If Andy Schelck had fans, surely Cancellara deserves his as well.
Here from what I see it has a lot to do with the way the commentators present the riders. A lot of people only watch cycling on TV and won't follow other news by themselves and get fed with whatever the commentators say.
I remember when they were telling was how awesome Cancellara is and how strong and tall of a man he is and how Boonen is decent too but nothing compared to Cancellara. Then, for whatever reason they decided to check the facts and saw that Boonen is quite taller than Cancellara and still played it off like it was nothing and Cancellara still remains the god of cobbles and the most impressive built rider in the peloton.
Funny. I'm used to Belgian TV and I always got tired of Michel Wuyts going on about how awesome Boonen is, up to the point of me not wanting Boonen to win. (or worse: considering to watch the race on EuroCommercials).
That's why it's important for commentators to be objective. I'd take Renaat Schotte and José de Cauwer over Michel Wuyts any day.
Still,
4x Roubaix
3x Ronde
3x Wevelgem
5x E3
Numbers don't lie.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

I know, I know. I have nothing against Boonen. Definately one of the all time greats for me, but Michel Wuyts is just an annoying chauvinist who keeps portraying Belgian cyclists as halfgods or something. |

Great final with Sagan going on the Poggio and with the Alaphilippe/ Kwiatek duo following. This race also showed that an attack on Poggio can still succeed even without Le Manie. Sagan messed up the sprint though. He shouldn't have been on the front or he should have started his sprint later. And great win for Kwiatkowski. He didn't work too much but it is fine with me since he usually races aggressively and entertainingly. Would have preferred Sagan to win but that is cycling. Also a pretty decent result for Gaviria. Skys tactic of going for the sprint was weird though. Viviani was never gonna outsprint Kristoff, Gaviria, Demare and Degenkolb after 290 km. |

After listening to the recon ride on one occasion,I think the Paris-Nice and T-A edition, I can't listen to this guy anymore. The amount of bullshit he managed to say in 10 minutes time was scary.. |

Weird explanation. By this standard, we wouldn't be allowed to read your good posts once in a while for the occassional bs you write

By the way Quick Step for Flanders:
Boonen, Gilbert, Stybar, Terpstra, Trentin, Gaviria, Lampeart, Keisse. Imagine Alaphilippe in there instead of Keisse. They mean serious business, actually didn't think Gaviria would be selected for Flanders |
