Ewan is some fine form as usual. Has 2agan shaven his legs already?

Thanks. So they will probably be both in some fine shape for Tirreno again.

Would make sense, as MSR is the early season target followed by appearneces at the cobbles to test progression and then onto the Giro. Well, that's the plan as it looks via a quick google search.

Yeah I'd be disappointed if he isn't at list co-leader for some smaller pavéd classics. He also the engine for the long distance but probably the pavè of Roubaix is too much for him yet, although he stated it's his favourite race. It'll be even more exciting following his season than previous years. It's bound to be a breakthrough season really choochoo hype train!

Yeah, MSR apparently is the big goal in the spring, but he should lead/co-lead a race such as G-W and K-B-K as well since he is Quick Step's best opportunity there- They can still race the way they do, now they just have an ace behind.. And I'd be disappointed not to see him race at least one of the cobbled monuments.
I think Ewan is a bit faster, but Im not really sure tho. The media will certainly try to make out a big duel out of is, but the truth is they are very different riders despite both being labelled sprinters. |

I can understand why people want to compare Ewan and Gaviria but I have to agree with you that they are different type of riders and I think this season will start to show that. I wouldn't say Ewan is faster but I do think he is starting to show that he can position himself quite well for a sprint finish and thanks to his size can find those small gaps that others miss, Robbie McEwan was brilliant and this type of sprinting and it wouldn't surprise me if that's what Ewan ends up being. Gaviria is quick and will win many sprints but it's the classics potential that I'm really looking forward to watch develop, I think he has more scope than Ewan to win over a more varied terrain. Let's hope these two riders aren't young talents who burst onto the scene and then plateau or burn out.

Porte blows it out of the water on Willunga and an incredible comeback from Haas to finish second - he was dropped by 50m+ into the last km but somehow pulled it back.

Yeah Porte clearly wanted this years race and boy did he dominate it. I've always thought Haas has a good win in him at WT level and has started the year well, maybe this is the season he proves me right.

Do we know his program for the season yet? I agree that I don't think he'll race Fleche but in saying that he did race L-B-L last season and outside of 2015 has raced during Ardennes week in previous seasons so you never know and he might turn up.

Sounds similar to normal. This is what he said in December:
"I don’t know my exact race program at the moment but I think Paris-Nice will be for sure my first race in Europe next year. Romandie — I’d like to do well there as well. Obviously you know with Tag coming along [as sponsor] and obviously BMC being a Swiss team, I’m kind of motivated to go there and do well.
But I don’t think it’s going to change much from normal, like the Dauphine or maybe Pais Basque [Tour of the Basque Country]. I think it’s a pretty good race program and a lot of time in between at home, which is important for me as well."

Also looks like McCarthy is destined to miss out on the podium again. He must've thought he had a spot with a km to go and Haas going backwards. Then he clipped a wheel in front and practically stopped followed by the Haas comeback. Would love to have seen how Haas got back in then somehow won the sprint for second

Two absolutely dominating performances for Richie Porte this year, smashing the field with so many % isn't normal in the modern peloton. He has gone up WIllunga Hill a little faster every year from 2014 to this year as well!
Chaves will be a beast this year. Looks like improved base, he is still far from his top shape. |
