@jseadog1: What's a story without some inception?
@sutty68: I'll take that as a compliment.
@Tamijo:
@Ian Butler: Moral of the entry: Trust no one.
@Raziz: I'm putting my creative energy to the test in trying to find new and exciting ways to tell a story. Hopefully there will be a lot more "diversely unique" updates before it's all said and done.

Entry #12 | May 19, 2016: Meeting with Cyclist Robert Gesink
Note: Team leaders at LottoNL-Jumbo get called into a meeting.
Robert Gesink: Anyone know what this meeting is about?
Sep Vanmarck: No idea.
Wilco Kelderman: Something about incoming transfers for next year, I believe.
Steven Kruijswijk: Wake me up when it's over.
Richard Plugge: Gents, have a seat. Let's get down to business. As you all know the Rabobank development team is folding and I like to get your thoughts on possible cyclists we could bring up to the Pro Tour for next season.
Early numbers indicate we should have a spot or two to bring a couple in, or we could just drop everyone and search through the free agency pool.
Vanmarck: You can open another spot as well. I don't think I'm coming back.
Plugge: Well, then. I didn't see that coming. I'll need your final decision in two weeks Sep. But, there is no point in you staying for the rest of this meeting then.
(...)
Alright, that was awkward. Back to the topic at hand... Kru wake up.
Kruijswijk: Sorry.
Plugge: Ok, I've pulled the files of three cyclists. I'm here to listen to your input, which will help me in making my final decisions. As you can image, I've already talked to their manager Arthur and he highly recommended all three.
Let's start with sprinter Stan Godrie. I've been told he already has a verbal agreement with Vérandas Willems-Crelan, but would back out to join us.
Kruijswijk: Honest opinion? I pass. He'd be better off in the PCT.
Gesink: Groenewegen would sprint circles around him. A no from me.
Kelderman: Agreed, I have to say no as well.
Plugge: Alright then. Harsh crowd. How about Jeroen Meijers? Another sprinter who is currently in talks with PCT Roompot - Nederlandse Loterij.
Kruijswijk: Better. But, this is the best they got down there?
Kelderman: I saw film of him actually, I like his agression but his speed just isn't there for the big leagues. Sorry, another no.
Gesink: Yeah, no wonder the program is ending.
Plugge: Alright then. Well, I got one more but I think I already know where this is going. Here is Alex Vogel. For those that don't know, [THE REST OF THIS SENTENCE HAS BEEN OMITTED DUE TO CLASSIFIED INFORMATION.]
Kelderman: Is that even legal? Wow. It would be interesting, that's for sure. I want to say yes, but the results just don't warrant it. Props to Alex though.
Gesink: Not to mention the media circus that it would bring. No thanks.
Kruijswijk: Ha, no.
Plugge: It's been Arthur's little experiment and he demanded that Alex's secret remains inside the organization. For Alex's safety, I'm going to ask you guys to sign this agreement form stating that you'll keep your mouth shut about it.
Basically, if the secret leaks then Alex gets some compensation for any future income loss because of it. A judge would figure that out, and it probably won't be cheap. I repeat, this stays in the organization.
If Alex does happen to sign elsewhere, which is doubtful, this conversation never happened. I don't want lawyers and investigators breathing down our necks.
Kruijswijk: Well, thanks Rich for dragging us into this clusterf***.

Is Alex Royalty? I know the King of the Netherlands is an airline co-pilot for KLM so maybe the whole Dutch Royal family has undercover professions.
That would explain why he wants his friend to be the one in the spotlight, as he doesn't want to be recognised and maybe doesn't think he will be with his helmet and sunglasses on but will be in interviews and on the podium.

My guess is that you are on the right track, if not Royalty then otherwise related to someone important. Does Lance have kid's ?

AMAZING! What an entry. You are upgrading your level every time. Wonder which is the confidential thing about Alex, altough sammy's theory might be a good one.
The only thing is that Kruijswijk was suppoused to be in the Giro in that date

Another great entry, harsh words from the old pros. As for the big secret, I feel I have a pretty good idea that would explain what we've learned so far.
Spoiler I generally hate spoilers, so even hidden like this I'm not going to say what I think, sorry. I'm not suggesting I'm super confident with my guess, but I don't want to risk even the off chance I'm right. |

@sutty68: Glad people enjoyed the meeting concept. It was one of those ideas I threw together last minute and it seemed to work.
@Ian Butler: And the conspiracy theories begin to swirl...
@sammyt93: ... and swirl...
@Ian Butler (again): ... and swirl...
@Tamijo: ... and people are beginning to rally around certain theories.
@Aquarius97: Thanks. And if that's the only thing that doesn't fit with the "realistic" timeline, I'm ok with that. It's a fictional story nonetheless.
@Ripley: The PT guys certainly didn't hold back. And taking the keep quiet approach I see. Alex approves.

Entry #13 | May 21, 2016: Phone Call with PT Manager Richard Plugge
Note: Plugge informs Arthur van Dongen about Pro Tour signings.
It's a no.
What's a no? To all of them? You can't be serious Rich.
Look. My staff and I looked over the vast amount of paperwork you sent in and we even reviewed the film that we told you was optional to send in. We just didn't see anybody ready for the Pro Tour. I'm sorry.
So you are saying you saw no potential in any of the five cyclists I recommended?
To put it bluntly, that would be correct.
Rich, why are you doing this? You gave these guys hope and now are just going to rip it away. Man, I just don't get it. You said you'd have a couple roster spots open for next season. What happened?
Business. If they aren't ready, they aren't ready. Why save them a roster spot when we can get a Pro Tour experienced cyclist in free agency? You'll understand next season when you're my right hand man.
With all due respect, if none of my cyclists are getting called up, then I'm not accepting the coaching role at LottoNL-Jumbo.
Woah, don't be so hasty Arthur. We really want you to join our team.
It's a business. These are my cyclists and I'm going to fight for them. I'm done here if at least two of my cyclists aren't joining me.
Ok. Who do you want then?
Simple. Alex Vogel and Jeroen Meijers.
I might be able to swing Meijers. Alex is a definitely not happening.
I'm out of here then. I told you from Day 1 when you offered me the job that I would only take it if Alex was on the team next season. I stand by that.
Don't be delusional. You and I both know how much of a risk that would be. And it's not like Alex has dominated the lower circuit either.
You might not see it. But, Alex has something special. I'm not going to throw away all the progress we have made to jump ship and collect a paycheck.
That's not who I am.
Everybody can be replaced Arthur. You are no different.

Bit of a heated conversation there, but understandable in Arthurs defence |

Tension is mounting extremely fast, almost got this “crime” feel, it’s like a murder might just happen around the next corner. I try to focus….not to forget that secret

I think i know which is Alex's secret. There was something that went unadvertent for me at the moment, but now it might be a big hint. Although that would mean that the secret is not really safe. Also i could be just paranoic

It's not doping, on one hand too obvious, on the other it doesn't fit the clues. Doesn't anybody read murder mysteries? |
