Podium
1) Peter Sagan
2) Greg van Avermaet
3) Michael Matthews
Answer to Bonus Question: Will a new country win the race? is No.
Peter Sagan got the repeat in Quebec in a repeat of last year's top 2 result. Greg van Avermaet once again had to settle for 2nd place. Michael Matthews claimed 3rd to be best among the rest. Sagan was picked by five of our members while van Avermaet had four backers. Matthews managed to catch the fancy of just two managers. Ulissi was a popular pick with four of our participants going for him but he only managed 11th place. All but two of our predictors got the bonus question right, as Slovakia prevented a new country from winning the race. In fairness, all three nationalities on the podium were previous winners!
Raziz picks up the double points bonus having got the podium spot-on. He also correctly answered the bonus question to further stamp his authority on the competition. Naturally, he is also the winner in this race.
Updated table to come after GP de Montreal results. Stay tuned...

Podium
1) Diego Ulissi
2) Jesus Herrada
3) Tom-Jelte Slagter
Answer to Bonus Question: Will we have the first repeat winner? is No.
Ulissi triumphed from a six man break to win the race. He was also the only one among the podium finishers to have been backed for a podium.
Interestingly, no one who picked Ulissi got the bonus question right! As such, the four members - Jandal, Raziz, Abhishek and United Forever - who picked Ulissi pick up the win in this race. This was United Forever's first completed race of the season. Croatia is the only one not scoring here.
The updated table looks like this:
Name | Races Entered | Bonuses | Total Points | Raziz | 32 | 320 | 1070 | jandal7 | 32 | 300 | 910 | AbhishekLFC | 32 | 260 | 870 | Marcovdw | 33 | 225 | 840 | Selwink | 29 | 325 | 830 | purepasd | 29 | 230 | 810 | Aquarius | 27 | 220 | 805 | emre99 | 31 | 250 | 750 | Croatia14 | 33 | 200 | 500 | Ian Butler | 6 | 50 | 245 | Luxemburger | 7 | 90 | 165 | Squire | 4 | 60 | 100 | United Forever | 1 | 0 | 20 | trekbmc | 2 | 0 | 0 |
Following the Canadian weekend, it seems like only a miracle can now stop Raziz winning the title. His perfect score in Quebec and his win in Montreal puts him a whopping 160 points ahead of second placed Jandal. He is also the time predictor to reach 1000 points in the history of this game. We have new members climbing to 3rd and 4th positions as both Abhishek and Marco have a good weekend. Selwink and Purepasd, who missed both races, are the big losers. In fact, Purepasd is now in danger of losing his spot to Aquarius, who has had an excellent season, given the late start. Emre and Croatia are now in a race of their own while United Forever moves above the bottom placing at the first outing.
Results for the Vuelta will come tomorrow. Stay tuned...

Top 5
1) Chris Froome
2) Vicenzo Nibali
3) Ilnur Zakarin
4) Wilco Kelderman
5) Alberto Contador
KOM: Davide Villella
Points: Chris Froome
U25: Miguel Angel Lopez
Answer to Bonus Question: Will we see a new Grand Tour GC winner here? is No
Answer to Bonus Question: How many stages will be won in large group sprints? is 3
Chris Froome put in a dominant display to win his second GT of he year and in succession. He was a very popular pick among our predictors with only one member not picking him up. Second placed Nibali was the next most popular with eight picks. Contador and Aru both had six picks, but the latter disappointed. Zakarin wasn't far behind either with five selections while Kelderman had only one backer. No one picked Villella to win the KOM jersey while Froome had only one backer for the Points jersey. Similarly, only one member picked Miguel Angel Lopez for the U25 win. All but two members got the first bonus question right but no one got the second one right.
The one backer for Kelderman was Selwink, who perfectly picked the top 5! He picks up the stage win getting the full 90 points for his picks and a double score. This is the first time that anyone has picked up a double score in a Grand Tour! He also got the first bonus question right. Picking up joint second is Purepasd and Abhishek with their identical top five picks of Froome, Nibali and Zakarin. Purepasd picked Lopez for the U25s and Abhishek had Froome locked on for the points jersey. Emre was the only other centurion in this race.
The wildly changed top of the table looks like this after the Vuelta:
Name | Races Entered | Bonuses | Total Points | Raziz | 33 | 330 | 1160 | Selwink | 30 | 435 | 1020 | AbhishekLFC | 33 | 270 | 995 | jandal7 | 33 | 300 | 975 | purepasd | 30 | 240 | 935 | Marcovdw | 34 | 235 | 915 | Aquarius | 28 | 230 | 875 | emre99 | 32 | 260 | 860 | Croatia14 | 34 | 200 | 500 | Ian Butler | 6 | 50 | 245 | Luxemburger | 7 | 90 | 165 | Squire | 4 | 60 | 100 | United Forever | 2 | 10 | 95 | trekbmc | 2 | 0 | 0 |
Selwink takes a massive leap up from 5th to 2nd after this race. His effort is enough to cut the size of Raziz's lead. The former becomes the second ever to reach 1000 points in the history of this game. Abhishek also rides on his good showing to move above Jandal, but still remains in 3rd place. The big losers in this race are Jandal and Marco. Jandal loses his 2nd place to fall to 4th while Marco moves down from 4th to 6th, and now under pressure from a charging Aquarius and Emre. Talking of the latter pair, Emre closes in on Aquarius by forty points. Croatia scores zero once again while United Forever is close to picking up another place after just his second race.
With just six races to go, and not a lot of points available, it will take a humongous effort from the chasing pack to catch Raziz. Can it be done? Yes. Will it be done? As of now, it looks unlikely. If it happens, it will be a massive shock!

Entries are now open for the World Championships.
Here's what's coming up and the respective deadline. Two common bonus questions for the three races...
1) Team Time Trial
Deadline: 17th September, Midnight, GMT
2) Individual Time Trial
Deadline: 20th September, Midnight, GMT
3) Road Race
Deadline: 24th September, Midnight, GMT
Bonus Question 1: Which country will win the most medals in these three races? Tied results give points to both. And remember only medal count matters. (15 points)
Bonus Question 2: Among riders completing both ITT and RR, who will have the best aggregate position? (15 points)
Deadilne for Bonus Questions is the same as that for the TTT, i.e. 17th September, Midnight GMT.
A special bonus of 20 points will be awarded to anyone guessing winners of all three races correctly.
Also remember that the World Champs have double points in the same format as the Monuments, so a lot to play for still.

Year Long Questions Set 3 - Answers and Points
1) Which rider will win the most Grand Tour stages this year? - Marcel Kittel (5 wins)
Kittel won five out of the first eleven stages in the Tour de France before retiring in the third week. Gaviria, with four wins in the Giro, and Matteo Trentin, also with four wins, in the Vuelta, were the closest challengers. Incredibly, all of them ride for Quickstep.
2) Which team will win the most Grand Tour stages this year? - Quickstep
With a whopping 16 stage wins, Quickstep blew away the competition. When you have the best sprinter in each of the three GTs, it helps!
3) Which rider will finish highest in the GC in their home Grand Tour? - Vicenzo Nibali and Romain Bardet (3rd in Giro and Tour, respectively)
Nibali climbed onto the bottom step of the podium in his home GT this year after winning it last year. Bardet was third behind the dominant Froome and the surprise package Uran. In the Vuelta, Contador was the best Spaniard, finishing 5th.
4) Which rider, eligible for U25s classification, will finish highest in the GC in their home Grand Tour? - Davide Formolo (10th, Giro)
Formolo's brilliant ride to 10th place in the Giro wins him this competition. None of the other U25s could make a major impact in their home GTs.
5) Which rider from a Pro Continental team will finish highest in the GC in a Grand Tour? - Jan Hirt (12th, Giro)
Hirt's 12th place in the Giro seemed like an amazing achievement and it definitely was. Both Brice Feillu, 16th for Fortuneo Oscaro at the Tour, and Sergio Pardilla, 15th for Caja Rujal at the Vuelta, came close.
Scoring (with correct answers in brackets)
Emre | 105 (2,3,4,5) | Marco | 50 (2,4) | Selwink | 80 (2,3,5) | Purepasd | 80 (2,3,5) | Croatia | 105 (2,3,4,5) | Jandal | 80 (3,4,5) | Raziz | 105 (2,3,4,5) | Abhishek | 80(3,4,5) | Aquarius | 25 (2) |
The updated table now looks like this:
Name | Races Entered | Bonuses | Total Points | Raziz | 33 | 435 | 1265 | Selwink | 30 | 515 | 1100 | AbhishekLFC | 33 | 350 | 1075 | jandal7 | 33 | 380 | 1055 | purepasd | 30 | 320 | 1015 | emre99 | 32 | 365 | 965 | Marcovdw | 34 | 285 | 965 | Aquarius | 28 | 255 | 900 | Croatia14 | 34 | 305 | 605 | Ian Butler | 6 | 50 | 245 | Luxemburger | 7 | 90 | 165 | Squire | 4 | 60 | 100 | United Forever | 2 | 10 | 95 | trekbmc | 2 | 0 | 0 |
Raziz opens up his lead once again while Selwink loses ground to those behind him as well. The major movement is made by Emre, who moves above Aquarius and is now tied with Marco for 6th place. For everyone else, it's as you were as after the Vuelta. Three more members join the 1000 club.

A reminder that the deadline for the WC TTT and the bonus questions is in around 36 hours.
