Being placed in u23 races means nothing, you can look at many of the riders doing well there, being nobodies in the pro peloton. If they even have a profesional contract. He has been on the World tour since 2014 with zero wins to his record, and now suddenly he bags 4 wins in a row. I don't buy it.

Having zero pro wins for a long time doesn't mean anything either. Just look at Benoot. I wouldn't be surprised if he still wins two or three races this season. Teuns doesn't come from nowhere. You only have to look at his results at the ardennes classics. I think it was only a matter of time until he wins his first pro races.

All you have to do is look at his race calender for the past few years. Now suddenly when his contract runs out he starts winning. Seen this to many times, the "golden contract year".

You should look for suspicious things somewhere else not at Teuns. No reason for that.
Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

Nothing suspicious about Teuns. All I see is steady progress and now hes in peak shape. He's the next puncheur superstar.

Actually impressed how well Sagan did on this stage. Incredible ride.

Also, this can't be Teuns contract year. He was a stagiare in 2014, so he signed a two-year contract until 2016 (neo-pro contract). There is no way that he signed just one year for this contract.

And on top of thaf, BMC never reveals lenght of contract

BMC did reveal length of contract when Andy Rihs talked about maybe ending sponsorship this spring. He said only Porte has a contract beyond 2017.

They didn't give anyone else contracts beyond 2017 because they can't guarantee sponsorship. Same with Quickstep.

Turns out sponsorship will continue so they started signing new contracts but I didn't hear about Teuns signing one so far

Seriously, look at the guys Teuns beat in Wallonnie, nothing impressive about that. Today he had a great win that looks like natural progress after he already did well in 2016, although he had no wins.

So basicly aany young rider winning a few in a row is suspicious. I guess that makes sense, I never trusted that Sagan guy when he took 2 Paris-nice stages. He's probably doping as well!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Impressive the amount of heat you can get on this forum, for a comment. Anyway to close this one down.

I got my Sagan avatar around early 2015, before he went full on beast, i wouldn't bet a dime on him passing a lie detector test on his cleaness today. Maybe he was already juiced before 2015, chances are good, but we don't know.

Teuns has done nothing in the past 3 years, he hasn't been close to any wins and then when the "golden contract year" comes knocking, he gets third in Fleche Wallone and goes complete beast mode in Wallonie and now here in Poland. It looks weird.

Now considering that I myself wouldn't bet a dime on Sagan, why freak out about Teuns then? Well, if there is one thing that can piss me off, it's riders who haven't done shit-nickel in their past seasons, and then suddenly takes home 5-7 wins on a contract season. We've all seen cycling long enough to know that often times this isn't just "extra motivation" that does the trick.

I'll give you that me calling him out like that, was uncalled for, but I stick to my opinion that his performance is suspicious.

Now let's get back to commenting on the races. We can make a clinic thread for this kind of stuff.

Teuns is a young potential talented puncher. BMC knew that or saw a potential thats why they had signed him from their development team.
Every rider has different time in career when he come out of the dark and becomes more visible to the others. I would not call it as suspicious. He is young, he has potential and maybe from this year onwards we are going to see him more and more upfront. I would call it suspicious if he will not be able to confirm this results in the near future. So maybe we should wait and see Pfft

True. if he does "shit-nickel" (yes i made that term up myself Pfft) next year, then this breaktrough season he has had, suddenly looks a bit off. But you are right, I was way to fast out of the startblock with this one considering his age and all.

Great stage from Sagan, the guy is fresh and on the hunt after the Tour jury disgraceful move, will be a great triple WC in Autumn. Cool

And when i see him climb in such a fashion, i wonder what could happen with him dropping some 10kgs, if he gets bored of being "punchy sprinting flat beast".

Teuns with fantastic ride though and deserved win!
I'll be back
