So you are saying if my background was the same yellow as the navigation bar it would look a little better? From looking at inrng, it doesn't even look to have any color besides white and grey Pfft

One last question, how do you think I could make the black text headers look on the home page to make them blend in a little better and not look so plain

Prayers go out to everyone in Las Vegas this morning. Last night the USA saw its worst mass shooting in history as 50+ were killed by a 64 year old man from the 32nd floor of a building that was overseeing a Jason Aldean country music concert on the streets. Gunman was killed after injuring at least 200 people with a military style automatic weapon.

The death total surpassed the Orlando Pulse gay night club from last year.

Sad to hear. Thoughts are with them. Maybe the US needs to change their gun-laws a bit.

Hoping this is a wake up call to have a calm discussion about it. Both sides are too defensive about their stance to ever have a solid conversation that gets you anywhere.

Best of luck but this isn't going to happen. If none of the other tragedies could spark that rational debate this one won't either.
Even less so in the current political climate in the US. And it's such a shame.

Yeah, all I hear is either "all guns" or "no guns". There's not only black and white. There's compromises to make.

I wish it was soon, but there are just too many people who are strong 2nd amendment rights that want to keep all 5+ guns they own for no reason but for them to sit in a gun cabinet Rolling Eyes

But would it not be a problem if only the criminals and the police would have guns? If you would to ban them? There is SO MANY guns in circulation right now, and making it harder for legit people to get different guns don't influence the nutjobs and criminals to get them. They will get their hands on a gun if they really want them.

Here in Norway, a few years back, we had a nutjob with a machine gun going crazy. And guns are illegal here. It's a hard one to solve, espacialy when it's part of your constituion.

Thats only if there are a high number of guns that are unregistered. Registered guns can be tracked down. Its not a matter of banning all guns, but banning quick magazine fast shooting guns and military style guns. It always feels here in the USA that you are going to be in the wrong place at the wrong time at some point Frown

Speaking from an economics perspective purely, the supply of guns in circulation is almost perfectly elastic at this point. Basically, there are so many guns in circulation already that it's impossible to even make a dent now. No matter want the demand is, the supply is there. It's already been sold. I bet I could get a gun right now if I wanted and did a little research. It'd be illegal as I'm under age and Connecticut has restrictive laws, but I could do it. They are not hard to come by.

Sure thing! Have the NRA made a statement yet?

Yeah they said:

"NRA is deeply saddened by what happened. It’s not a reflection of the majority of gun owners in Nevada. NRA gun owners are dedicated to responsible and safe use of firearms. This is a tragedy."

You guys are right, its impossible to monitor anything like that, similar to artists trying to monitor illegally downloading MP3's online. It can never be stopped at this point. It's a matter of people being responsible.

That's actually a really good analogy with music. Once the floodgates were opened, it's impossible to reign it back in.

But is it better to accept this as a normality, saying "there's too many guns now" or to try and solve the problem?
Start making it less culturally acceptable. Start making it harder to get guns. Start taking them off suspect individuals.
It would take years, but hey there's only been something like 110 mass shootings between 2009 and 2014 (a single shooting where 4+ were killed), that couldn't have been reduced at all with a 5 years of action to tackle gun issues.

Years? It would take centuries. There's more guns than people in this country, and enough of them are made to last.

I'm all for some forms of gun control, I'm just saying their effectiveness would pretty much been null for a really long time.

This is 100 true. Nothing in America is going to change regarding gun control for a long time. If a massive shooting at an elementary school a few years back (sandy hook) can't do anything, then neither will this.

Also, there's been 1,518 mass shootings (in the study cited, mass shooting = 4 people shot, not necessarily killed) in the united states since sandy hook and for every week since then, there has been a shooting on a school campus.

it's never going to change, which is really unfortunate because it can be prevented by the shooter not having a gun (wow what a wild thing to say). I'm not saying fully outlaw guns bc i know thats never gonna happen, but if a 13 year old can walk into a gun show and buy a gun on the spot in 15 minutes (I've seen this), then literally anyone can, and that's a really scary idea.
