Tour de France 2017 | Stage 4 | Mondorf - Le -Bains - Vittel

Like I said before, both riders share the guilt for the crash. Putting Sagan at the back of the group for the stage would have been absolutely fine though. Stripping him of extra points? A bit exaggerated. Throw him out of the race? Are they insane?

I agree the elbow looks bad from the above replay, but we don't really see what's happening there because of the tree. From the replay from the front we can see Cavendish is already going down when Sagan sticks his elbow out.

We've all seen worse moves in a sprint not be punished, and less harsh moves also be punished. Because you could never write a black & white rule for such a scenario there will always be room for personal interpretation. I didn't see the stage or anything until the late evening and watched all the slo-mo's and stills. And having looked at them i couldn't tell you who was at fault because half show Sagan being an idiot and half show others being idiots. You can make it show whatever you want.

What would help is better communication from the Jury. A longer statement of reason, perhaps paired against video footage so we can see what they see and know their full thoughts. Rather than the constant guessing we have all over the internet.

The Jury doesn't throw a rider out for nothing. In their minds they must be 110% convinced of the decision. That is good enough for me. I don't agree with the DQ but i'm not going to let it spoil 15 other stages of racing. I also hope Sagan comes back and smashes a few other races this year in style, put anyone who doubts his ability or style to rights.

Anyway, back to the Giro where racing is just as good and a damn sight less controversial Pfft

This Tour badly needs Froome to take a crap at the bottom of Galibier now. Otherwise Im out.

Sagan should have been relegated, and maybe penalized with some points in green jersey, which was the original penaltt. But somehow, suddenly, he is DQ. Why? Another complaint from Team Dimension Data.

Dimension Data, official sponsor of Le Tour. Something that i dont know how it's even legal. Also, UCI president's son works in that team. Another fairly cuestionable thing. If you join those things with the fact that the team star has been taken out by another rider and he won't be starting the next day, which is the result? You know that

I think the relegation is harsh and most of all unnecessary. It could have something to do with Di Date, like when Braisford and co. went to talk to the UCI after Mont Ventoux. You can never rule such things out, especially in cycling......

They hated Merckx in "their" Tour, and now they hate Sagan.

Shows what class Sagan really is Cool

They wasn't too fond of a certain Chicken either.. Sad Tour de France > any rider, thats probably the message.

A cycling race is so complex that it's impossible to have perfectly black and white rules. Most decisions will be open to interpretation and two similar looking incidents can be given different punishments.

Like the Froome running incident. Running is against the rules but their where extenuating circumstances in that the crowd caused the crash, his bike was damaged and the crown stopped his team car getting to him. It all needs to be considered before a decision is made.

Obviously this leads to accusations of unfairness, but that is unavoidable.

Ok, so Sagan got thrown out of the race for the elbow hit that never happened, that is sad and funny at same time. I am done with Le Tour 2017, pinnacle of disgrace.

Well the Tour had to do something to match the shambles that was Ventoux in 2016
