I'm getting into the pro-cyclist mode despite my initial hesitation.

I'm only happy when I'm not winning in general when playing computer games.

My question is how do I make a pro-cyclist with the normal maximum potential but lower starting stats.

So if I chose a 19 year old with Grand Champion potential Stage Races his starting Mountain and TT might be 69.

Of course I can edit these stats down but my question is will that stop me reaching the maximum potential given that stats increase with levels?

Is there a maximum number of levels that mean even if my potential Climbing is 84 I don't get there because I have lowered my starting stats?...

hope that's clear-basically I'm worried that lowering my starting stats effectively mean reducing my potential stats,,...

In the db, you can edit your stat limits right after you've started your career.

Thanks. I know that my question is does reducing my stats prevent me rider reaching his potential maximums? (because there are only so many levels....)

Not necessarily, but it kind of does. It mostly depends on the training you will do. If you make a climber and train him in mountain only, if you lower his cobble stat he'll struggle to come close to his potential because his stats are even lower.
