Anyone struggling with the Giro team as well? Nibali or Quintana... Or none of them... |

Yep!
Already on version 7 of my team, and the worst part is you can bet one of the rejected lineups will do great

The thing is, its such a huge gamble. What if your top rider falls out of the race or gets sick. It's so dependant on luck. Thats why I prefer the classics game. |

Well. I don't really have a problem this time to select a team. Might as always end crappy. And probably will. There are so many great 6 pointers, I can even choose some 4 scorers that can actually surprise. Only thinking about 12 pointers. Which 2 should I choose: Yates, Van Garderen or Zakarin? |

6 pointers? I dont see a lot that will do well. Always hard picks these unclassed riders, apparantly u see things i dont see haha. The choice is yours to make for the 12 pointers, all good picks tbh... |

Giro is so much harder than the Classics, with even strict selection of different kind of riders and NO subs.
I would hope they introduce a small kind of sub system as the Classics. Perhaps 2 subs if all goes to hell in the first week. Classics is more to make "smart" moves but this Giro is much more luck IMHO.
Well I had a shitty Romandie (just as the race itself I guess) so better man-up for this Pink Hell.
But who to pick is the million dollar question....
Good luck mates

I don't think subs are a good idea for any of the games outside of the spring classics, teams in GT's don't get to sub in riders if they aren't going well so I don't think us fantasy DS's should get to do the same

Let's see if I can continue my top 3 streak here. Will be hard. Might even let Nairo out. |

After changing my team 55 times I think I have finally made my team. One thing I can say about it: no Nairo, no Nibali. |

Well Firstcycling.com have a system with some subs on the rest-days and having 1 sub on each would be cool if you cyclist crashed out before that time. Just like the Classics the subs could be very important and thrilling. If you are out with some vital cyclists you got a shot picking in a sub.
I know real teams doesn't have this of course, but then this is fantasy, and we can't direct any of the riders. This will be a way of adding a little strategy during the race.
This year Giro have a lot of high mountains in the later stages and more sprints in the first. That would be a strategy to replace a sprinter for who-ever is left of the hill-guys that has been showing some form up to that point.
As it id today you make your picks and that's it.
Guess I found out (my first Classics)that's the reason the Classics is so much more challenging.
Then again just watch Timo, he has changed his team 55 times already. Puuh

I've done something similar last year. Not picked top 3 riders, and it ended in the middle of the table. Yet, I think my team looks really decent. There is no mystery. Everyone can check team after race starts so:
Spoiler I decided to go for GC and that team wasn't changed much since joining. To be fair Nibali, Pinot, Kruijswijk, Yates are all capable of finishing inside top 5. Formolo can be even in top 10. Monfort is like Zubeldia. You can no see him for 3 weeks yet he can finish between 11-15. Cataldo might be as Scarponi tribute. I think Astana will do everything to make this Giro great for them. If not GC then some stages. Hirt. Guy has so much potential. I know GT is GT but still. That guy as 4 points? He could be a "bingo" like Cort Nielsen in last year Vuelta (also was 4 pointer). Sbaragli... I know he can finish sprint stages inside top 10. Nothing more to say . My 25th Velogame.

As much as I love Spring Classics it's actually a relief to just pick a team for the GT's and other competitions and let them ride. That means there is more luck involved but less graft and after all the effort and scrutinising of Spring Classics I'm grateful for the lower labour!
