The journey is over. I want to thank everyone who voted and helped in deciding this year's PCM.Daily Favourite Cyclist. This doesn't exist without your input. Before announcing the winner, a few notes I'd like to share:
- There were three ties. One short of what we had last year.
- 6 Primoz Roglic received the most votes during a single match-up with 27 in his first round win over 11 Geraint Thomas.
- The biggest surprise had to be either the Frenchmen or the Belgians. 10 Pierre Latour, 12 Julian Alaphilippe and 13 Romain Bardet all reached the Round of 16. While 3 Belgians made the quarterfinals: 1 Greg Van Avermaet, 1 Philippe Gilbert and 3 Tim Wellens. Some could even argue Alberto Contador reaching the finals was a shock.
- 30 votes were cast in the Finals to crown another champion.
1 Peter Sagan Vs. 2 Alberto Contador
Your 2017 PCM.Daily Favourite Cyclist is...
Spoiler
* PETER SAGAN *
He defeats Alberto Contador: 17-13.
It had to happen eventually. We have ourselves the first cyclist to ever win the contest twice and Sagan does it in style by going back-to-back.
The World Champion didn't get the top overall No. 1 seed, as he finished second in the Vote-In Round, but Sagan didn't let that faze him.
He maneuvered his way through an upset friendly Region 4
and took care of the higher seeds when he had to.
The closest anyone got to knocking him off was four votes:
Tim Wellens in the Quarterfinals and here in the Finals.
What a run, what a sprint. History made.
For the second time in two years, Congratulations to The Terminator!
The Votes (In The Order I Received Them):

Great 2nd place for Bertie, very happy he made it on the podium at least once on daily despite the huge amount of people here who dislike him. This was probably his only chance but Sagan is just that bit too popular for him.
Thanks for the contest Mre, always a pleasure!

One of the most polarising riders in the peloton for sure, it appears that everyone either loves him or hates him, which is weird
Thanks for organising!

So is Contador the winner now that Sagan has been disqualified.

That should make it Gilbert (or Jungels) vs Contador now. Not sure which of those 2.
