The 2021 TDF winner will be Grobosholooo Smirkavadlichhs, the first Martian competing in the event. He'll also break the Hour record by completing 1,3 lightyear in it, riding through a wormhole.

But sadly he'll have his wins erased when he fails to give a legitimate blood sample and second place Laporte will be given the honour.

The first bid has been made.

Also 1:50 minutes on Gaudu in just 18km.

Good for him, the way he is climbing he'll need some extravagant Wiggins rememberance Tour to win 2021 tho. Pfft

Gaudu meanwhile with some of the best on stage 4. Havn't seen the race but boy, he is making an impact in every WT race he enters Cool <3

Catalunya stages 6 and 7 and Romandie stage 1 were good climbing efforts.

I would call Abu Dhabi and the rest of Catalunya gathering experience and looking after the captains, plus he only started his season there.
He was comfortably in the peloton in the second Romandie mountain stage as well before he was forced to drop back and pace Kelderman back into the bunch after the crash, at which point his race was done and he did the right thing to relax and focus on the TT.

An additional advantage in my opinion is the presence of Dumoulin on his team, who surely can give him some advice on how to start out as a TTer and continually improve your climbing while retaining the abilities on the flat.
He certainly wants to attempt that approach as well judging by his interviews.

Well, at least that gives me an ACTUAL reason to cheer against him, not just the generic "he might do better than my guy".

Yeah.... not exactly what I had hoped for I must admit.

Agree with you on that. As much as I like everything that brings Oomen closer to the 2021 TdF win (Pfft), it's a shame that another talent may well be wasted here.

I don't think he will be wasted, I would just have liked to see him at Movistar much more or even Astana....

Is Tao Geoghan Hart future GT contender? Could be fun to follow them if they stay for some time. Maybe some good old Froome Wiggins gossip to come out of this. Smile

Throw the Yates brothers into that (who doubts that they will end in SKY sooner or later) and we have a whole basket of drama. Grin
I'll be back

Who can be expected to ride Vuelta of the high potentials?

De Plus made his Grand Tour debut earlier in the year and finished on a strong 24th. It is not exactly the slaying that Kirchen has promised us lol, but surely a strong case for the young belgian. But now it is of course highly unlikey that he rides Vuelta. Maybe Enric Mas has the honours and ride for some stage wins. Also Sam Oomen is going to attend, according to ruben in the other thread most likely in support of Jesleyh Kelderman. Can someone of the high potentials break into Top 20 and create some sweet twentyseventeen hype for 2021?

Meanwhile Gaudu is scheduled for some small stage races in France, Bernal probably doing the same in Italy. Kämna currently in Pologne racing but with no results to show for, me saying without watching the race. Adrian Costa is unfortunately taking a break as we know, most likely due to the unfortunate death of his friend and teammate Chad Young. Hopefully we'll see him next season all the more motivated then.

Read an article about a month ago quoting Kämna's coach that Sunweb consider taking him to the Vuelta as part of his development and for the opening TTT.

(https://www.weser-kurier.de/sport_arti...18535.html)

Would definitely not be for any kind of GC result, but he's currently doing a decent job in Pologne in the sprint preparation and keeps Kelderman/Oomen at the front in the tougher stages until the penultimate climb (which will be the GC pairing for the Vuelta as well).
I'd say he would be Top 40-ish without domestique duties, and Top 15 yesterday without the sprint crash. Keep in mind that the hills this week are very steep, and he's far more of a Dumoulin than a Gaudu.
The TT on stage 16 could be a personal goal if his recovery allows him to contest.

This could turn into a solid race then to keep an eye on our high potentials. Fingers crossed that they select him. I like the idea of him targeting stage 16, but I think it may be too far into the Vuelta for him to have much of a shot for an expectional result, considering recovery and all, even if he soft pedals the days before. Then again, it is the Vuelta and it has its own rules. Anyway, right now the experience counts most. Just hoping that a hard-raced Grand Tour won't be too tough on a 20 year old.

Personally, I'm not entirely sure if it's an appropriate schedule for him already, but the next paragraph stated they would monitor him closely there and take him out if the race became too tough on him.

I just hope he gets to do some more TTs this year, he'll probably have to use the new WT rule for the U23 TT at the Worlds considering Martin, Sütterlin and Politt should be the lineup for the pros.
So alternatively, I'd also consider Britain and Poitou-Charentes a good fit if Sunweb goes there, with Cyclassics and maybe Bretagne to supplement.

As for the initial question, Mas and Oomen seem to have Top 15 potential already, depending on their role with Jungels and Kelderman probably having big ambitions.
