Thanks, yeah March is working out so far
@Ollfardh: Not sure I agree with the Vanbilsen is stronger part seeing as how Vanbilsen has the better sprint I wasn't surprised to see Baugnies finish off the first place tho.

E3 Prijs Harelbeke
Another day on the podium for Strava at a prestigious classic, just not the desired top step. With a win goal, Strava came to E3 Prijs and recent results have kept hopes and ambitions alive to make a miracle happen.
Things didn't start out all too well when the racing came in full swing. Gilbert was involved in a mass crash that teared the peloton apart. Strava was willing to use this to its advantage though and alongside Lierse and Azteca, the team enforced the pace and created a selective group of chasers behind the BOTD. In fact, Strava fielded the half of the 10 men group, riders included captains Baugnies, Langeveld as well as Gaudin, Tulik and De Backer.
Strava commited to the pace to put the other danger men away from us, the numerical advantage certainly suited us well. Unfortunately numbers don't add up when it comes to racing against Summerhill. Azteca's machine flew away on one of the cobble sections and was never to be seen again. Baugnies later attacked alongside Vanbilsen, whilst the empty Strava riders did a great job to ensure Baugnies' podium.
In the end, Baugnies came about 44 seconds down on our win goal, a clear and bitter defeat against the best rider on the pavé. But Jerome took a solid second place home, and we are optimistic for the rest of our goals. Langeveld finished on a great 6th place and with additional firepower in the Top 30, Strava is once more the top scoring team at a cobblez classic.

A brilliant month for your team. No classics without a great depth and especially Baugnies is in great shape. Only little downside is that Timmy Dupont struggles a lot to get some freedom

Strava tops March ranking
As March concludes, Strava has reason to celebrate a little. The team has been the best scorer in the month of March, outscoring Porto-Prio by a few points.
Of course the team is excited at this accomplishment and it's a nice recognition and summary of the month we've had. With top performances in all races we've entered, this is really an effort of the entire team.
Strava currently sits at fifth in the overall rankings and we are well on track for our goal of finishing inside the Top 15. The upcoming stage races may not suit as so much as the classics do, but with a strong field present, we still hope for some sweet stage success along the road.

Very impressed with your season so far. Have to say I have a soft spot for your team, with three of my ex-riders on board - and the kind of hill depth that got me promoted a couple of seasons back. Plus also a large number of riders who have been on my shortlist in the past, and will be in the future
Top 15 should be easily achievable for you from here, if not Top 10. Top 5 might be a push, but if your hill and cobbles depth continues to score well then nothing is impossible |

Unfortunately he does nothing on cobblez and hasn't worked well as a lead-out so far either. It could well be that he leaves the team after this season.
@jph: thanks, nice to hear. Will see what the season has in store for us. Vuillermoz and Gaudin work out so far. Roux has been hiding mostly so far, however better suited races will come soon I think.

KBC De Panne Tour
Strava is mostly known for our classic prowess but last year Tour of Iceland has shown that when we put all our eggs in the basket, we can also do some great stuff in stage races. With the former winner in Iceland Tennant present in lime, Strava set out for another dominant team performance, scoring a great amount of points.
The deciding stage was already the first one. There Jerome Baugnies had a great day and was fed up with coming second and third. He attacked twice and the first time, he dropped large group of free loaders, the second time it enough to even distance Danny Summerhill of Azteca.
Grand Fondo, bellissimo!
With panache and virtue, Baugnies got the stage win and the white jersey. The lead was solid by 30 seconds but with names like Summerhill, Vanbilsen and Cancellara behind him, no mistake should be made. Thankfully Strava has enough support and firepower to keep a jersey, and so Strava was in control mode on the next day, where Baugnies easily finished alongside the other favourites, while the break got the stage win.
After another flat stage, which saw De Backer andv Dupont in the mix, the final Time Trial sealed the deal for Strava, and Baugnies got some well earned kisses on the podium. Strava could additionaly claim the team classification by some time margin, against other strong teams such as Lierse and Shimano! With 5 guys in the Top 15, the orange factor is responsible for a third of the Top 15, what a stat!

Tour of Vancouver
There wasn't much to be gained in this race which saw an exciting battle between the Cobra Ricco, Indosat's Intxausti and Amador. Strava got some riders in breakways in the mountain stages but Vuillermoz got swallowed whole by the peloton when the big boys came out.
Modolo clearly beaten by Kump
Modolo delivered some good sprints, finishing three times in Top 10, including a podium on a hilly sprint, where he lost against Kump, another specialist in this area. Thanks to Modolo's consistency we leave with some points but it's nothing to boast about in this mandatory band race.

In Shonak's town Vienna, Strava has become an art form --- sort of! In a gallery during the viennese bike show, the craft of gps tracking and turning it into little pieces of pop-culture, is exhibited and will show people the detail and wonder of recording your rides.
It's all in your ride after all!

In between De Panne and Dunkerque, there were some stage races and classics on the road for Strava. A quick recap shows few highlights and much missed opportunities.
Made by famed stage maker tsmoha, Tour of South Africa is a beauty to behold, and not only Aidan is enthusiastic about it, also our SA-rider Christiaan Kriek took the chance and went into the break of the day. At the end of that stage 3, Modolo came fifth and took a few points. A day earlier, Roy established himself as our GC prospect but before the final stage, the french man crashed out. Thankfully PhilBear was there to take over.
With a crappy time trial behind us and Modolo - as top sprinter present - failing to take any significant placing in the few bunch sprints, Gilbert took home a Top 10 on the last day. Roux could and would have been higher, but crashing out is inevitable part of the game.
Philadelphia International Championship
Outside the Top 10, Van der Sande and Tulik landed a 11th and 12th place. Not good enough to hold up against the exquisite competition, we gained little here, and had to head home from USA with almost empty hands.
Dutch Food Valley Classic
The same was achieved at the Dutch Food Valley Classic, another 11th place by Van der Sande reminded me of brewers' 11th bmc crush, but was far away of the results we had hoped for.
Of course there's also always the chance to do worse. Without Modolo (for reasons we are baffled at and some screwed up planning in hindsight), Interlagos Grand Prix saw us race without a sprinter and so Baugnies got a 25th place. Hardly anything worthwhile, but better times would soon come around again.

Strava returned clearly back to its best as soon as we hit the main continent and some cobblez again. With a force of cobblez and sprint power, the team was versatile enough to take its chances on multiple fronts but ultimately came short off the main GC win.
Strava chasing the lone remaining botd-rider Biondo, later winner of the race
On the first day, the GC already slipped through our hands, since Sancor's Biondo went into the break of the day and kept himself in front of us until the finish line. Langeveld led the chase in the final kilometers and came second that day in front of Summerhill and Roy. Ultimately, it'd be the same place throughout the race through Langeveld, and whilst you could moan about the missed opporutnitiy of Langeveld taking the win, it's more of a winning second place here really, with Summerhill beaten again. Additionally Lierse's Van Asbroeck was too close for comfort, potentially usurping Langeveld's second place thanks to bonus seconds.
Promplty on the second day, Van Asbroeck already showed with a stage win what kind of danger he presents to us.
Baugnies with an opportunisitc attack with the last kilometers
But Strava wasn't just taking it easy the next days eiother, not by far. Our De Panne winner, Jerome Baugnies, tried his luck with a late move on stage 3. Failing just meters ahead of the uphill sprint, Baugnies put in a courageous fight that day.
Things would turn around though, especilla on the luck side. Netia's Vantomme got excellent support by his team, and our very own Tosh Van der Sande profited twice of that. Edging out the high-profile belgian sprinter of Netia, Van der Sande took two wins literally by a few centimeters. With the points gain, Van der Sande took the points classification and prevented Van Asbroeck's further advancement.
Win @ Stage 4
Stuvyen / stage 5
With the 2nd & 7th in the GC, the team & points classification won by Strava and two stage wins, 4 Jours de Dunkerque turned into 5 days of great racing for Strava. Albeit losing the GC to a breakaway is never fun, it sucks less when our friends at Sancor have the chance to celebrate an unlikely GC win.
