Seems like I should just stick to watching random sports as a neutral viewer..
Without any NASCAR experience outside of Daytona and Indy, I first cheered for Dale -> he crashed.
Then I switched to Danica because women power -> she crashed.
In the end, I was backing Elliott because youngster upset or Truex because he missed out last year, and both ran out of fuel being in the lead... lesson learned, I'm apparently good at jinxing.
Oh well, it certainly was a fun race.
(I still think steering and braking should be part of a race driver's skillset though )

I also think that other tracks won't have this exciting racing because the races are usually more spread out.
Oh well, nothing you can do

Jimmie Johnson takes his first win of the season!! Racing fans were beginning to think he was becoming a washed up has been after his horrible start.
Also, how about Kyle Larson this year. Through the first 7 races I am fairly sure he has gotten like 1st or 2nd in every one

My boy Kyle is crushing it, although 12th at Daytona and 17th at Martinsville Last year Dayton and Martinsville were his best races of the first 12 so idk
I was exicted by Ganassi pre-season and whilst i wouldn't have picked Kyle for the title then, i'm getting very hyped now. He can easily go the whole way especially as he likes Homestead.
Can't believe peopl doubted JJ, of course he was going to win. But Hendrik and Gibbs teams have both had poor starts as teams by their standards. Was always going to turn around. Harvik will win in the next two or three as will Kyle Bush, and we'll be back to normal.

Johnson has historically had bad starts anyway. I am sure that one more championship surely solidifies him as the best of all time. He has won under so many different point formats and constantly wins races at a pace almost unseen before.

Really? He won twice by this point last year, twice in 2015, twice in 2013, 3 times in 2010, once in 2009, 3 times in 2007, twice in 2006, once in 2004, once in 2005. Only going winless at this stage in 5 times in his 16 Cup Series years.
So yeah, historically bad. F*ck me if he has a good start to season, right

Hey man, I was just taking what Mike Joy said on commentary
I didn't bother to investigate, but I think they meant points position wise. He is 11th now, but wasn't even in the Top 20 before this week.

At least he'll get a ood Honda engine once this year
But he's gonna be so surprised by the level of IndyCar and the uniqueness of the 500. And i'm sure it'll be fun to jump over from Barcelona on Sunday to the Rookie Test on Monday (i believe the rookie test is Monday 15th, maybe slightly ofF).
Good publicity though, and great to see an F1 driver doing something other than F1 during F1

Alonso has been saying for a while that he wants to win the Triple Crown (Monaco GP, 24 Le Mans, Indy500)
First practice starts on Monday 15, so Alonso will fly directly after Spanish GP to Indianapolis

Will be interesting to see his early test speeds and figure out how good he'll be. Certainly there's talent, just whether he can get upto speed in time and handle the unique tactics of the 500. Andretti is a good team that tends to be strong on Ovals, so he has every chance of doing something very special.
It's no "Double Duty" though. Would rather see someone else do the 500-600 like Kurt Bush in 2014

Last year, Alexander Rossi won the Indy500 with the Andretti team in his first time in Indy. I guess we can dream about an Alonso win
Anyway, this race is likely going to be Alonso's best result in 2017

although I'm not sure of his schedule during that time, Bell raced hell damn impressive last year
although Bell has much more oval experience that I ignored before, damnit. point makes no sense anymore.
hoping Alonso can do good though, although I doubt it. one-offs ussualy underpreform although

He's not racing GT's that weekend so he could make an appearence, but it wouldn't be Andretti again given Alonso and Jack Harvey already confirmed as one-off entries alongside the normal 4-car set.
Most teams already seem set in their line-ups so it'll either have to be Juncos or a new independent team. Don't know who'd back him individually and Juncos is expected to pick a young driver.

In other news, on Saturday, Porsche achieved the first 2 wins of the season in the SRC league. Was a really close weekend as both, Audi and Lamborghini seem to be on par. I think an interesting season awaits us. The next race in 1.5 weeks is Nürburgring GP.

Tragic news hit the motorsport today - Nicky Hayden, The Kentucky Kid, passed away today following and bike accident similar to that of Scarponi. Rest in peace

Yes, he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle and died from brain damage. His condition didn't allow him to be opperated.
