@Tamijo: Well, considering Alex has clearly been racing in entry #2 it's safe to assume there weren't any problems. But, this also serves as a reminder to everyone to check dates. So far we have been going back into time.
For the next few episodes we will start to progress forward through the highlights of the first season with the Rabobank Development team.
@Ian Butler: I gave fair warning that some things wouldn't make sense right away. Yet, if you're part of the inner circle that has figured out Alex's secret, that interaction with the doctor makes perfect sense.
@Selwink: Depends on your vantage point.

I think, in order to make sense of the story, I'll have to not-try-make-sense it for a while and then read it all at once when more episodes are out to try and stitch them together. |

@Ian Butler: That's highly recommended. Part of my job in writing the story is keeping Alex's secret a secret for as long as possible. As soon as people start to catch on, the story will adapt accordingly.

Entry #4 | February 20, 2016: Snapshots with Teammate Jeroen Meijers
Note: First professional race. The REV Classic - 138 kms, flat.
There is nothing like rolling off the start line to start the first race of the season. Especially for someone like Alex in their first professional race. Exciting times.
Before the flag waved to signal the start of the race, I told the rookie to take it all in. This moment only happens once. Alex just laughed and said, "I know."
That was the last time we talked until after the race. Being the team's lead sprinter, I had other things to worry about than my fellow Dutchman teammate surviving race No. 1. At least that's what I thought at the start of the race.
With 8kms to go, Arthur decided to throw the kid a bone.
A three man breakaway of Thijs Van Beusichem, Michael Kukric and Rob Britton was three minutes up the road and the peloton had started to give up on the chase.
So, Arthur allowed Alex to go on a suicide mission off the front. Something to just catch the attention of the rest of the peloton.
The peloton shrugged and gave our attack some leeway, while myself and the rest of the sprinters began making our way to the front for a fast finish.
Alex could have looked back and saw the peloton preparing to strike, but instead kept pushing forward. Even passing breakaway rider Kukric, who had dropped off the pace and looked like he was going to fall off his bike.
The courageous effort might have appeared dumb to those on the side of the road since the peloton flew by Alex with 1,200 meters left to the finish line. But, executing team orders to perfection and doing so without complaints is something to be praised in my book.
Plus, what's wrong with getting people to look your way in your first race?
The breakaway won the day. The Canadian Rob Britton stole the home victory away from Netherlands native Van Beusichem.
I slotted in 15th place, 38 seconds later. Alex hung on for 20th.

@Tamijo: Yeah, not bad at all. 20th place is a bit misleading since there were only 80 or so riders in the field. But, the point was Alex got to attack at least. It's a good place to start from.

@jseadog1: There are times when I want to do a Season 3 of Survivor,
but then I remember how time consuming it is and how difficult it is to come up with competitive challenges that actually work on the forum. So, I stick to story writing instead.
@sutty68: Teammate Jeroen Meijers finished 15th. Alex took 20th. The report was written from the vantage point of Meijers.

Entry #5 | March 2, 2016: Snapshots with Competition Thijs Van Beusichem
Note: Trofej Umag circuit in Croatia - 157.5kms, flat.
It's crazy how quick things can change in the world of cycling. One day you're gasping for air and watching some guy you worked with all day steal your victory.
Two weeks later you're in a new country fetching water bottles for your mates.
Every day is a new adventure. And at least today provided some entertainment for what was going to be a long day of hauling bottles.
While dropping back to get my first batch of the day, I noticed this Rabobank rider struggling to keep his balance while receiving bottles from the team car.
For some reason, he just couldn't figure out how to position the bottles on his body. At one point he even dropped a bottle and our team car ran over it.
This newbie had a lot to learn if he wanted to make it in this sport. Not to mention that their trainer should be ashamed. Three months into the season and they have a guy on the road who can't transport water properly. That's pathetic.
Some random Norwegian, Hagen Carl Fredrik, won the race from a late attack.
Meanwhile, I rode around in the peloton all day. I even tried to start up a conversation with that Rabobank rider later in the day with the intent of giving him some tips on carrying bottles. But, the lad didn't want to talk.
I don't know if he was embarrassed or what. Regardless, I let him be and then beat him to the line for a prestigious 124th place.

@Aquarius97: The vantage point will jump around from each update to update. The plan is hopefully I'll never have to use the same person more than once. It will be a challenge, but I'm looking forward to it.
Also, I'm trying to mention who is going to have the next vantage point in the update before they give it. If you haven't noticed already.
