Young Vietnamese sprinter who's pretty good over hilly terrain. Achieved some decent results in Asia during current and past season.

What do you guys think of Yevgeniy Gidich? Seems a promising young Kazakh but I can't put my finger on his specialty. Seems a good sprinter and a pretty decent puncheur, but almost won on the Cameron Highlands stage of Langkawi too? Any thoughts?

Gidich seems really good tbf. You're right. Maybe we can rule out Cobbles beast but he seems good at everything else.
Also, Thanh Huynh is already in the db as ID 1003 (he just doesn't have an "h" on the end of his first name. The birthdate is the exact same.
At first I thought your suggestion was crazy, and then I realised the tables didn't line up properly. Embarassed Looked like 56 sprint for me. He definitely seems like a hilly/sprint rider as opposed to a TT rider which is what he currently is in the db.

I honestly have no idea how to represent Gidich accurately statwise, maybe best left to someone else or even give him a miss until more about him is known.

Ah ok I see. Yeah it's been a little while since I've done up a table

Release Durbridge and hope for an Aussie who can actually ride cobbles?

May suggest a few riders soonish. Any deadline for this?

Figure I may as well post some big talent suggestions, after Bjartne posted more insane stats to make these look reasonable Pfft

Also mixed in some less talented riders with higher starting levels, no real pattern to how I spotted potential additions Wink

I'm well aware of that problem, and it presents a huge challenge when adding stage racers. I tried to take an approach of making the riders have strong enough TT stats that it would make more sense to train them with Stage Race, but the issue remains. Can be sorted out before addition though, very much an idealised approach here Pfft

Nice suggestions JPH. I would personally love to see Pedersen, Toft Madsen and Geoghan Hart in MG. Very promising riders!

One way to deal with this (adding in top talents, but balancing how they might be developed to avoid over-powered monsters), would be to use a low 'potential', hence starting stats are already a bit higher, and therefore pre-defined? Just a thought.

As an aside while I'm here, it's a real shame (to me), that Pierre La Tour has dropped using his full name. When he was racing as a junior, I always found his name amusing in terms of combining a quintesentially French and British name 'Pierre Roger La Tour'. Shame he couldn't be added to the db in that naming format Wink.

Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Pierre Latour is the real name. The Roger thing was a mistake by someone in a race in Juniors, and that sticked with the time

Roger has a slightly different slang meaning in English Wink

While it might be time to add some good potential young riders again, I hope we cap them at max 81 without training (I would prefer 80/79). So that they wont be super riders in just 3-4 years

I ken it is a French name in origin, but (maybe just in my mind diluted by old UK comedy programmes), is the sort of name given to posh English kids, with a bit of nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more type humour associated. It was also about the only French riders name I could immediatley pick out on race radio given it was so distinctive (and came up so often).

In a totally different anecdote, a 'fight' between two chaps (one called Roger (hence the relevance) the other Quentin in Bristol 3 or 4 years ago was also perhaps the funniest I've ever listened to (overheard when woken up in middle of the night by these two idiots outside my flat). Really more of an argument than a fight, but the banter was hilarious (in a terrible way). Two pissed up guys in there mid-20's but calling each other names, pushing and shoving like 5 year olds without anything ever really happening. If it was a rugby match, the phrase 'handbags' would have applied excellently. What was most amusing was in all the name calling, not one swear word was used. Ended when one of them (don't know if it was Roger or Qunetin) burst out crying and threatened to tell the other guys Mum on him -I kid you not.

A few (first) suggestions from my side. I've listed their projected Max (in a certain role) and the "start-XPs/level" I would suggest.

As always, I don't stand 100% tall for the stats, even though I tried (as always) to not suggest over-powered talents/riders. A few changes could be still possible, I guess.

Ben O'Connor - 21 years old

1st GC New Zealand Cycle Classic ('16)
3rd GC Tour de Taiwan ('16)
8th GC Le Tour de Langkawi ('17)
stage New Zealand Cycle Classic ('16)
3rd GC Tour de Savoie Mont Blanc ('16)
16th GC Tour of Qinghai Lake ('15)

WT-rider for Dimension Data, known as a good climber talent. Did very well last year and proved to survive longer stage races as well. Probably doesn't need to be rated as very top talent in the MG, but I guess a solid climber for Aussie wouldn't be too bad in the future.

Chris Hamilton - 21 years old

14th GC Santos Tour Down Under ('16)
7th GC Tour de Taiwan ('16)
8th GC Herald Sun Tour ('16)

Another young WT-rider from Down Under, Hamilton probably should be seen as a better puncheur than climber. Finished 1st in Australia's NC U23 race in 2016. With him, I'm not sure whether to go for 77 maxed HI or 76.. those, who balance the DB, may know better!

Jesse Featonby - 29 years old

9th Oceania Continental Championships - Road Race ('17)
15th GC Herald Sun Tour ('17)
8th GC International Tour de Banyuwangi Ijen ('16)

Professional Triathlet, who is trying road racing for less than two years now. Took a hill/mountain-top finish in an Australian National Road Series race and had a few respectable results on tougher stages this year, too. Certainly not a huge talent/rider to add, but adding some depth may not be too shabby.

Miles Scotson - 23 years old

Reigning Australian road champion, who's proven as a solid TTler as well. Doesn't seem to conquer the WT level, but given his success in the NC, he may deserve an upgrade/change of stats in our DB. Maybe a solid TT-roleur type of guy.

As always I have a hard time getting the stats together, Pfft
Its mainly just suggestions such as rider to add but tried to make up some stats for you guys to change...Cool

I will suggest two riders one Norwegian and one Swedish, I got two interesting Swedish riders born 1996 so will wait for next year to suggest them Smile

Isac Lundgren was very hard to know his strengths, started this season quite good in sprint last year he managed to win KoM in Estonia, not the hardest climbs but anyway a rider who dont be afraid to attack.

Amund Grøndahl Jansen also a rider with strength in many terrains but much better then Lundgren. Rider in WT for Lotto now. He can ride on cobblestones, sprint and so on.
