.
I'm glad he gets to stay in Switzerland, even if that does mean bringing him back again in the future might be a little bit tougher for us if he becomes a key domestique for you.
Got to say I was expecting to see Spengler have some more help on the Cobbles this year, I know he won't be one of the favourites this season but he should still score some nice points there. Hopefully Frieschke will be able to fill one of those support roles for him when they are both maxed out.
And thank you again for the Maccagli loan, and the Wyss one the other way, both deals will help us out massively and hopefully both riders do well for their temporary homes this season.
Yeah Kung is extremely overpaid this year, but that will definitely come down and I think he will be a good investment. We'll see, maybe we can work out a deal to get him back to you in the future.
As for Spengler, I pretty much scrapped our cobbles department since Jacobs was better than him and we still didnt score any points in cobbles last year. I'll work on rebuilding it starting next year hopefully so we can have a good squad when he is maxed.
As always it was a pleasure to work with you, I think we both benefited from our loan deals. I hope Wyss can help out Grand and score some points on his own. Good luck this year!

Looking really much forward to Reichenbach. In especially since he underperformed last season (maybe due to Schumacher being actual leader).
His stats might not be top class but surely better than he used to perform.
Amador in PT wildcards Suisse and Tour de France surely not to the favour of many PT managers. |

With the first 3 months of the season finished, the situation at UBS is looking very bright. While Andrei Amador has not yet begun his season, the team's other talent has been well at work getting results. In particular, I've been thrilled with the work of Patrick Schelling. He is a home grown rider that the team has worked with to develop for many years now, and it is amazing to see him finally taking on a leadership role.
Most significantly, Schelling took 2nd overall in the HC race Tour of Eritrea. This was a stunning result as many of the top stage racing brass of the division was present. It is also worth mentioning that new rider Stefan Kung placed 2nd in the young riders classification, and the team won the team classification. It is a good sign for the future, and if results like this continue throughout the year then I have to say we are strong candidates for promotion.
Patrick Schelling climbs to 3rd on the queen stage of the Tour of Eritrea. He would later go on to move into 2nd overall by taking advantage of the hills.
Other results have come from Theo Reinhardt who has consistently been a top-10 sprinter in any race he has been in. While he has yet to claim a victory, I know it is only a matter of time. Sebastien Reichenbach has also started his season and while results have been scarce so far, he is getting closer and closer to reaching the top 10 (which was only a dream for us in the hills last season!)
Thank you for reading! Full results are up to date on the first page of the team HQ. As I stated earlier, Amador has yet to start his season so the biggest updates are surely yet to come.

I'm happy to announce that the team's first goal of the season, to win the Tour of Vancouver, has just been completed by Andrei Amador. Amador had a very successful start to his season in Vancouver, taking 2 stage wins, 1 podium, and winning the KoM and Points jerseys along the way to sealing his first GC victory of the season. This is a huge result for the team in our mission of promotion, and possibly one of Andrei's best performances ever. Of note, Marcel Aregger also placed well in the sprints, netting a 3rd, 6th, and 7th place finish in the 3 flat stages. The team showed up for the TTT as well, and while they couldn't beat dominant Generali and the impressive Eritel squad, they did place 3rd.
Andrei Amador takes the mountain top victory on stage 4 of the Tour of Vancouver on his way to the overall win.
With that, our next race will be the Tour of California and the Tour of South Africa, where Amador and Reichenbach respectively will lead our squads. Thanks for reading.

Congrats on a great win. Amador looked like he was crusing through that race, never really challenged! Will be interesting to see Amador in California, with a much more varied route than in Vancouver and of course the competition from the PT.
I would guess that you're sending a good TTT team to South Africa, so Reichenbach should fancy his chances there too.

Thanks tastasol, it was a very fun race. I have a feeling that the California field is going to be super strong, so it probably won't be as fun but maybe a Top 5 or so would be nice. We've got our "A-team" for TTT's going to South Africa, but the way leaders have been getting dropped in TTT's I'm going to assume Reichenbach won't benefit from any time we gain there

Amador 5th in the Tour de France
At the likely peak of our season and Andrei's main goal, the Tour de France, the team came away with a decent handful of results. Amador was consistently battling it out with the best that the Pro Tour has to offer, and he ended up taking 5th in the end with a stage win along the way. Also of note, Theo Reinhardt was a consistent factor in the sprints, taking 2 stage podiums and a top 10.
We're also proud to say that we took 2nd in the overall Team Classification, which is a great result from a Pro Continental Team in the biggest race in the world. I think this is a great sign of things to come, and if the points at the end of the year allow us a promotion, then this is proof that we will have no problem returning to the big leagues.
Andrei Amador wins solo after a grueling day in the Pyrenees on Stage 9 of the Tour de France.
Our Tour de France showing is not our only recent display, as we have had great results across the globe since my last update. A fully updated results page can be found on the first page of the Team HQ, but in short here are the highlights:
Theo Reinhardt | Tour of Beijing - Stage 5 | 1st | Theo Reinhardt | Tour of Beijing - Stage 2 | 3rd | Theo Reinhardt | Deutschland Tour - Stage 1 | 2nd | Theo Reinhardt | 5 Jours de Dunkerque - Stage 2 | 3rd | Team | Tour of Romandie - Stage 1 TTT | 1st | Team | Monterrey TTT | 2nd | Andrei Amador | Tour of California - GC | 2nd | Sebastien Reichenbach | Tour of South Africa - Stage 1 | 3rd | Sebastien Reichenbach | Tour of South Africa - GC | 5th | Marcel Aregger | Philidelphia International Championship | 4th | Jose Goncalves | Tour of Norway - GC | 4th |
It is especially nice to see Theo Reinhardt coming into his sprinting form and quickly eclipsing his results from last year. Another takeaway I have had is that this year we are getting more production out of our non-Andrei Amador riders and Andrei has not had to carry the whole team on his back.
Theo Reinhardt takes his first win of the season in the field sprint of Stage 5 of the Tour of Beijing.
The next race on the schedule is the Int. Osterreich Rundfahrt, which is one of our win goals this year. Andrei is leading the team and with his recent form holding from the Tour de France, he should be expected to achieve a great result. After this, Andrei will travel back to his home hemisphere to race the Vuelta a Colombia, and then he will finish his season at the Tour of East Java.
Sebastien Reichenbach will lead the team at the remaining hilly classics, and perhaps the most interesting race of the season for us will be the Tour of America, where Patrick Schelling will hold a leadership role in the Tour de France of the Continental Tour. It has been a fast season and the final stretch is coming up. Thank you for reading!

Hello everyone, here is an update to the final results of our year. 2017 was a very successful season for us and we managed to fulfill 4/5 of our goals while promoting back into the PT division!
Win | Tour of Vancouver - 1st | | Win | Int. Osterreich Rundfahrt - 1st | | Top 5 | Deutschland Tour - 16th | | Top 5 | Vuelta a Colombia - 1st | | Top 5 | PCT Team Standings - 4th | |
This was also possibly Andrei Amador's most successful season yet, as he walked away with GC wins in the Int. Osterreich Rundfahrt, Vuelta a Colombia, and the Tour of Vancouver, winning 6 stages and 5 minor jerseys along the way.
Andrei Amador wins the mountain top finish on stage 2 of the Vuelta a Colombia, on his way to sealing the overall victory.
The other story of our season is the coming of age of our home grown talent Patrick Schelling. Patrick burst onto the scene this year and proved his class as a GC rider by taking podiums in the Tour of America and the Tour of Eritrea. This was extremely exciting for me as his manager who has developed him since he was a neo-pro. I can tell you he will be the focus of our development in the off-season as well as we get him ready for the Pro Tour level of competition.
Patrick Schelling wins solo on an overcast mountain day in stage 10 of the Tour of America. (Nice to be able to post a win-photo that isn't Amador!
I am eagerly awaiting the results of the World and National championships before officially starting the offseason. There are major changes to be made to our roster and our riders' training to get us ready for the Pro Tour. Thank you for reading, and congrats and good luck to our fellow promoting teams: Grieg, Isostar, Newton, Berg and Ferrero!

With renewals concluded and the transfer season about to kick off, I'd like to give an update on our contract renewals and national championship results. Rafaâ Chtioui was able to successfully defend his national time trial champion jersey, as was Basilio Ramos Ticona. Home grown talent Silvan Dillier also held onto the time trial jersey of Switzlerand for the second year of what we hope will be a long streak eventually equaling Fabian Cancellara. Andrei Amador will wear both the national road and time trial jerseys this year as the dual champion of 2017. It was a successful haul, but one obvious jersey is missing: the Swiss national road jersey, which was deservedly won by Simon Pellaud of Nordstrom - Bioware (congratulations to whitejersey).
And with that, here are the results of our renewals, with rider availability included:
| Name | Wage | Availability | | Andrei Amador | € 790,000 | No | | Patrick Schelling | € 180,000 | No | | Sebastien Reichenbach | € 162,000 | No | | Theo Reinhardt | € 140,000 | Possibly | | Lukas Spengler | € 100,000 | No | | Silvan Dillier | € 85,000 | No | | Mirco Saggiorato | € 75,000 | No | | Sébastien Ivars | € 73,000 | Unlikely | | Théry Schir | € 60,000 | No | | Matthias Frank | € 50,000 | No | | Jose Goncalves | € 60,000 | No | | Dylan Page | € 50,000 | Yes | | Jonathan Fumeaux | € 50,000 | Unlikely | | Michael Schär | € 50,000 | No | | Basilio Ramos Ticona | € 50,000 | No | | Dominik Fuchs | € 50,000 | Unlikely | | Danilo Wyss | € 50,000 | Yes | | Alexandr Braico | € 50,000 | Yes | | Rafaâ Chtioui | € 50,000 | Yes |
Riders who improved received well deserved bonuses, and I am pleased with the results of the rest of our contract negotiations. I'd like to bid farewell and the best of luck to long time workhorse Thomas Frei who has aged out of our team and will likely look to compete at a lower level. We also decided not to renew sprinter Marcel Aregger who had a decent PCT season last year, but does not fit into our lineup as a PT squad this year. With that, we have a strong budget remaining to sign new talent that will hopefully keep us afloat in our first year back in the Pro Tour.

Welcome to the Team: Patrick Müller
Our first signing of the transfer season has been completed and I'd like to welcome Patrick Müller to Team UBS! Pat is a multiple-time junior and U23 Swiss national champion and as such we have had our eye on him for a very long time. We went into the transfer season with his name highlighted as a priority and I'm super happy we were able to sign him.
Here are his current and projected stats:
Pat will spend the year with our friends over at Philips - Continental in the PCT. He will receive guidance from manager AbhishekLFC and compatriot Marcel Wyss before making the jump to the PT next year (or he'll stay in the PCT if we relegate )

Congratulations on signing Muller! When I was doing my initial db scrutining he was one of the riders that really stood out to me! Could end up being one of the most dominant puncheurs in like 3 years for sure!
I also completely missed you congratulating us on the championship victory of Simon Pellaud, appreciate it! The Swiss NC is always beautiful to look at so much pleased with his win

Transfers are finished and the dust is settling. Here is a quick summary of how the team will look going into the new season.
Most significantly, we were able to secure cycling legend Yuri Trofimov, who will lead the squad in the hills as we step up to the Pro Tour level of competition. I'm very excited to see what we can do with a top puncheur since we have not had a rider who fits this description since Stefan Schumacher in his prime. I think Yuri will be a critical piece to help us stay in the PT after this year, which is our main objective for the short term.
We also used this transfer season as an opportunity to increase our Swiss rider contingent with two riders that will be new to the professional scene. Martin Schäppi is a young talent who we believe fits in the mold of countryman and legend Fabian Cancellara. Matteo Badilatti is another rider who is a capable climber and will help guide Amador and Schelling through the mountains.
Aside from these riders, we are bringing in Sonomtseren Delgerbayar from BNZ Cycling Team on a loan. He will help out in the flat and cobbled races.
Finally, our major training this year was focused on home-grown talent Patrick Schelling, who will look to step into his leadership role as a stage racer in the PT division. He received +1 mountain and +1 time trial.
The full tentative roster is shown below, will training included (But Pat Muller missing!):

We are going into the 2018 season with lofty goals seeing as I expect 2019 to be a rebuilding year regardless of what happens. Our main GT focus this year will be the Giro d'Italia and this is where Amador will go to hopefully contend for the win. Otherwise, Patrick Schelling will lead the team at the Tour and the Vuelta. Amador will also race Paris Nice and the Tour de Suisse, which we also have listed under our goals.
| Target | Goal | Rider | | Paris Nice | Win | Amador | | Tour de Suisse | Win | Amador | | Giro d'Italia | Win | Amador | | Tour de France | Top 5 | Schelling | | Team Standings | Win | |
I'd also like to release our newest NC jersey: The Bolivian TT champion's jersey of Basilio Ramos Ticona. We continue our partnership with the_hoyle, who designed the jersey as he has in the past. Our main and retained NC jerseys are unchanged from 2017 because I love it so much.
The current jersey and NC jerseys may be found on page 1. Thank you for reading, and I look forward to seeing you all during the season!

At Least the TTT Squad Works
We haven't had much success so far in our return to the ProTour. In terms of GC, we have barely been able to crack the top 10 in the majority of races we have entered, and we failed miserably in our goal to win Paris - Nice (Amador took 8th). One ray of sunlight has come in the success of our TTT lineups.
The first TTT of the season, Copenhagen - Malmo, went very well and we placed 2nd at the end of the day. I am very happy with that result as we did beat some other very strong squads. Most recently though, we won the opening TTT for the Vuelta al Pais Vasco, in a thrilling finish of which 4 teams came within one second of eachother. I have invested heavily in building a TTT line-up that can also support our leaders in the mountains, and we are having huge success at the highest level with still more to come.
On the way to winning Stage 1 of the Vuelta al Pais Vasco.
Another highlight of the young season has been Mirco Saggiorato's performance at Paris - Nice. Mirco was highly active in the breakaways, and ended up winning after the breakaway survived to the line on stage 6. The breakaway survived again the next day and he placed 5th, obviously feeling the efforts from the day before. He was active in the KoM competition and eventually finished 2nd.
Mirco Saggiorato takes the teams first win of the season in Lelex Mount Jura during stage 6 of Paris - Nice.
Thank you for reading!
