Gaviria said somewhere that he wants to finish his first GT, so I think he will. You never with those sprinters though
That's why I put him on my team. We'll see how it plays out. I assumed he was being honest since he's not riding the Tour this year (last I read) so he has no reason to rest up for anything in his immediate future. |

Whenever Gaviria steps off (if at all) he will score points on several sprints until the last week I think. That's "money" in the bank.

And another great Pötzlberger day
What a 4-pts pick he was. Given me victory in our league in stage 1 and 6.
Now everything can only go down, so I better enjoy it while it last.

I'm going along quite nicely so far. 14th in our league.
I keep seeing Amador in the top 10 and thinking "he'll be scoring me some points" and then realised last night that I've got Anacona, not Amador

Expect no league points in this Giro seeing how the opening has gone. Modolo seems to be a miss, and Dennis' DNF doesn't help my chances. Also regret picking Dumoulin instead of Thomas, as I had hoped Dumoulin would be just as alert as Thomas on flat stages, picking top 15s for fun.
Luckily it's a long way to go, but no Quintana doesn't make me very hopeful for the mountains yet to come
Still very fun to be part of, eventhough this is the most frustrating part of GTs, Velogames wise. Definitely the moment where I'm cursing all the decisions I've made that have turned, or look likely to turn, out to be bad decisions |

Surprised by Modolo not performing thus far - he has been climbing better than ever and sprinting well this spring. The form looked there and I would've had him in as a second sprinter if I could have accomodated him. Wonder if he has been sick or crashed or some such?

As you Ian, I am stunned too. Expected a lot more points from Modolo, but perhaps we should have picked the really big sprinter surprise so far.
Ryan Gibbons !!! OK not in the top 3-5, but very surprising having several top-10 already.
I assume Gibbons did the lead-out for Sbaragli, but perhaps it should have been the other way around.
Kind of funny that Dimension Data have had 2 sprinters in the top 10 on more than one stage so far. (and that's without Cav)

Wow, short notice for that race. I was thinking velogames wasn't going to have one this year. |

Last year California was my best Velo ever. Now second best by position, but I didn't pick Sagan and used 98 points. This year... I have no idea who should I choose. |

Just picked a very quick team with not much thought given. Hopefully most people won't realise the game is open so I'll be guaranteed so points just by entering a team

I replaced Greipel with Nizzolo in Giro. Big mistake.
I also joined California
Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

In the Giro my team is also suffering from Dennis and Modolo syndrome
Entered a Sagan-less team for California, we will see how that pans out.
Only 17 teams in the California Daily League so far.

That was a late addition, but better "throw" a US-bound team together.
Not much tactic and thought, but that might even turn out for the best. Over-thinking sometimes screw things up.
Best of luck mates....

After first mt stage with proper racing - I'll give my first impressions of my team.
Quintana - Looks like the man to beat, good pick
Landa - Crashed, so no real test for him yet. But is in a horrible position anyway now
Nibali - not looking too good so far, will have to step up massively to even get on the podium
Gaviria - went for one sprinter and glad I did, been massive already, 100% the correct pick
Kangert - Looks real solid, if he can keep this up, he could end around top 6.
Capecchi, Hirt and Folifornov - yet to show something, although Cape has been nice for assists.
So decently satisfied with my picks overall, no-one has been a massive blow yet and all with possibillities to do great stuff this giro. How are you guys doing so far? And I dont just mean points-wise

So...
Dennis - Out
Yates - Fucked by bike
Thomas - Same
Foliforov - Maybe week 3?
Modolo - Not quite up there
Kruijswijk - Not quite up there
Formolo - Not Quite up there
Izagirre - Assist points and stage win, solid
Pinot - Will win Giro, so is all good.
But all in all, my Velogames is done.
