Too bad only one place counts in this kind of race.

Always sad to get that close to a Nat. jersey, but better get a podium than a 9th or something
I doubt he'll be happy with two silver medals.

Campeonato de España - Road Race
Ibiza, 196.6 kms
It took two laps for a group to get away. The lucky trio consisted of were Gervasio Vilda, Miguel MÃnguez and oldest, 33 y/o Herrada brother José. It took until the ultimate bump to catch them as Vilda vainly accelerated. Right before the reeling in occured the other Herrada, Jesús, snuck away in the final descent. A mere 13 kilometers left to race on the party island. Our two-man train for Barbero came out on top in Ibiza Town. While co-favourite Lobato crashed in the ultimate corner, Herrada was still in front in the last 1500 meters. Could our sprinter still do something about that? Carlos easily won the bunch sprint but sadly, Herrada's move made it to the line. A few hitches before the final straight may have make us waste a unique opportunity. We did achieve the top 5 goal, but who cares now. Campionato de Italia - Road Race Gabicce, 240.5 kms
Two laps into the race, 3 riders accelerated. We're talking about Gianluca Mengardo (Bardiani), Luca Muffolini (Nippo) and IAM's sprinter Elia Viviani. Despite a lack of competitive racing after his rib fracture, Edoardo would stay with the favourites group for all but one laps. Then he was dropped. Manfredi and Ratto shook off the rest during the last lap. Fedi paid for an earlier attack and a third group with current champion Bottura sat at 30". While Battaglin overruled Fedi for the bronze medal, both win and jersey went to Androni and Daniele Ratto, once victor of a GT stage at la Vuelta. @ both: that's a curse and feeling we certainly have become way to familiar with over the last couple of races.

Belgisch Kampioenschap - Road Race Malmedy, 242.1 kms
The breakaway duo consisted of the rather unknown Jelle Mannaerts and Mathias Van Gompel, taking part for Veranclassic and Cibel respectively. Due to the selective route a group of 17 men broke free with over 180km to go. Most guys were either Quick-Step or Lotto; Sam was in there too. Sam bridged to the break on his own but 40 km from the finish, the new front group consisted of 8 riders. Wellens, Van Gestel, Vliegen, Serry and current champion Benoot and Sam, among others. Five more laps to go. As rained started to pour down Sam would keep up until the penultimate lap. When he intended to set the pace on the hill himself Benoot and Van Gestel showed they still could go faster, with ease. Wellens bridged later. Another acceleration on the last bump was sufficient for Benoot to secure back-to-back road race wins. At least another year in the tricolor for him. Belgisch Kampioenschap Road Race 2019 Race results 1 | | Tiesj Benoot | Lotto - Soudal | 7h06'45" | 2 | | Tim Wellens | Tinkoff | + 1'16" | 3 | | Dries Van Gestel | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 4 | | Pieter Serry | Lotto - Soudal | + 2'01" | 5 | | Loïc Vliegen | Lotto - Soudal | s.t. | 6 | | Sam Vandenborre | RuralvÃa - Seguros RGA | + 2'24" | 7 | | Dylan Teuns | Lotto - Soudal | + 2'59" | 8 | | Jordi van Dingenen | Quick-Step Floors | s.t. | 9 | | Bart De Clercq | Lotto - Soudal | + 3'25" | 10 | | Mathias Van Gompel | Cibel | + 5'26" |

Campeonato de Brasil - Road Race Londrina, 181.3 kms
If a race only has four riders, you need each other's back when someone decides to attack. If that's not the case one can simply snatch the jersey. Guess what happened when Ednaldo intended to chase Rafael Andriato. Campeonato de Brasil Road Race 2019 Race result 1 | | Rafael Andriato | UnitedHealthcare Pro Team | 4h14'08" | 2 | | Ednaldo L. Cortes | RuralvÃa - Seguros RGA | + 6'20" | | | João Marcelo Gaspar | Team Smartstop | DNF | | | Aldo Cláudio Palmeiro | Team Felbermayr Simplon Wels | DNF |

RuralvÃa to the Nationals Rider reactions Carlos Barbero Spain 'Disappointed? You bet I am; the route on Ibiza really suited me. Judging by how easy I won the bunch sprint, I think it is fair to say I had the legs to win. I can only blame myself though, should have countered Herrada's attack while I could. Our team train was outstanding, Herrada was out of reach nonetheless. I consider this a unique chance now dead and buried.' Edoardo Zardini Italy 'It's been a while since I was on the bike for such a long ride. Keeping up so long is far more than I expected and I'm very happy with a 12th place. I still feel pain in the ribs when coughing or sneezing but it does feel very good to be back. I'm pleased to confirm a 2y-renewal with the team too.' Sam Vandenborre Belgium Being a former national champion I felt really embarrassed after my time trial performance. Even if it was partly affected by the fact that I've been ill for a couple of days now. Despite getting diagnosed with stomach flu, I was dead against dropping the road race. I felt a little better but rain and cold would kick in on the final laps, and I completely ran out of strength.' Ruben Guerreiro Portugal Finishing second twice is unfortunate to say the least. All in all I'm happy with my shape ahead of my first Tour. The white jersey is the main goal.'

Lacked that little bit that's needed to claim a jersey indeed. I'm sure Edoardo will be motivated for two more years after having to abandon the latest Giro.

I feel like it's safe to answer your question with 'yes'. To explain why I feel that way I included a list of his major results with us since joining in 2018*.
Giro d'Italia | Won 2 stages | Giro d'Italia | Came 4th overall | Giro d'Italia | 4th in points standings | GP de Québec | Won the race | Flèche Wallonne | Came 4th | Ruta del Sol | Came 2nd overall | Tour de Romandie | 6th overall, 2nd points | Tirreno-Adriatico | 10th overall | Trofeo Pollença | Won the race | Classic Sud-Ardèche | Won the race |
Giro d'Italia | Won 1 stage | Giro d'Italia | Came 6th overall | Tirreno-Adriatico | Came 4th overall | Strade Bianche | Came in 5th | Tour de Romandie | Came 7th overall | Tour de Suisse | Came 9th overall | Roma Maxima | Came in 4th |
Spoiler * Keep in mind I started with a DB that dates quite a while back, which means that in-game Ion (particularly) is not as much of a climber as he is now in real life.
