Giro d'Italia 2017 - Week 3
Gustavovskiy
Seriously close from Quintana, chapeau to him too!

Tom Dumpoulin wins the Giro!

The Netherlands sink.

Van Emden forgets how to place cap back on his head.

Could this be the tightest and perhaps most dramatic GT of all time.
I can't really remember any since the 80s, but then my old memory is slipping fast.
4th place jumping up to the win on the very last stage. Hard to see that happened before.

So glad for Tom D, since he lost the Vuelta last year.....

Shit mountain stages, only reason TomTom wins, Almost all mountains at 6,5 -7% which is great for a big fuck like TomTom, easy to pace on.

No room for climbers to do their thing.

And then he attacked them on the steepest part with over 12%.

Climbers had enough stages to make a difference. One day they decided to play weird tactical games. lasr weeks they did not had legs left

It must be a classic. The Pink man taking a dump, losing the jersey, then regaining it from 4th place on the final day.
!!!!!!!!!!! DRAMA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plenty of stages, but Quintana was under par. Nibali was about as good as you could expect, but Tom was incredible always minimising the damage and even winning on Oropa. That said, many stages could obviously have designed to give a better show, especially that Dolomite stage where they did a pretty pointless loop to Pontives.

Chapeau Tom, the most interesting is now whether Prudhomme sees Dumoulin as Froome's biggest competitor and design a TT-heavy course.

Looks like Quintana thought he would just need to turn up to win like Bertie in 2015 underestimated his rivals

Take an honest look at the mountain in this years Giro, 6,5-7% and ALL of the them for some reason go flat the last 4-5 km to the top. so a clear + for a roleur like Tom

But the thing with Froome is, that he actually is a pretty good TTer himself, so it wouldn't be that easy for Tom.

Yes but then the others was minutes away. We do have 4 guys within striking distance on this one. It's not only the winning margin 1-2 but all the top riders and the swing from 4th to 1st that is truly something I can't remember.

A deserved victory for Dumoulin for Holland and for going when you've gotta go. Bravo Tom.

Blockhaus, Stelvio were defo not "easy" climbs.

Then almost every climb had up to 12-15% steepness.

How do you expect the to make a difference on these gradients? The mountains they rode is suited for roleurs. If you are going to have 70 timetrial KM, then climbers need better terrain then what they have been given this Giro

That's total nonsense. Climbs are for rouleurs, when they are peaking at 5-6%, but most climbs peaked at 12-15%.
