You arrange the races, you can make your own rules...stupid UCI, driven by the power of rich teams, that cant loose their control on the races.

well it would've been stupid to adapt the rules after most of the signings were done...it would be perfect to announce it now for 2018, so that every team can plan with what they'll get

UCI hasn't been much more forthcoming with their inclusion of the many new WT races. In fact, I argue that the reduction to 8/7 riders has been a direct result of the UCI travesty.

The changes will be good in the long run however I agree you can't impose them on teams at the drop of a hat. It's like UEFA waiting till the transfer window has closed and then telling teams they can only field 3 foreign players. Teams need a year to prepare.

Bad comparison.
Its like telling them they can only select 23 instead of 25 players available for UCL or their normal tournaments.

That is a better example Smile

TJ Sports riders will need to look for other rides should the team doesn't get the nod.

Apparently they lost it and will be PCT only.

Meintjes to Dimension Data and Rui Costa to Katusha is a first big loss for them.

Any source for that? That's huge news if true.

Meintjes will more likely go to Bahrain-Merida, linking with Copeland again (Copeland wanted him, but was unable to get him out of the Lampre contract).

I see Rui Costa in Katusha or Movistar in this case.

not sure, Meintjes linked strongly to DD, where he pulled out to ride on WT level

Costa to Movistar would be logical

btw: with Bahrain signing Pellizotti they lost another part of my respect...

I thought he left them because Copeland got the boot? And don't know if they will have the resources for his GC ambitions and Cavendish's Green Jersey quest. At Bahrain he'll be just Nibali's lackey. Kreuziger was also approached by Nibali before choosing Orica.

Did you had any respect for Baharain at all? From the name, through the questionable owner to signing ex-dopers

Well, as a fan of Slovenian Cycling I was quite interesting in the project with so many prospects from there. But their built up with old guys far over their best point and not really known for being the perfect domestiqes (Brajkovic, Pellizotti,...) is pathetic. They have a lot of likeable riders though, looking at f.e. Ion Izagirre, who could really be a coup.

But yes, you are right. If it really is just a toy of one man then it's a procet you can't appreciate. But for today I believe in a positive way, that there is a cycling fever in Bahrain (or at least in the higher places) which leads to a regional cycling promotion and highering the popularity of the sport in the mid-east regions, until I'm proven wrong. I guess that will ssdly happen though more further than later.

It makes the RB Leipzig football club look good in compairson. And there's a ton of hate towards this team in Germany alone (like Bahrain-Merida RB Leipzig is considered a toy of a big corporation). Red Bull at least invest in young talent and utilize them without the need of star power (same goes for their F1 team), whereas Bahrain relies solely on Nibali and maybe Purito for big things.

Also Astana is similar to Bahrain - both are owned by rich persons/corporations and have some ex-dopers. BUT at least Astana has local riders and development teams with Kazakh riders. In that regard I respect Astana more than Bahrain, because they utilize local talent which can't be said for the prince's project though

Was always going to be the case as they could never prove what was in the box. Could've been dildos and midget porn for all we know.

True, true. But if it looks like shit, smells like shit and has the texture of shit
it is very, very likely to be shit, right?

About the TJ-chinese state/Kathusha/Astana feel-alike project:
The rumors stem from them canceling a sheduled training camp.

"The team ... cancelled a training camp this month and missed a UCI meeting yesterday in Majorca, Spain."

https://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/l...on-303457]

And now something sickening to close:

cdn.media.cyclingnews.com/2016/12/03/2/sptdw10844_670.jpg
Tony Martin in Katusha colors and in the same row as Zakarin.

With the 2nd part of that McLaren report being released it was a smart move of them to try to get away from being a russian state sponsored team, ey?

In a similar vein to the Wiggins story, Shane Sutton has also been cleared of all but one of the accusations against him. Again it was one persons word against another on the whole so it would have been hard to actually find him guilty of much. Varnish to appeal so it might not be over yet.
