As we reach exactly the half-way point of the World Tour season, I'd first like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who've been playing along and have made this game much more successful this time around. We've had a total of 13 participants so far, which in no way is an unlucky number. A special shout-out to Raziz, Selwink, Purepasd, Marco and Croatia for not missing a single race from the start. Even me and Jandal, as hosts, have missed a race each!
Coming to the game itself, it started off well for both hosts, but while Jandal has pushed on to be in a podium position at the half-way mark, Abhishek has fallen down the ladder, fighting for mid-table spots. Defending champion Marco had a bad start but is scoring more points on an average in the last handful of races. Despite starting out late, Aquarius has ridden on two perfect scores to now challenge members who have participated since the start, an excellent per race point tally for him. Raziz and Selwink ride on perfect scores in Liege-Bastogne-Liege to lead the table and hold a comfortable gap for now. From being a leader at one point, Emre has fallen down the leader-board after recent races, and needs to get back his early season form to challenge at the top again. Purepasd has been towards to the top end throughout and is currently challenging for third place. With his legendary eccentric picks, Croatia has been a delight to report on, but his points-scoring has suffered for the same. Luxemburger started off strong, but then stopped sending in entries after the first couple of months. Trekbmc and Squire have also stopped participating after initially showing interest. The latest member to make an entry was Ian who has participated in two races so far.
With the business end of the season starting now, expect high-scoring races coming up. All three GTs will be contested in the second half of the season, with a massive 600 points available from each race. Expect a lot of reshuffling in the leader-board. Can defending champion Marco make a stirring comeback? Or will Jandal go one better than last year and take the title? Perhaps we will see a new name at the top of the standings. It will all play out over the next five and a half months.
I hope we can keep this game going and everyone will keep participating with the same amount of energy as has been the case so far. Stay tuned for the launch of the Giro game and the Set 3 of the Year Long Predictions.
