So close. Still hoping Henao will make a run for it in one of the mountain stages though.

Well yeah. Hopefully now he won't think he is strong enough to get a stage win and still go for breaks in the mountain stages Pfft

With that break win at this point of the race, as 3 mountain stages and 1 TT are left as opposed to only Paris' sprint, Schleck, Spilak and Phinney and I think Taaramae too are still in contention for the green jersey. If Schleck decides to do a Schleck in the next 3 stages, Swift and Bewley may lose their first 2 places in the points competition.

Congrats to DD on the great win!

Schleck has got to be the favorite for all jerseys now. He is already leading two, and is likely to be top 3 on the next three stages. Phinney, Taaramae, Dombrowski and Spilak can all get from 2-5 in all competitions.

Indeed the stage itself was a big one to lose for the sprinters. That said, Swift struggled lately, so I doubt he had won anyway. But for the point jersey, the stage racers now got a big advantage with mainly mountain stages remaining.

We should be in those breaks.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Apart from the big one. White.

Somewhat surprised to see that one go to a breakaway, as the last two stages wasn't that hard. And now they won't get a chance before Paris. But anyway, congratulations, DubbelDekker on a very nice win. Monfort played it perfect.

And thank you again for your consistent reporting, roturn!

This is probably about right with Keizer in 13th.

That said I have a top10 GC goal here and hence it`s quite a pity he is always behind "weaker" climbers such as Ponzi, Arndt or Quintana or on other stages Bakelants, Goos etc.

Though the top10 goal here was more for the 1 extra point anyway as I wasn`t expecting the Giro/Vuelta top10 with Olivier...afterwards though Olivier did a top10 there and hence it`s a bit of a pity.

Point wise Top15, Swifts sprint performances and Bennett in top30 is absolutely fine and was about expectations pre season by me.

Kinda thought we'd get that stage win but great ride and a nice time gap. Two more stages like that and we'll be in yellow Smile

Thanks for the report Roturn and congrats CountArach.

Wow, Dombrowski is actually threatening Schleck, at least for now. Must say I thought Schleck had it bagged considering his greatness in the mountains, especially in the third week of a GT, but this looks like it might be very, very interesting.

And with Wellens winning the stage, no doubts it was a Ventoux for the younger guns. Congratulations, CountArach! Also thank you for an in-depth coverage of the stage, roturn.

For our own team, great to see Nesset and Hoem show signs of life. Not much more we can do than that, so we can only lean backwards and follow what could be a thrilling GC battle on the final three GC decisive stages.

Hurray...

Goodbye stagewin, goodbye GC podium, goodbye Team GC, goodbye 2nd U25 competition, goodbye top 10 U25 competition. As the race goes by we lose everything. 2000 points? Fuck that. We should be lucky getting 1500 at this point.

Good ride by Phinney keeps himself in with a chance in the green Jersey competition as well as gapping Kritsky to set himself up for a top 5

Great to see CAS in a good move on the Ventoux stage and Anacona with a solid stage as well.

Also cool to see it becoming so close at the top of the GC. Bodes for some intressting stages to follow.

Monfort! Grin Such a great rider. He's no longer in the position to win PCT hilly classics, so he switched to solo victories in the Tour.
Very nice to see us so active in these breakaways with also Formolo doing a good job.

And pretty surprising Ventoux result. Shock

Why so pessimistic? I'm willing to bet all of those things go the right way for you Pfft
I mean we still have 2 mountain stages, 1 TT and 1 sprint stage left Pfft

Wow, an attack by König! Too bad he tried only before the final climb started. Would not be the worst idea to try to go after a stage win... Bewley is almost better in GC than him... Sprint jersey will be really hard to get, same as the last year the quest will likely fail. Frown
