Can't start the game!!!

Hi

I have just bought the game. When I started it, it said that it was running, I could see that on steam, but the game screen never showed up, and I have tried multiple times getting it to work but without any sort of succes what so ever. I have never come across an issue of this magnitude, and I really don't know what to do. Please help!

Tried checking game's integrity in the steams properties?

I have now chosen the option on steam that says "verify integrity of game files", and it said when I was about to restart that there was some sort of conflict with the local data and the data on the cloud, but I have no idea what that means. It still starts up as slow as before unfortunately...
