I would have left 1 more guy with Dan Martin and that would be Stybar. Lets not forget there are 7 guys left as Trentin and Phil are no more.
Aru somehow managed to not miss it despite being a 1 man army too
I was told Vermote and Stybar was sick, so no easy task
Well that sucks then |

Obviously most of it has to fall on Martin because he is bad at positioning and always has been. I'm just saying that knowing that as a DS you would think they would account for it.

I guess this has allready been mentioned but.... anyway, Degenkolb was not happy about Matthews sprint but Matthews after the stage ''I dont know what's the matter with him, it is not fair play beviour off him. I did nothing wrong in my sprint as you can clearly see on tv. I keept a 100% straight line and never changed line att all''
I guess they showed something else on Australian TV... |

Well Matthews is a fake and I don't particularly like Degenkolb and his rage fits so don't really care in this case |

Nice stage. Great ride by Sunweb and Matthews. Hoping that Matthews wins green after his great riding this Tour!

Gonna be glorious if Froome ends up chasing Landa.

I really don't understand the #FreeLanda crap. He knew what he was getting into when he signed on with Sky after a career year where he could have gotten leadership on 90% of other WT teams just for more money. This is what he gets. Screw him.

That moment, when everyone on the last pages said, that he sprinted unfair and you come along and wish him green after he basically doesn't deserve it.

Sunweb and Matthews has ridden very aggressively this Tour, and I'd rather see him win green than Kittel.

He was unfair today and he isn't the best sprinter. And the green jersey should go to the best sprinter. Matthews is just there to pick the pieces.

Points Jersey /=/ Sprinter Jersey
Points Jersey is meant to go to the most rounded on all stages, but with heavy bias on points on flat sprints it is such, however Matthews or Sagan winning it is far more impressive than 100metre Kittel |

I still don't get why they throw every egg in one basket. Crosswinds was predicted and the profile was not really in the favor for Kittel. GC possibilities vs a few extra points in the sprint classification which he still leads even if Matthews took every point possible yesterday, and he a lot bigger favorite than Matthews in the two remaining stages. Martin would have leaded the tour with 6 seconds if you take away the time he lost with Porte and yesterday. And the fact he is still injured makes me think he could recover a little for tomorrow at the alps and do even better.

Sadly it currently is that way. There should be like 75 points on every flat stage finish and 10 points on intermediate sprints. Matthews or Sagans wins are not really impressive in my opinion, because they also only do a 300m sprint, but against much weaker opposition. The green jersey should be for the best sprinter and not for a guy, who is just mediocre every stage and who can only win stages, when the strong sprinters aren't there.

For Champs-Elysees, yes, Kittel is a far bigger favourite and much more likely winner, but Stage 19? I'm not so sure. If teams go hard early and Kittel ain't feeling well, he could get dropped early on again (two fairly short, moderate difficulty climbs come within the first 50km, and there are also several uncategorised climbs/uphill false flat climbs) and not come back like today especially with a later climb (tops out with 45km to go, easy enough for a few teams to keep pace up to stop him from coming back) as well which is probably difficult enough to drop Kittel by a minute or more, so I'd say Matthews is actually a bigger favourite for Stage 19 than Kittel due to these climbs. |

Martin would not have lead the Tour. He just got "allowed" to take seconds back, because they were not watching him, since he is no danger. If he wouldn't have crashed, they would've pursued every attack by him. He's nowhere near the strongest. He's good this tour, but he's always on the back of the group, hanging on for dear life.

Matthews sprint was a bit suss but I doubt Degenkolb was gonna beat him, if anyone would it'd be EBH.
As for green jersey, I love that it's not just a sprinters jersey. Makes stage like last night so much more interesting, and means you have to work hard all tour to win, not just show up on the flat stages. Kittel will probably still win but Matthews is very strong and it's good to have another contender. He's just doing what Sagan has always done and everyone loves Petey.

Read some comments here is so painful.
Free Landa*insert stupid name end here* shit...green jersey is sprinters jersey...oh gosh, it is like talking the sport with bunch of 10 years old girls, come on guys, you are new to the sport?
Obvious Quickstep fail is obvious, no need to drag Kittel somewhere in this stage, time limit was never an issue, that will be an issua today maybe, but yesterday, Martin needed help more than Kittel.
Deserved win for Matthews...sprinters are tough guys and sometimes sprint hard and not totally straight, usual scenery every year, nothing new.

And the green jersey should go to the best sprinter.
What kind of BS is that?
The green jersey should go to whoever manages to get the most point. It doesn't matter if it's Thomas de Gendt for being in attacks all the time, Chris Froome because they're distributed evenly and he finishes high on a couple of stages or Kittel because he wins 21 stages.
Or is Sagan just the best sprinter in the world, having won it 6 times in a row? |
