Updated DB and Training List 2017
SportingNonsense
Here it is: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tu2edyj859i...B.xls?dl=0

All changes from transfers have now been applied.

There is an addition of a Countries worksheet, thanks to Roman. As well as describing which countries each three letter code belongs to, it provides the PCM.daily flag code too.

And here is the list of training for the season:

Not what I had hoped for, but not entirely what I had feared either.

Training is crazy as always. Do hate/like the Kwiatek upgrade. Good for the nation, not good for trying to maximizing points this season Smile

Ian Butler and Sancor are going to wet themselves for next season when they see that DB , I'm assuming these free agents are for the U23 races?

cio93
Are you REALLY sure about some of these random talents, or are they just in to make Avenir some more fun and will get replaced with the real top talents next season?

SportingNonsense
There are 186 Avenir eligible riders with teams, there aren't going to be any free agents in any of the U23 races.

So we will see sneakily added riders like Areruya, Gidich, Wirtgen and Kyeng Ho Min (?) dominate the ManGame in 5 years?
While not even considering the actually crazy part of the generation with Bernal, Gaudu, Sivakov, Kämna, Philipsen, Costa (maybe), Lambrecht, Hindley etc. yet?

Sorry if my grumpy 2am self doesn't quite understand the point of it yet. Maybe everyone else agrees with those.

No, I suspect the likes of Herklotz and Demare will be amongst those dominating in five seasons time, with stats far exceeding any 1995-1996 born riders that are added before the 2018 transfer season - whether or not they have been added already, or will follow post-season, and regardless of what final stats they end up having.

MG is a very different cycling world to real life, with globalisation at the top level having by far exceeded real life for many many years. Naturally, talents are going to be developing differently. Although Gidich, incidentally, is the 1996 rider with the highest amount of CQ points right now.

I agree we need good riders from all over the world, and I agree I'm in a bad position to argue, I just remember we had this discussion about not adding world beaters after the Dombrowski thing.

And Wirtgen for example would max out as the third strongest TTer in the whole DB with better stats than I'd even suggest for Kämna, and Areruya would come with a somewhat handy 83sta and 81acc as a puncheur which would be the strongest secondary skillset of any puncheur in the world straight out of maxing (alternatively, 82sta 85rec as sprinter). Not even to mention that his stat gain versatility makes Mathieu VdP look boring.

And Gidich got those points against Bibby and Marangoni while riding for Vino's team, we all know that amounts to as much as Pourseyedi winning every race Iran had to offer.

But I'll just leave it be for others to voice their opinion and we'll see next season. No intentions of losing credibility and appreciation.

There's a lot of time to tinker with riders, to avoid unintended alternative development routes being far too tempting. e.g. Wirtgen was added with Stage Race in mind, Areruya with Climber v1 (and not really noticing the Sprint stat).

It simply made sense to do some initial work now, focusing on some smaller countries, but at the same time not spending much time on them - as they really don't matter right now. A little 'easter egg' in the DB.

Of course, super-strong talent 'mistakes' like Herklotz will be guarded against, but only to an extent. We wouldn't want a situation that we're likely to see in this season's Avenir to be repeated at GT level in how ever many seasons time. But it's hardly worth going into this in great detail now, as it will be months before the 2018 DB prep even needs to be started.

I apologize for jumping onto this waaay prematurely, being kept awake by a nasty cold at 2am took a toll on me.
They are fun to look at for the moment, and as you say that's all there is to it as there are absolutely no effects for at least another year.

And you should still thank me for messing up his xp, it could be even worse after all. Wink

sammyt93
Of these "easter egg" riders, Patrick Muller is down as a 25 year old when he's actually 21, his D.O.B in the DB is 8.7.1992 when it's actually 18.4.1996.

And thanks to the new addition of Federico Olei I've found a lot of names that could potentially be added for minor European nations in the future.

Dammit I was going to suggest some of those guys next year Pfft

Thanks for the DB though Grin

This is not too bad for us I think.

Grosu and Coquard staying on par with eachother, but other than that no real sprinters training at high level suggests that Coquard should have a better season. Also really happy that I didn't decide to make him +2SPR as he would have likely been a 3 star favorite now and again, but without any sort of train to help him.

Mainly trainings were done where it doesn't really interfere with my riders position in the points list:

For Clement Koretzky there was a development with Sean De Bie, Simone Ponzi, Ion Izagirre, Jack Bobridge, Peter Sagan and Alexey Lutsenko. Most of those riders were already a level above Koretzky, so just stay that way, while Izagirre didn't quite get up. The only thing I fear is the level up from the natural DB thing, and maybe to see what Arnaud Demare and Michael van Stayen can do in the hardest hilly races. Whether they can push Koretzky down a spot or two is an open question, but hopefully they will wait for the sprint, while Koretzky is ahead Smile

Pierre-Henri Lecuisinier took a step up, while riders like Guldhammer, Keizer, Monsalve, Alarcon, Tenorio, Dombrowski, Phinney, Wellens, Nerz and Cattaneo all stayed the same. Riders like Taaramae and Kritskiy were already ahead. So only negative is Lachlan Morton stepping up. So very happy with the advance in that category.

And as already suggested, Bryan Coquard moves closer to the elite, while not getting too close to actually being a top 3 favorite, which is perfect. Then my leadouts can develop for another season before hopefully making it into the top 3 sprinters Smile

Even in the cobbles departement nothing major happened, so Tom David is still around 15th in the PT with Jacobs also around 20th. Only Trentin, who was already better, moved up. Aker must be very very pleased with that, also having an additional 6 riders in the top 30 Smile

A small suggestion for next time could be to add (S) after the team name for stagiares instead of adding them as S in the division. It messes up the sorting when listing the teams. I have corrected it for myself, but just for next season Smile

I think last years DB had stagiares as PTS, PCTS and CTS respectively instead of all under S, or one year it did anyway as I remember seeing it and I know I wouldn't have done it myself.

So that appears to more or less be my work for the "rider suggestions" thread done already Wink

Not quite sure if I find it interesting or terrifying looking over PCT top riders in different areas. Hopefully Il Toro can live up to last season as Gautier is a bit further down the list than I had hoped.

Well I would maybe had him at 85 maxed in his main stat but I needed to be a bit realistic so I´m happy how he looks now, to bad you cant make a late signing Pfft

Nikita Umerbekov and Nikita Stalnov are the same guy. He changed last name.
