Most funny thing is I picked them both...think I can safely say at this early stage that I will not be defending my title 
I also picked another crashee in Groenewegen so my luck of last year has well and truly dried up.
Ironic that both Valverde and Izagirre are generally decent in the wet...

That's a run of 22 consecutive GT finishes between Izagirre and Valverde put to an end (almost exclusively in the top 10 for Valverde). So much for playing percentages and going for the bankers. Wonder if I even have the power to curse Sagan...

Picked them both too.
I had spent quite a lot of time trying to pick a good team and now everything is pretty ruined I guess.
Good thing is now I can watch the race and cheer for the riders that I really like, instead of cheering for the ones who are in my Velogames team.

Think they were solid picks with form, the route/skill sets and consistent finishers too...until now.
Can't complain, my luck has been beyond good for a long time now. Hopefully they aren't too badly injured, though Valverde's sounds like a bad one.
You're right, it'll be nice to completely disregard Velogames in my support this year, though I would've enjoyed cheering for Izagirre at least, irrespective of anything else.

Well I reshuffled so I could swap out Thomas for Valverde

And still almost all of you will have better results than me. Even with Valverde/Izagirre crash . I know I picked strange team, but 4k points from last year isn't that hard to beat with Kittel/Froome/Sagan trio. |

Yep late night swaparound could've really hurt me - also see thinking I clicked Majka as part of my Bardet/Valverde and Thomas/Majka swap but really taking Chaves, who whilst my favourite rider is probably not doing as well Also see thinking trading out Bardet was useful Went from thinking my Valverde & Majka version team could win some leagues to being a pretty average team

My last minute change to get Kung in the team paid off - its a pity I had Piti though.
Hope Valverde can recover and ride again and Izagirre isn't out for too long.

Valverde here as well. At least the woman are doing ok, I think I'm scoring more points with 2 women races than the rest of my season combined.

I decided to pick no Valverde, Quintana, Froome, Contador, Bardet.
Instead my leader was Ion Izagirre...who is unfortunately out as well...might become a horrible TdF for me now. |

In the top 20 after two stages. Martin failed to pick up the yellow jersey on stage one but hopefully Kittel will have it after tomorrows stage.
The main point from the first two stages is that I still have all 9 riders, although Bardet took a tumble yesterday.
It could be a case of the team with the most riders left at the end wins

Two years since Martin won a WT TT now (TdF 2015), granted the Worlds wasn't an insignificant recent win
Very hard to keep sustaining that top level, though the 4-5 years he managed were very impressive.
If you can get out of the first week with all 9 riders still there it's all good The 75% strategy needs that 25% luck - gl!
