With the 8th Daily Song Contest coming up later this week, we will get you in the mood for the contest by previewing some of the acts you should look out for in Skopje. Today we start with some of the hottest acts that were submitted through YouTube and Skype.
There is only 1 artist to ever reach the podium on 2 occasions, and that would be Of Monsters And Men from Iceland. After a short break from the contest they return again, this time with a new Head of Delegation, Alex Sörensson, who piloted Loreen to the final in Ruse, with this group who have succeeded on getting a podium position every time they have competed. The song they have sent this time is entitled 'Human' and is probably the darkest of their entries to date. It has a folk-style that is prolonged throughout, whilst also retaining a very anthemic chorus just like any other 'OMAM' entry before. A DSC.tv reporter caught up with the group at their press conference in Reykjavik and the front man of the group, Ragnar Þórhallsson who said this: 'we have a very dark and innovative stage show planned for our performance in Skopje. It will feature some elements the DSC has never seen before. Our main aim is to bring the contest back to Iceland, 'Human' is hopefully a song that can do that'.
South Korea have returned to the contest, and EXO are the group to do so. They closed the show in Ruse and took home a top 10 position after a stunning stage show filled with high energy dancing. 'Call Me Baby', their entry for edition #8, does not lend itself to a big high energy stage show, but more a classy performance. This will have to be placed well in the running order to shine most probably. Head of Delegation bst222 is determined to reach the final again, and maybe even re-write Korea's best finish.
