I feel so bad for Naesen and Boonen tho, but still one of the best races I've seen! |

Definitely one of the best solo performances i've seen. On a level with Cance at Roubaix 2010.
Got lucky in the end though with the crash, it was really close.

The fight for 2nd yes...Gilbert had won anyway. Great ride by old Phil. Haven`t expected this by him at that time of his career.
I'm not sure, GVA probably lost maybe 15 seconds on the crash and still managed to get pretty close to Gilbert in the end. Yes, Gilbert slowed down during the last couple of hundred meters but so did the chasing group.
Imagine if Sagan and Naesen were there to work as well, I think Phil would have been caught.

We are talking about Cance at Roubaix, not Flanders. He won with over 2 minutes back then solo. Phil got lucky in the end and won with a few seconds. Of course still one of the greatest performances ever, to be clear.

Yes, but still doesn't change that Cance was out of this world in 2010.
Modolo and Colbrelli in Top 10, wow.

Obviously this is something that is very, very difficult to judge.
Some might say yes, some might say no.
In the end poor Gilbert will have to live with that discussion, which is a pity imo. |

Gilbert @ 8,00. I totally forgot I had thrown a fair amount of money his way, even better!
Too bad Sagan crashed and ruined the chase, I would have liked it to play out. I can't say Im sorry for Sagan (waaaay to nonchalant for me lately), but Naesen was incredible strong and GVA deserved at least the chance. Oh well.
9/10 race for sure. |

Sep crashing, Boonen mech and in particular Sagan/Naesen/GVA crash makes it a 9/10 for me |

Can we, after Paris-Roubaix, end the season and skip right to next year's vlaanderen campaign? |

Boonen favourite for PR now in my book. I don't think Sagan ever will win that race. |
